Now a days, when I come to the airport I look forward to testing out many of the new restaurants with the latest build out and renovation of most, if not all the IAH terminals. Gavi is one of the new eateries that serves up Italian type of food and drinks and the several times I've stopped by, I've always come away pleasantly satisfied. From my experience the Carbonara pizza was really tasty and extra gooey with the cheese and the parpardelle past Bolognese was large and tasty enough to share with too. What surprised me was how good their passionfruit aperol spritz was and that alone is good enough just to hang and drink those. All in all, anyone coming through this areal give Gavi a go. read more

On a long layover between our flight from El Paso to Fort Lauderdale, we ate at Gavi. My wife had a caprese panini with chips and I had the spaghetti and meatballs. The panini was very good and the spaghetti was probably good enough to be a 4*, however the meatballs were in a different rich tomato (a little spicy) sauce which in my opinion lessened the overall rating. It is hard to find a person to help. You can scan the QR code, which upsells you constantly, like suggesting water without mentioning a price then charging $20 for it, suggesting expensive deserts and slipping in an 18% tip even though there is no waiter in sight. The app ended up with a server error and we had to run around looking for a human. The guy entered our order wrong and brought us pizzas without cheese or even sauce. When we asked for a correction, they would not fix it. We just ended up paying $100 for cardboard pizza and some salad. It is almost like this restaurant is run by an evil AI which cares nothing about people or food, only money. read more

This restaurant in the airport is not only stunning visually with gorgeous art tree installations, but the food was so tasty. Margarita pizza is the jam! Chef Cacie is Fantastic and showed me what Houston can bring to the table, culinary wise. Ava Joy was the best server too. Worst place ever, we ordered our food and it is a simple order an avocado toast. Waited for 35 mins and still no food. Checked multiple times with waiter and no luck, all the orders after ours are served and not ours. When asked for refund they said will contact us via email and no luck. I had a arrival flight To Texas from Mexico and my flight was delayed for 40 min and stopped to get something to eat for my daughter. Was waiting for 30 min and and when I went to ask what's was taking long for the pizza, well they never put the order in. I had to leave due to my departing flight and the Employee said they were going to refund it back to my card and still a week later and nothing. There is no direct number or functioning email to get this fixed. Very upsetting and more cause my daughter had to fly without eating anything . Employees do Not bother attending the customers. Overpriced. The food is okay. The process to order food is at the table is annoying. We went to the counter ordered because thats the way we had to order food. Well that is to go. So we wanted water to drink as many others were drinking water. We had a server saying we would have to purchase water that was already given to the customers. Which we are but didnt know the process of ordering. We spent over $100 and they denied us water. We had a small child. How do you deny someone water to drink? First and last time. We attempted to eat here for breakfast before a flight. It was around 6:30 am and this place should have been open for an hour and a half by that time. However, after we placed an order on the tablet we were told that they would not be able to serve us for 20 minutes. 20 minutes passed and we were told that they would not be able to serve us for another 20 minutes. It was too much at that point and there are many other dining options at terminal E so we asked them to cancel our order. The problem is that when you place an order here (and at other locations in the terminal owned by the same company) you swipe your card. The manager on duty said that he could not immediately issue us a refund and that we would receive one in several days. This was obviously a lie as we had just stopped at Tanglewood (also an OTG restaurant) which was having equipment issues and they immediately issued a refund. Needless to say, no refund was issued. We attempted to contact their customer service about this and received no response so we disputed it with our credit card. However, OTG challenged the dispute and because they had a receipt with the physical card present the credit card company could not uphold the dispute. You have been warned. read more

Got the avocado toast- the healthy option. Except that it was swimming in olive oil. You couldn't even tell it was toast it was so soggy and so difficult to eat. Then I had to gather my belongings with my oily hands to get to the restroom to wash them because napkins just weren't cutting. Also the menu description mentions everything on the toast except the olive oil so you wouldn't know to ask for no olive oil. Luckily I ordered breakfast potatoes so something tasted good for my $20+ breakfast . read more

