I'm incredibly dissatisfied with Gator Ford on both the sales and service side. I bought my Ford Edge here in 2013 and had an okay experience. In 2015 we went to buy my husband's F-150 and we were basically held hostage by the salesman who wouldn't give us back the keys to our trade in. We ended up buying from Brandon Ford because the truck we wanted to buy was supposed to be brand new but looked as if it was demoed to customer for a week. The real disappointment is the service department. My Edge has been in the shop a total of 4 times since we bought it. The headache and frustration we have had to deal with for warranty work is a nightmare. They drag their feet on getting the job done, they make promises they can't keep when it concerns a timeframe for the job to be completed, they don't care how inconvenienced you are by not having a vehicle for 3-5 days at a time and the list seems to go on. I will NEVER buy a vehicle from here again and I will NEVER have it serviced here either. Waste of time and sanity. read more

I would previously have had nothing but positive things to say about Gator Ford. However, after today my opinions had changed. I had them look at my tire because it had a slow leak. I was told I needed a new tire, it couldn't be patched. The tire had to be ordered and it was $421. I decided to go home and discuss it with my husband. My husband reminded me we had a warrant that covered road hazards. This warranty will fix or replace the tire free of charge. So I called gator ford back. I told them that we should go ahead and order the tire and I would have it there Monday morning. When I went to pick up my car Monday they assured me we were good to go and my tire had been patched. My husband questioned several people. One persons response was something along the lines of "I don't know I just work here". He then got the gentleman on the phone who had previously helped me. When that gentleman spoke to my husband he insisted that they never said the tire couldn't be patched they just recommended it be replaced. However, this was never presented to me. I would have certainly picked a $50 patch over a $421 new tire. If it was a mater of safety then why would they just repair it when I told them we had warranty coverage? It felt like they really just tried to take advantage of me. I would not recommend Gator Ford. read more

After having a horrific customer service experience at Matthews-Currie Ford in Venice, we drove to Gator Ford to see if the car we desired was in their inventory. We were barely out of our car before Lily was coming out the door to greet us. Her sweet demeanor and genuine personality were a breath of fresh air. She grabbed a golf cart and took us to the row of Ford Edge models. The perfect car for us was indeed on their lot. She took care to show us each model and explain the differences in available options. We knew which one we wanted, so we went inside to start the paperwork. We also met with Michael, the Sales Manager, to negotiate the price we hoped to pay. He easily met us at our price right away and with a smile. We met with Richard on the financing, and he was an absolute joy to work with. We drove our beautiful new 2013 Ford Edge off the lot, still beaming from the entire experience. Because it was at the end of the day when we finished the deal, Lily asked us to come back the next day so she could take time to walk us through all the features, and so she could have the car detailed inside and out for us. I cannot praise this team enough. I will send everyone I can to Gator Ford and will be a customer for life. Thank you so much! read more

