Of course it's fine with me because they're cooking to order not leaving food out and waiting to put sauce. Alright now the food, it's good fried chicken with sauces that I don't see in other places. I get soy garlic, honey garlic, sweet Korean, and lemon wasabi. Each sauce is unique and some have a different spice, not "hot hot" but lingering sting, which is an odd thing for me to say, but it's good!! Also, taeboki is an AMAZING Korean side, but a fan favorite for me from here. Anyways, this place is by a busy street (Irving Park) but I feel like it's not given the recognition it deserves. Yeah there's other basic chicken wings nearby by this place has unique sauces and Korean favorites. I'm so glad I found it because it did not disappoint. We ordered a duck grinder with sweet potato tots subbed for fries, along with a cheeseburger from the kids menu. The quality and flavor of everything was excellent, as was the value. The duck grinder and very generous side of tots was enough for two meals (for me, at least). But even if it wasn't, I wouldn't care because it was so unique and delicious. The richness of the tender, well-seasoned duck was complemented beautifully by the chimichurri, and the roll was just the right size and thickness to hold everything together while letting the filling take center stage. The burger was also great - and at a quarter pound vs the half pound burgers on the regular menu, it's a nice choice if you don't want something huge. Whatever is happening in the Avondale Tap kitchen, they've got a great thing going. I'd order again (or check them out in person) in a heartbeat!

The pasta bolognese that the ladies ordered was delicious. My son had the burger and fries, and it was fine, just not very special. I ordered the "half" chicken, thinking as a bird themed restaurant, the only poultry entree would be a star, but that was not the case. A small thigh and half of a breast was their interpretation of a half chicken, and this was noted on the menu, but the portion was disappointing. The dish was supposed to to be accompanied by polenta with trumpet mushrooms, but two paltry slices of mushroom with a small smear of polenta completed the dish which "artfully" only occupied the left half of the plate, leaving the rest of the plate bare. Small portions aside, the dish was overly salty, to the point I had dry mouth the rest of the night, and the chicken was overcooked. The taste was fine, and the little bit of polenta added enough moisture to make the dish work. The worst thing was the incredibly dull dinner knife that couldn't cut through the mushroom, let alone the chicken, causing me to apply the stab and pull/tear method to get bite sized pieces. Everything thing else was superb. I would go back for the cocktails and appetizers, perhaps grazing the appetizers and a salad as a dinner. The pastas all looked terrific, but I will probably steer clear of the four mains on the menu, as they seem to be the least inspired items to order.
