Friday Nov. 19th around 6:00 pm during a layover we ate here. My husband ordered pizza and it was good, no problem. I ordered a shrimp linguine. It tasted good at first but there were so many red pepper flakes in it I almost couldn't eat it. But I ate it because I was very hungry. Now I believe they put so much in there to cover something up. After landing in Minneapolis I got extremely sick and ended up in the ER with food poisoning. I have never been so sick in my entire life. This was my first time dining at Gavi at George Bush. I was so surprised by how accommodating the service was. I was under the impression that I was going to be just quickly served as the ordering is usually done by IPads. It ended up being the best airport restaurant service I have ever had. George Hernandez was my waiter and suggested great wines and let me sample a new beer before I committed to it to make sure I enjoyed it. The food, staff, and service was amazing. Great service, excellent food! Ava Joy was a pleasure to work with. Unfortunately we had a layover for an extended period of time, giving us lots of time at Gavi. Ava answered all of our question about the digital ordering process. (First time here) My husband is a bit picky and wanted to adjust a menu option, Ava worked with the staff to ensure my husband had what he wanted. Also, the manager on Staff was great as well. The food is meh probably 3 stars to be honest however, my server, Jeremy, did a phenomenal job. He made sure I had my food and refills in a timely manner. Also, he helped me get my food receipt by asking the manager to email it to me, which is important for business travelers like myself (make the company pay!). They should have discontinued taking orders to allow them to get caught up.... because the mobile ordering from the ipads just added to the chaos. Wow. I was waiting for my flight and stopped to have a drink; next to me was a young couple who were just being served their meals and the woman asked whether or not the parmagiana that laced her spaghetti and meatballs was pasteurized. The waiter went back and forth a few times before finally admitting he didn't understand the question. I explained in our mutual native language what she was asking..he went away again and returned embarrassed that he was unable to answer the question. So, the woman's companion found the manager who was sitting at a chair nearby and asked if he could check. The manager, who seemed supremely unoccupied, was annoyed and rude. Moreover, he couldn't answer the question, nor get an answer himself. This is a pretty typical question one's likely to get at a restaurant, and it's an especially important question for women's health. Anyone serving should be able to answer basic questions about what's in the dishes being served. A diabetic, for example, should be able to enquire (and get an accurate answer) if there's added sugar in a dish..I can see that the server did not have the proper training, nor was there clarity in where he could go for an answer. The manager, whose job it is to ensure his staff are trained and that his customers can know if the food is healthful for them, should know that his lackadaisical attitude and arrogance have no place in the hospitality business. read more

Gavi... I wanted a pizza as a quick meal before my flight. After I ate it it was an instant laxative. I ran to the bathroom holding it in almost pooping on the airport floor but I made it to the bathroom in time. The pizza was so expensive and took way to long for it to come out liquidity and soggy. read more

Their ordering system is not only frustrating, it's dishonest. Any time you select a pasta entree or pizza, there are suggested add-ons (ie add 9 oz of Pinot Grigio for $6.50, etc)... it then groups all your add ones as a single item with no price breakdown unless you click into it -- well, if you click into it, whoa and behold that $6.50 Pinot is now $17.00 (see attached photos for proof of discrepancy)! In addition, we let them know before we even sat down that we had a united voucher, and their iPad system (not being intuitive) instructs you to "add to check" in order to send your request to the kitchen, we start a tab assuming we can apply the voucher at check out, but then ask and are very rudely informed that by "starting a tab" we missed our window and are no longer able to input it. We were obviously put-out and the individual was very unhelpful saying "it's too late", then had the gall to come around later asking if we'd ordered a second round of drinks in order to use up our credit! I let her know that we'd spent enough there already and preferred to spend that money elsewhere. I did also attempt to point out their inaccurate pricing directly to the waitress, in case they weren't aware, but not only did she agree with me, she joked that "it's even worse if you try and order a sandwich" and laughed about it. The fact that this is a known issue and yet there was zero attempt to correct or preempt is galling (no surprise it's auto-gratuity). For what it's worth, the food and drinks were surprisingly good for airport food (so their kitchen staff is blameless, it's just their shady point of sale systems, poor customer service and dishonest pricing that should steer you away. read more

This little restaurant is pretty cool. Jeremy was our server and he as great. Checked on us multiple times. Each seat has its own iPad for ordering, Internet searching, etc and power source so that you can chart your own device. The food was a good sized portion. Taste wise it was ok. After everything goes wrong with flight, airlines, connections, customer service, etc... and we felt we couldn't wait one more second to start crying and screaming, we got to Gavi. We couldn't believe how welcome everybody was making us feel appreciated. We felt special and for 1 hour forgot about our nightmare. Chef Cacie was so sympathetic with us and gave us all the attention my son and I were needing during our ordeal. We didn't get the name of the waitress but just her smile and kindness felt like heaven and the manager was amazing with my son. He and Cacie were so nice with my 14 years old son that they spent some time talking about Harry Potter. I'd like to let them know that they made our trip memorable and we cannot wait to stop in Houston to see you guys again and eat your delicious food. read more

What a great pizza, panini and salad restaurant in Terminal E at the Houston Airport. We had a tight connector and rushed in to get a pizza to take on our next flight, we had a 15 minute window. At 15 minutes we decided to give up and get to our gate. The two absolutely wonderful ladies ran, actually sprinted I think to our gate to deliver our pizza. What amazing customer service and care they took. I did not get thier names but it was 7:20 on April 28. If those ladies get this message, thank you! You are awesome! Stopped by Gavi while waiting for my next flight. Jeremy was super nice & helpful! He checked on us multiple times & was super friendly. I liked that the restaurant runs off of ordering tablets so you can order whenever you want. You also pay at your table - eliminates the need to wait on a waiter or waitress - which is perfect if you have a flight to catch. The portions were also really large. The food was good- fine. I had the kale Caesar salad with a glass of white wine. The salad came with a chicken skewer too. A little lite on the dressing but that was fine. Rather that than too much. The service was abysmal. You have to pay before you get your food, which means you have to tip before too. No one brought me silverware. I had to go up and find it from the waiter station. Asked for water when my food was set down, no one brought it. Asked for it again when the person sitting next to me food was delivered. Still none. No one check up on me the entire time I was sitting down. read more

We ate here thinking it would be a quick bite before our flight. We had 2 hours until flight time, plenty of time for a few paninis. Wrong. They came out one by one with a 20 min interval between each. By the time the last sandwich came out it was over an hour later and had to be taken to go so we didn't miss boarding. To top it off, the turkey bacon paninis had RAW bacon on them and had to be sent back. We spent a week in Mexico afraid of getting food poisoning, we weren't about to get sick from the Houston airport. No thanks. read more
