Poor Service for First-Time Customers - Beware!! I chose this Westchester auto shop based on positive reviews. I called ahead to schedule an oil change and was told as long as I bring my car in when they open, it shouldn't take long. Upon arriving at 8:15am Thursday, they said the service would take 1-2 hours, so I walked the 30 minutes home rather than wait. By 1pm, I hadn't heard anything and my calls went to voicemail. At 1:40pm, needing my car by 2pm and still without any callback, I walked back to find them just starting on my vehicle - 5.5 hours after drop-off and nothing was done, not even an update!! I told them to cancel the service, and I took my car. While they may treat regular customers well (based on the positive reviews), my experience as a first-timer was unacceptable. New customers should be prepared for subpar service(or no service at all). I won't be returning to discover if repeat customers fare better. read more

My opinion is: beware. I wanted to trust this place, but they charged 5 times the hours of labor compared to multiple mechanics online who showed the same sensor replacements on my exact car model. They took advantage because they knew my car was towed there. Other issue was they didn't call me to say my car was already finished Friday afternoon when they were closed Saturday. They did get it done same day which I appreciate, but because of the above violations of my trust, I'll use another shop next time. Other issues were I asked them to swap my FOG bulbs and they didn't do it. The front desk guy responded by saying the daytime running lights were already working fine. When I reminded that I had clearly asked for the FOG lights to be swapped, his story changed to that my provided bulbs were not the correct size. He needs to look up that H4 bulb is the same as 9003... They also incorrectly re-inserted my HID low beam bulb and my left headlight is now completely misaligned. These are both basics and don't give me trust in them either. read more

Incompetent and Rude. These two words pretty much define their business. I took my BMW 328i for left beam malfunction and 'Adaptive headlights on' message. Gary told me it can be done in a day. They kept the car for 4 days and still didn't fix the problem completely. They stopped answering my calls at one point. I finally went in the evening to pick up my car and it was in 2 distinct pieces. When I questioned Gary, he got extremely defensive and started attacking me saying 'You're wrong'. He just asked me to take the car and leave if I want to. His sidekick Jesse asked me to 'Get out' of the garage because I was standing one foot inside. They came to their senses after I lashed out and put them in their place. The only reason I'm not giving them one star is because Gary had the decency to call me next day and apologize. Doesn't deter from the fact that they don't know how to talk to customers or conduct business. Choose them at your own peril! read more

Gary has been taking care of my BMW X3 for the past couple of years and I've been thankful to have found him. Today I went in to get an oil change before driving cross country to Florida. During the oil change the tech noticed I needed brake fluid and did that service. Gary called me and apologized for not telling me about the brake fluid service and that it would be on the house. When I got my car I noticed the brake fluid job would have been $115 and Gary put it on the house. Really nice of him to do that and he was not being prompted by me to do it. Pure class. He also gave me a few quarts of oil on the house just in case I needed any on my long drive. Recently Gary recommended a tire shop in Inglewood (Wise Tires) and they hooked me up with a great deal on four tires. Gary is the man and you should go to him with your automobile needs. This place is beyond great! I took my 2000 Volvo S70 here for a serious coolant leak. The techs here found and fixed an issue I didn't even known about (and showed me the worn out parts without me even needing to ask)! Everything was done in a timely manner, very communicative, and my car drives better than ever. It started leaking oil and they got down to it, I was without a car for a few days but came back to me all nicely. Everyone is super nice... and honest. Finding a great mechanic that you could trust and depend is hard. I'm sure everyone could relate with me. My car check engine light was on and there is a noise whenever I pressed the break. Gary's fixed the issues on the check engine light and he told me that my car's break was okay that I don't need a new break. Gary is helpful and honest he did not try to find issues that did not exist to make more money. Gary is helpful and trustworthy. After coming in here for a couple of quick things and having positive experiences I thought this is the place where I can tow my car after it died. The tow guy diagnosed the problem 'starter dead' and Jesse from Gary's pit stop indeed confirmed this. After few hours I got a phone call and a quote around $420 (parts $230 & labor 2 hours). I was told I will be called again later to confirm the price (Jesse wasn't 100% about it). After checking youtube, I saw that repairs take 10 minutes, and I could find parts online for $50, and called Pepboys etc (parts were from $100). I called another mechanic nearby to check for a quote - and their first sentence when I asked was "Just so you know our price isn't cheap but we pride in our work". Their quote was $380. I came to Gary's to push my car away (to my house) as I was going to do repairs by myself. By this time Jesse gave me the final quote ($484). I secretly hoped his final quote will be way lower - not higher. I said this is way over my budget and I'll take the car. In that moment - the owner was supposedly on the phone ordering the part (even though I was never asked to confirm the quote and never heard the final price until just then). $484 to replace a starter. Finally, as I was about to push my car out - I was charged $45 for diagnosing the problem. I guess that's OK. Didn't really expect it. But at this point, they were probably expecting me to pay $484 so they just got what they could. I felt hustled. But wanted to hold any judgement until I am sure this repair is really not such a big deal. I ordered the part online for $70 (one with lots of reviews etc, not the cheapest one). It arrived the next day. And I borrowed tools from my friend. I spent 2 hours fixing (with occasional breaks, re-watching youtube tutorials making sure I'm doing it right). It took ME 2 hours. I have NEVER done any kind of car repair. Ultimately, I felt Garry's Pitstop was a place I can count on when I'm really in need. It showed the opposite of that. read more