If this review was strictly for the service department, it would be 5 stars. Manny is the absolute best in the service department, and I've never had a bad or difficult experience. Love the service department!! Because this is the closest dealership to our home, and based on our positive service experience, we came in to check out a used car we had found online. We were ready to purchase the vehicle, and already had a loan pre-approved as well as a down payment. The salesman gave us zero information on the vehicle during the test drive, and had no explanation as to the weird sound occurring during the test drive and didn't even offer to have a service representative check it out. The vehicle was also dirty inside and out, had candy and wrappers on the seat inside, mud on the car, and had clearly not been cleaned. The vehicle also had over 1,000 more miles on it than advertised online. Despite all of the red flags, we liked the vehicle and were in a hurry to purchase. We sat down with the sales rep and the manager, who had written up the offer. The manager was not willing to negotiate whatsoever on the listed price, despite all of the above red flags, to meet us at our level of loan and down payment, which was a less than $1,000 difference. He literally made us no better offer, and then asked us if we wanted to look at a different vehicle. We left with no vehicle. Fair warning to those looking for a vehicle: This dealership is basically a Carmax and will not negotiate on the listed price, despite the vehicle not even meeting the advertised aspects. We left, went home to look online, and found the same vehicle, with better features and less mileage, at a lower price! Highly recommend Courtesy Toyota of Brandon, where we had a terrific sales experience right after leaving Gator Ford empty handed. We got a better vehicle there for a better price! Buyers of used trucks beware, First impressions when you arrive you can't actually look at any trucks on lot without going inside and then getting salesman. Since recent change in management no ones actually knows anything about the trucks. No prices on the trucks and sales tells you look on website for info for every question you have and nobody actually know anything about what their selling. The Carfax report has falsified information reported from Gator Ford, showing pre-delivery & maintenance inspection completed. After purchasing the truck issues started occurring, we ended up taking to another Ford dealer. The dealer told us no way this truck was inspected they wouldn't of missed all the issues. They also told us the brakes were recently replaced and Gator Ford should of noticed the damage to brake components when replacing. Massive rust and corrosion to brake components, brake calipers broken, emergency rear brake shoes broken in half, both batteries very bad shape, broken battery terminals, battery corrosion so bad entire harness needed replacement, dirty engine filter and cabin filters, etc. Haven't even had truck 1 month and issues keep stacking up. I just wanted to share this to anyone in market for used trucks from Gator Ford. Beware Stay away from this dealer and save yourself the hassles. Awesome experience! We went to the dealership knowing exactly which car we wanted to see. The entire experience was short and sweet. Danny, our salesman, was personable and honest. He worked with us and didn't try to talk us into something we didn't want. I appreciate this dealership for not pushing us to expand our budget, dragging out the appraisal process, and for making the entire transaction a speedy one. One thing I hate about car dealerships is that everything takes SO LONG! You end up spending hours there between looking at cars, appraising your trade, negotiating a deal.. It's usually awful. Had decided in 2018 to use Gator Ford after purchase of RV that was built on a Ford F-53 frame including Ford 6.8L V10 and was local area of Gator Ford. All was great with first oil change $83.52 on Sep. 5th 2018, so returned less than 1year later 6/13/19 expecting same level of price and was floored when presented at cashier with oil change bill $238.94! When I complained an error in over charge was told new ownership under Mr. Morgan had set new price policy because "Market Demanded It"???? Explained as a consumer in market that I surely did not demand a 200% plus increase. Only comment back was "Sorry". Sadly Will no longer drive 25 miles to Gator Ford who I trusted for future service, thanks Mr. Morgan for gouging your customers. read more

Horrible place for service!! Person in front of me got here at 1030 for 11 am appointment. At 1pm their vehicle was not even looked at!! Service department employees were yelling at each other and everything seemed to be a mess. Not to mention it is a horrible place to wait. Don't use the Service Dept.. The first issue with them they told me i needed all new brakes and rotors on my 2014 F150 $1,500 worth. This after have already being done less than 5,000 prior at a different Ford Dealership. The next time i had an oil change completed and they said they checked the battery and it was found to be good. Later that day less than 4 hrs later i was stranded in a shopping center parking lot with a dead battery. I wrote this on my Ford survey and was asked to drive back to the Dealership to be promised a refund check for the cost of the battery and 3 free oil changes. Two and a half months later still no check. The service rep (Tobias) was awesome but probably promised something above his pay grade. I gave them multiple opportunities to make good on these situations but nothing but talk. I won't be making the drive from Wesley Chapel anymore for my vehicle services. I hope this helps anyone looking for reliable vehicle repairs and service. read more

Had an appointment with Gator Ford @ 8AM today just to get an oil chsnge, the person @the front told me it be a couple of hours. Well 4 hours later my RV was done. If you have 4 hours to waste JUST to get your oil change I recommend going to this place. Manny is the man to see for this service ( not so much ). I spent 5 hours Wed. 9/11, buying a truck from Gator Ford. I signed all the paperwork, endorsed our bank voucher, but couldn't leave with the truck because the detail tech damaged the mirror. We left with a loaner and were told they would call us when the mirror was fixed. I got a call Friday morning from one of the managers, telling me that the truck I bought had a bad transmission that would cost 12k to fix. They apologized and tried selling me a more expensive truck, which we declined. When I went home, I checked their website and the truck that I bought with the same vin number was for sale for nearly 11k more than we had negotiated. I guess the biggest truck dealer in the nation can't take it on the chin, when my wife did a better negotiation than their used car manager. read more

This is for the non service department. I took delivery of an F550 that I ordered at this dealership. The sales experience was great. My issue is with the service department. I travel 10,000 miles a month and have all my service and maintenance done at a Ford dealer. It used to be this one up until the last time I was there for service I had a slow leak in a rear tire due to a small nail. The service manager tried to rip me off and told me it was illegal to patch a hole in that tire and wanted me to purchase another one at $450. I refused. It is not in any way to patch a hole and I did so at another location. Since then I drove another 50,000 miles on that tire with no problems before having them replaced. When I spent several thousand dollars buying the tires from this dealership they threw my polished aluminum wheels on the ground when they changed them and badly scratched them. Would they have done it to one of there $55,000 trucks? On another visit they left off the oil fill cap after a service. Every time I went in to this service department it was if you did not matter much to them if you were not a large fleet owner. After my ordeal with the tire I never went back and nor have they wondered why. Maybe it's because I am not a large fleet owner. My works for Ford and spreads the word on a regular basis. read more

