    Kothu roti

Good place for kothu roti. If u are willing to give srilankan food a try do visit this place. Let them know the spice level they will take care of it.

I love the chicken biryani here. It is one of my fav places for chicken biryani takeout. The service is quick and the food is delicious. They dont take credit card which makes it a bit difficult but the food is reasonably priced and they will modify the spices to your liking. The portions are generous and typically food for 2 people. They also have other appetizer sri lankan food. Their mutton curry and roti is also really good

Great service and yummy food! I came in on Sunday around 630pm. Lineup was close to the door, but mind you, this place is very small. There were about 6 other people in there waiting. They don't have any proper menus listed on the walls so it's good to go to their website to check what you'd like. When it was my turn to order, I told them I've never been here before and that I don't know what to order (I don't know the full names of things, but I do love Tamil food. One of my roommates in college was Tamil and I'd eat everything!). They gave me options and I ordered the chicken kotthu roti and 2 egg/onion rotis. He made sure I wanted extra spicy twice which I did. I made some friends while waiting about 7-9 minutes which was nice. What was even better is that this place is cheap! It was a massive portion of the kotthu ($6.50) and the roti ($1.50 each) was thick and big as well. I grabbed a Diet Coke and my total came up to $12! I also saw on the website/listed on the wall that spring rolls are 5 for $1 and their small patties are 3 for $1. I just moved in close by and will be here for a few months so I will definitely be coming back!

FOOD: I come here often and order food. Usually the vegetarian kothurothi and appetizers such as rolls, vadai, spring rolls and more! Amazing kothurothi and you can ask them to make it spicy or less spicy depending on what you like. They have a variety of food and a lot of vegetarian options. One kothuroti can feed up to 1 to 2 people. PLACE: Small place made for takeout or catering. CALL IN AND ORDER if you don't want to be stuck waiting in line. They are the busiest on Fridays and the weekends. PRICE: $-$$ cheap and affordable! One kothurothi costs only $5

Interesting menu without prices for the most part

Delicious food but service is a little odd. No menu but prices are very good. We had the chicken and mutton kothu rotis and 3 mutton rolls for 16 flat. I suggest a mutton roll to try but otherwise, the kothu rotis were super tasty. Beware because they use a lot of green chilies. No sitting room so take out only!

lamb biryani with a piece of chicken $9. Tasted like hakka to be honest!

It is quite spacious and has a lot of seating to come dine in but does also do take out options. The staff is quite slow here to come take your food and even for your food to come out, so be prepared for that! It took quite some time for one of my friend's dishes to come out while the rest of us had even finished eating. But the staff are very nice and we were seated quite quickly, on the plus side. When it came to the food, everything was pretty good!! We got quite a few appetizers including: Gopi 65 (which was delicious), Chili Idli (would come back just for this) and the Bhaaji. And for our entrees we got the Garlic Parotta with Kurma (would pass on this), Paneer Biryani (was okay), Paneer Masala Dosa (was good) the Mushroom Uthapam (was good) and the Chili Parotta (would pass on this). Overall the food was good, definitely had some dishes I would come back for. If you're looking for some South Indian food in Scarborough I would recommend! 7/10 Recommend!

I won't lie, I was overwhelmed at first on what to pick, so I highly recommend going with a group so you can try a bit of everything. The portion sizes are great, we had so much leftover! The variety is so nice. Taste wise, every dish had my heart. It was all packed with flavour and tasted authentic. The stars for me were the Paneer Chettinad and Parotta with Kurma. Atmosphere -5/5 The interior of this place is insane! It feels like walking into an emperor's house! All the walls have paintings of hindu gods, and the restaurant is decorated so well. It's pretty big so perfect for smaller or larger groups. I'd try to get a reservation on busier nights. Service - 5/5 The staff is super helpful ! We asked a lot of question on what to order and they were so helpful. They would check in on us to, when it's super busy it happened less frequently but totally understandable. Will I go again? Everything was done through online ordering where my payment was taken, and when I went in store to pay I was told they never received my payment and tried to charge me twice. Overall the service here for both in person and take out, is not the greatest. Wait times are long and the staff is not very attentive. When it comes to the food, it's okay. I have ordered the Charminar Veg Dum Biryani would not recommend. Previously have also ordered their Chana Masala and Gopi Manchurian which is decent. The Good I had the Goat Biryani Combo from their lunch menu and it was very filling and delicious! It actually included two chicken side dishes, naan, raita, salan, and dessert, making this combo a great value. It was also very filling! The Bad The actual price of the meal was $3.00 more than stated on their menu. Their menu is online and you have to scan a QR code pasted to the table to view it on your mobile phone. Hmmm, suppose you didn't have a phone, or an app to read the QR code? How would I know if I was being scammed by my server? The Not So Great The restaurant is large, obviously two units. One side is very dark and the other side brightly lit. Decor is very stark. Very! The wall surfaces are hard so you could easily hear every word of every conversation taking place in the restaurant. I was seated at a round table that had four place settings but the extra settings were not removed when I was seated. How long had they been there? There was also a pitcher of water (room temperature) on each table. How long has that been there? All the plates were noticeably chipped. This is the most upscale looking Charminar I've been to but they have a lot to learn about service. My experience at their other locations was far better! At least I enjoyed the food. PS - I never got the dessert.

They give you a complimentary snack, in a form of potato sticks (not entirely sure what it was). To start: - Samosa 10/10 They were huge! Perfectly fried and stuffed with spiced potatoes and green peas. Came with a green and red chutney. Green chutney was refreshing while the red chutney was sweet and spicy! - Pani Puri Shots 10/10 Great presentation on this, shots of green mint and tamarind water, topped with mini poori with chickpeas and potatoes. Loved the way they served this as a shot, it was packed with flavour and exploded with the refreshing mind and tamarind water in the mouth once you ate it. Mains: - Butter chicken 8/10 Was buttery and smooth in texture and loaded with chicken. It definitely was lacking something in the flavour that I couldn't pin point, but still a great easy option for anyone that doesn't like too much spice. - Garlic naan 10/10 Huge! And can't go wrong with this to pair with your butter chicken. - Goat curry 9/10 Packed with delicious spices and had a huge kick of heat to it, so be aware! It's a young goat dish slowly simmered in a rich Indian gravy/ curry. Highly recommend to eat this with some rice. Can't wait to come back when I'm having that Indian food craving! The newly renovated interior itself is a winner!