This place looks fun, but in reality, it fails. We got to the airport a little early. Instead of your usual places to eat like Wendy's or other fast food offerings, we decided to try Gavi. It starts with you sitting in front of an iPad and ordering your food and drinks. I've done this at other places before like Stacked, etc. But the difference with this place is that you'll order and pay before your order is placed. The bad part is you also leave a tip at this time. How do you know what to tip your server when they haven't done anything yet? The food is just so-so. I got the shrimp fettuccine which was very dry the shrimp were over-cooked. We also split a spinach artichoke dip appetizer which was decent. We wanted a few more napkins and refills on our drinks, but no one was around to ask. Overall, save the money and either wait until you get to your destination or eat fast food and fill yourself up before you take off. Either way it's not worth spending the money here. Food is less than average and the service isn't good. And paying is very awkward. read more

Cool little place in terminal E in the Houston International Airport. Intuitive iPad ordering system, staff were just the right level of attentive (at least for me) and there were meatballs. Not impressed at all! We ordered the carbonara omelet and the mushroom omelet with a side of bacon. Waitress has no clue what ingredients come in the omlete, forgot to bring out the side of bacon we ordered, rarely checked on us, and even after asking for more coffee it still took 10 minutes. This restaurant is very quick and convenient for takeout and directly across from E14. You order via iPad at the counter, take your slip and check yourself out at the back near the drinks (look for checkout sign). Employees will assist if you need help. I entered my cell and 10 minutes later had a text that my pizza was ready. It had a good crust, decent amount of mushrooms and roasted garlic and enough to share with 2 or 3 people. They also have pasta, salad and paninis if that's more to your liking. Recommend for a quick but hearty meal. read more

Nice servers. Zero management, organization, structure or finesse. How hard can it be on an automated system (iPad ordering)? My seriously overpriced but decently tasty food arrived before utensils, my beverage, or anybody even cleaned the dirty table I was at. The manager I first spoke with basically shut me down and disappeared. 15 minutes later another manager stopped by and he was solid. Management should take more ownership over training their waitstaff, instituting standard practices, expediting/timing, and supporting their staff. The margherita pizza was good, although they literally put 4 leaves of basil. I ordered extra basil and they forgot, so had to remind them to bring it. The ordering system was super glitchy and it took 20 minutes longer than it should have to place an order. The staff was generally nice. The avocado toast didn't have much flavor and the avocado paste they used was more brown/oxidized so not appealing at all. They need to do some more QA. Don't know about the food, but stopped for two (very expensive) cocktails before my flight. I scanned my card, and received the 2 drinks I ordered, and paid my bill - the receipt link is then texted to me. What a surprise this morning when I noticed they charged me for 3 drinks! Hell, I would definitely had drank that if I knew I was going to be paying for it, at $15 a drink. Nice automated system - didn't know it could be programmed to steal. Multiple staff completely unapologetic and unwilling to help, no reason for absent meal given. What is their incentive, really? You pay and tip before you are served. This place was terrible! My husband and I really wanted to enjoy our $50 breakfast ! The service was poor! The food they advertised didnt even exist and the food we actually recieved was unappetizing. We were informed that they had run out of potatoes and had taken it on themselves to substitute melon saying that the manager would fix it when he came back up. He never came back up! When we had a problem with it the waitress gave us huge attitude. One of the more disturbing points of this visit is you are forced to order from an I pad . As soon as you order you must pay and tip your server. How are you supposed to know what to tip your server when you haven't even been served yet. My airport food standards are typically low as I never really expect airport food to be great (does anyone?). This place was pleasantly surprising! The pizza and salad was good and the server was kind and responsive. I'd go so far to say that this place is definitely the safest bet food wise in this airport; can you really go wrong with pizza? It was satisfying and tasty (I got the margarita pizza) and also it was bigger than I expected... still pricey, but again, airport prices are always too high. If I had a long layover at this airport again I'd for sure come back again!!! read more

I liked the concept of ordering by ipad but then found that it was difficult to fine tune an order by saying 'no potatoes', so you get the preset meal with limited opportunity to 'build' your own plate (more relevant for breakfast). You also then discover that you are paying for, and more confusingly, choosing a gratuity, before you have had any service at all. Not good. The food was good the service was friendly, so overall good on that score. But please oh please, single use plastic straws, cups and cutlery (wrapped in plastic), surely this can be substituted with compostable or reusable items in this day and age. read more
