But the signature treat here is actually the merri-mac tea cake which has been around since the bakery was founded, apparently. It's basically a shortbread cookie with fondant. I can't say that I loved it. I think it would be much better without so much fondant. I scraped it off then scarfed it down. The owner just completed renovations and is working on the second floor now. If you have some time, peruse the pics on the wall and take in the history. Apparently these treats have been around as the very first bakery in town.

My sis couldn't make up her mind on her donut choice and he was so patient. I got a silicone thermos here and I LOVE it. It holds my huge bulletproof coffee I make every morning and keeps it warm for hours. The only complaint we had was that the drinks were SO overpoweringly sweet. Now, I know Americans love the sugar, and so I think that may be my preference. I, admittedly, do not eat a lot of sugar and use xylitol for sweet. I'm sure the drinks were standard, but I could drink more than half my samoa-flavoured coffee and my niece could drink her Mocha Swirl frozen drink. But, like I said...our preferences.