Yesterday I had an 8:00 am appointment to get The Works oil change and a Fuel Injector Flush. I arrived at 7:45, at a little after 10:00 the service advisor informed me that my cabin air filter should be changed. He stated this was a half hour job, so I said yes. Well around noon I went to the service desk to find out when my vehicle would be ready. The service advisor attempted to page the service tech without success. He then went back to the service bay to find out. He came back and informed me that it would be about another hour as the service tech had gone to lunch and left my vehicle hooked up to the fuel injector flushing system. The service advisor told me he was going to get the service manager for me to talk with. Long story short, 45 minutes later the cashier calls me to pay for and get my vehicle. I asked where the service manager was and was told he wasn't in today. And no sign of my service advisor. I still haven't heard anything from anyone at Gator Ford. I will not recommend them to anyone. Does no good to make an appointment, wasted a whole day and had to cancel a 1:00 doctors appointment because they didn't up hold their end of the deal. read more

Made an appointment last week for an oil, fuel filter and air filter change. I found the fuel filter leaking last night and bring it back to the dealer at 7:15 where I'm told there are a lot of people ahead of me. I explained that I waited last week for the service and shouldn't have to wait for it to be repaired correctly. The service agent told me he didn't like my attitude and that he would do what he could do. Needless to say, I'm not really happy at this point. I understand mistakes happen. Please do not compound them by being less than professional. I'll find another dealership for my service. read more

Me my wife and son are on vacation and we stopped by to see the new F-150 king ranch, as we walked in to the dealer ship there was a couple of sales men and a young lady at the front desk and she asked can I help u,I told her that I wanted to take a look at the new F-150 she said ok and looked at the gentleman next to her so he looks at me and said there is 1 right over there I told ok and that I was interested in the Ford and in the new Sierra so that I was there to look at the Ford so that I can compare the 2, after I told him that he sat back down in his chair and never came to greet or asked if we had any questions, I guess he knows that the Sierra is a better truck than the Ford or something? Who knows, oh well I guess I will be purchasing the GMC instead. Just so that The people at Gator Ford know this is the 3rd vehicle we buy while on vacation so sorry that your customer service is crappy cause I really like the Ford but oh well I work very hard for my $$$ and I'm not gonna give it away to just anybody and just so that u know great customer service always sells the vehicle. read more

i dropped my car off to get serviced they charged me $544 to bleed the brakes..said it takes 3 hrs on a 13 ford edge..thats just insane..no car in the world takes 3 hrs to bleed brake when they have a scanner that performs the service...service dept just ripped me off....you got me once but never again..jorge said..if the tech tells me it takes 3 hrs then thats what i have to charge you..which is a lie..every shop in this world goes by a system which hours are listed to perform pricing....when i asked him why am i charged so much .his responce was i do what the techs tells me....thanks jorge cause i would have been a great customer for the service shop but never again...... read more

I will NEVER take my vehicle for service again! I made an appointment online for 9:30 am. Thank God my husband was able to pick me up because it was 5:30 pm before we got a phone call from the dealership regarding my car. They had my car for 8 hours and managed not to fix the recall on my car and gave me a half-ass diagnosis. They decided that to fix the problem with my brakes, the entire HCU needed to be replaced and quoted me $3100 to fix the problem. We paid almost $200 for the diagnosis but because the cost of the suggested repairs was so high, we decided to take my car to an independent mechanic for a second opinion. The independent mechanic was thorough in his assessment and could not with certainty tell us the problem or that replacing the HCU would in fact solve the problem. However, interestingly enough, the mechanic discovered that my car had an extended premium care warranty on it and all the repairs including the diagnosis should have been covered and I should have only paid a $100 deductible. We took the car back to Ford and spoke to Gary, Service Manager. He was less than apologetic about the fact that 1) Ford service advisor (Bryan) AND the Ford technician BOTH failed to either bother to check that my car was under warranty or didn't see fit to inform me. Instead they wanted $3100 to fix my car that according to them was unsafe to drive. 2) Gary, Service Manager, couldn't be bothered to call us and tell us the repairs were in fact covered. I will NEVER take my car to Gator Ford again for service. They tried to take advantage of me to the tune of $3300! They are a bunch of cheats. Buyer Beware. You have been warned. read more
