The five star review applies to heatwave conditions, the rest of the time I would say that Tooting…read moreBec Lido is ideal for serious swimmers that don't feel the cold. The pool is c90m long and c30 metres wide, meaning that when it is busy there is still plenty of room to swim. The water is heated by the sun, which in London means that it is take your breath away cold but once you get used to the temperature it is pleasant especially on hot days. The entrance fee for adults is around £7 which considering London prices isn't too bad. There are indoor changing rooms as well as separate outdoor changing cubicles with brightly painted doors. There is a grassy area on which to sit as well as spaces around the edge of the pool. There is also a separate paddling pool and a cafe for snacks on the site. The only downside for me is the lack of lockers to put valuables in, although you can ask staff to keep stuff in lockers in their area.

SPLASH!!!!!! This 5…read morestar review only applies during periods of heatwave like the one we had over the WImbledon tennis fortnight this year. During those periods, this unheated pool is the perfect antidote. At 90m, the main pool at Tooting Bec lido is the largest open air pool in Europe. There's a separate children's pool and a cafe, all wrapped up in grand surroundings. It can get busy as you can imagine when the sun comes out but it's well worth for a dip to cool off and to lie in sun and luxuriate.

Obviously, it shines brightest in the Spring/ Summertime, as that is when everything is in bloom, but I've been here mostly during the Winter months, and it is still a super-chill spot to gaze across the treetops, watch the clouds speed across the sky, and take a stroll through the garden for that much-needed Zen time amidst your busy day. Word to the wise: Bring a beautiful soundtrack along for the walk to enhance the magic. Another perk to this place is that there are a few other parks and even a cafe connected directly to it. Norwood Grove, in particular, is another great place to sit, relax, and watch dogs frolic while their owners get their daily exercise, along with a few families taking in the fresh air. The Rookery Cafe is also a lovely place to visit, especially after your walk through The Rookery. Don't get me wrong, the city is great at all times of the day; but for the perfect midday pick-me-up, I believe there is nothing better than spending some time alone in a beautiful nature-filled space to reconnect with what matters most. Yes, that would be yourself.

Sometimes I'm weary of live actors, but they integrated their live actor/game host well. Ford, I believe her name was (or Gabriel, in line with the character everyone meets) was fabulous and fun. This was also the first time I've played a room where you win a bottle of wine and it was located in a bar establishment. That alone was well worth it! I've consider this room to be a first generation room (no tech), but they did a solid job. Escape rooms have become more and more elaborate, but if you can make a solid first generation room, I'd take that over finicky tech based rooms. It was dark, however, but you do get flashlights. Also, it's a creepy room and my group and I hate creepy, but it was a lot of fun for my group and I. Can't think of any jump scares. I'd definitely recommend them and would love to be back for more!

This escape room is quite something! It was very enjoyable and really well done. Don't worry,…read morethere's no spoilers in this review. You can gather and chill in the Four Thieves pub downstairs and wait for Gabriel to find you. You'll easily recognise him by his old timey garb and creepy stare. This escape room has an actual storyline you have to follow, a bit like those classic adventure games. Randomly searching for clues isn't as helpful as it is in most other escape rooms as only the storyline will help unlock the clues. The room is really well done, very dark and moody, slightly creepy but not too scary. Decor and props are fantastically made, the room tends to get quite hot though, so be aware of that when you dress for the day. The clues and riddles make sense and are all solvable if you stay on track. Overall a really good experience, would definitely recommend this one!

This place may not look very interesting at first glance; little more than a wide-open space,…read morereally. And, if you're visiting London for the first- or umpteenth time- strolling around the grass may not be the most exciting thing to do; especially if you don't live in the area. At least, this is how I saw it, and I didn't discover how special a park this is until my second time visiting London. During the lockdown, when the pandemic hit, I was forced to stay local -along with the rest of the world- and found myself at a loss for something to do. So, I walked... a lot. Color me surprised when I discovered that a park this huge was practically just down the street from where I lived, and I'd never thought to visit. At one end, you can find yourself strolling through a veritable fairy forest- the likes of which most of us have only ever dreamed of as a children- at the other, you have an enormous green space that can hold up to a dozen different football games, with plenty of social distancing space, besides. In the middle, you have a sizable pond, complete with ducks, geese, turtles, and even fish, (and one heron, awkwardly out of place). And as you walk/ jog through the park, you can find countless nooks and crannies in which to have adventures with your children, picnics on the green, and if you play your cards right, they may even let you do a little fishing. Bike paths are plentiful, and shade is never hard to find. There is also a tiny cafe in one corner of the park, where you can get yourself some coffee, tea, ice cream, or sandwiches. Or, if you're like me, all of the above. Farther in and across the street, the park continues its impressive offerings with even more space to stroll, play, or picnic in, including a small ball park for the more hand-held sports like cricket and softball. Is that a thing here? If you walk along the street a bit, you'll come across another small forest in which to explore, and- again, if you're like me- get lost in. Because adventure. The best time to visit is during the Spring and Summer, when the trees are replete with emerald-green leaves, the weather is more agreeable, and the flowers are all in bloom. Regardless of the time of year, though, this place will always have some for you to do. And, what better way to get your exercise?
