I went to this place based on a recommendation from a friend I got the chilli chicken kothu roti and the mutton rolls they are very sneaky here they charge an extra 15 cents if you use debit or credit. I got the chilli chicken kothu roti spicy man it was spicy, with extra gravy, the chilli chicken had a good flavor to it and it was really spicy I got it spicy. The kothu roti was cooked perfectly and the mutton rolls was crispy and tender on the inside and it had a good amount of mutton as well. The service was fast and efficient and I got my food in less than ten minutes. My favourite was the mutton rolls and very decent price except for the 25 cent surcharge. read more

I ordered the chicken biriyani and mutton rolls from Gasa and it was good. I asked for the biriyani to be mild so children can eat it. The mutton rolls definitely had a nice spice to it. Overall great experience flavour and value for money. Customer service was also good. If you are in the mood for Sri Lankan food would recommend you try Gasa. read more

I love the chicken biryani here. It is one of my fav places for chicken biryani takeout. The service is quick and the food is delicious. They dont take credit card which makes it a bit difficult but the food is reasonably priced and they will modify the spices to your liking. The portions are generous and typically food for 2 people. Great service and yummy food! I came in on Sunday around 630pm. Lineup was close to the door, but mind you, this place is very small. There were about 6 other people in there waiting. They don't have any proper menus listed on the walls so it's good to go to their website to check what you'd like. When it was my turn to order, I told them I've never been here before and that I don't know what to order (I don't know the full names of things, but I do love Tamil food. One of my roommates in college was Tamil and I'd eat everything!). They gave me options and I ordered the chicken kotthu roti and 2 egg/onion rotis. He made sure I wanted extra spicy twice which I did. I made some friends while waiting about 7-9 minutes which was nice. What was even better is that this place is cheap! It was a massive portion of the kotthu ($6.50) and the roti ($1.50 each) was thick and big as well. I grabbed a Diet Coke and my total came up to $12! I also saw on the website/listed on the wall that spring rolls are 5 for $1 and their small patties are 3 for $1. I have mixed feelings about this place. Their kothu roti is delicious! The chili chicken one especially. But the service....not so great. Call and ordered 2 mild chili chicken kothu rotis($8 each) tonight. First off, they never really note down your name or number when you call in to order, they just mark down that there's a meal to prepare. I was having people over (hence the reason to call in and order) and was kind of in a rush to get home. I went to pick up the food about 30 minutes after calling in to order. There's a whole flock of people inside the store, and when I finally make it to the front, the lady at the register says....oh it took you soo long to get here, so your orders gone, I'll make you a new one in 5 minutes.... Clearly just tryna stall for time, but I was cheesed that she gave my order away. I don't think 30 minutes is a long time to go pick up your order after, especially if she never asked me on the phone what time I was gunna come pick up the food. 10 minutes after waiting, I finally got my food. No apology for the extra wait, just a ..here's your food, will that be debit or cash (they don't take credit). Overall, very unimpressed by my experience, and I'll be back for the food, but the service is definitely a 1/5 stars in my books. read more

Delicious food but service is a little odd. No menu but prices are very good. We had the chicken and mutton kothu rotis and 3 mutton rolls for 16 flat. I suggest a mutton roll to try but otherwise, the kothu rotis were super tasty. Beware because they use a lot of green chilies. No sitting room so take out only! read more

Havent really been introduced to Tamil food until last year. Knew about babu's but never went. I heard really good things about the Kottu Roti at Gasa; had to try it out. Pretty good. The chilli chicken is my favourite one as it is different from other tamil dive ins that i have tasted. They are very affordable. However; i just ordered the chicken biryani. Even though they are very generous with their portion . Lots of chicken and rice. It failed to capture the same taste as Suvaiyakam Restaurant down at Birchmount and Finch who also offer a veg and salad (which Gasa didnt). No complaints as it was ok. It tasted a bit like hakka. 50 New Delhi Dr, Markham, ON L3S 0B5 Date visited : Tues April 24th 2018 Had just come back from Brampton after dealing with a client's computer woes. Did not feeling like cooking, so wife and I decided to grab some Chicken Biryani, some veggie spring rolls, some chicken patties and a few fish patties. We were recommended to Gasa by a friend who is also a Yelper. Service : well due to the line up the service times were kinda on the slow side, a lot of people were placing orders. This resto is purely take out only, no dining area at all. Food : Chicken Biryani I'd give 5/5, and I'm by no means an expert on the dish, just that this has been our 3rd time trying the dish, we had previously tasted 2 other locations and this has been the best one for us. In future tho, likely to skip the spring rolls and the chicken/fish patties, cheap tho they may be, those items just weren't up our alley. Payment method : cash/debit, uncertain about credit card as of this writing. Repeat visit : we'll gladly be back for the Chicken Biryani, and I'm interested to try the Chicken Kothu Roti. Service was terrible, and I understand that we're in a pandemic, but we were rushed and interrupted during our order, "I have other people waiting, hurry up", as if we weren't paying customers ourselves. Absolute garbage service. Placed an order 30 minutes in advance and once I got there there's one person at the front to take peoples orders. Absolutely no system put in place to handle orders. They answer phone calls and talk about if their friends are drunk. The cashier got to me and asked the kitchen staff if my food was ready. 5 minutes later a kitchen staff comes to ask me what my order was and I waited an extra 20 minutes to receive my food. You can get the same quality food at any other Sri Lankan eatery. To top it off they completely ignored their faults no apology when I paid. Will not be bringing my business here again read more

So I had their chilli chicken kothu last night.... And had a stomachache since. It wasn't only me, but all 4 of my other friends who had the same thing are sick too. As a young Tamil guy in his late 20's, I never understood why my parents hated buying food from a Tamil restaurant while I was growing up, until I experienced it this year. OMG! It's the same at every busy Tamil restaurant in the GTA. Food items are never marked, so you end up asking "What's this? What's that? How much for one? Is it sweet or spicy?" While you are doing this (and I'm Tamil, you expect this from a foreigner aka white guy), the 'lineup' behind you gets visibly frustrated. When I say 'lineup', I don't mean that in the Western sense of the word. Imagine India (scary huh?), then imagine Indian roads during rush hour. The confusion, the people budding in-front of you, the guy who just walked in the store and yells out his order (even though their's a million people in front of him) and the dozen or so people working the front who can't seem to get the control of the crowd or simply don't care. That's just ordering your food. Then comes the wait...oh, you better love waiting. That guy you saw, who came 10 minutes after you...yeah, he got his food...and you're waiting for the same food. After waiting some more, they finally call for you. But you're far from done. Now you have to 'battle' your way to the cash register. It's like a heard of animals in the African safari around the water hole, the water hole being the cash register. For the love of Krishna, "Move out the way so I can pay Auntie". Of course Auntie looks at you like you married her daughter without her permission (maybe because I'm tall, dark and handsome...damn, should of used Fair and Lovely, could of solved these types of problems). You grab your food and like a running back (first generation Tamil people reading this are scratching their heads and asking what a running back is), you duck and dodge and jump over the millions of Uncle, Aunties, bratty kids, the Tamil girls with the blonde hair and blue eyes...WTF?!?, the young guys who's hair looks like Sideshow Bob from the Simpsons and the has-been gangsters (you know, those guys in high-school in the 90's to late 2000's , who's sole purpose was to be 'cool' and now wash dishes at Swiss Chalet etc. and finally, you are outside this restaurant, telling yourself that you will NEVER, EVER buy Tamil food again...until you get that urge, that powerful urge to put something spicy in your mouth...that's what she said. read more
