The roof was installed after our home inspection was completed but before we moved in. When we moved in we noticed nail pops and a few nails poking through in various rooms upstairs. Our inspector didn't report these which he had on a home inspection on another house so we knew that they had to have occurred after the new roof installation. We also noticed some shingles curling up on one edge of the house. I called Bill and he was willing to work with us on getting the issues resolved. Long story short, he came out himself to nail down the shingles that were curling up and reimbursed us for the cost of getting the nail pops/poke thrus fixed. You don't come across many business these days that do business with integrity, pride and follow-through but I felt that Assurance Roofing did. Our aluminum gutters were installed with the house over 35 years ago. They were leaking and…read moredripping water on those coming to the front door. We asked around the neighborhood to see what gutters others had installed. Universally, they said their "Leaf Guard" gutters were a disappointment, being hard to clean, grew moss on the outside, and generally a pain. We decided to replace ours with a "plain" style. A friend, who hires contractors to maintain their rent houses, recommended Willy's Gutters. Mike was quick to respond and came out to make a visual inspection and listen to our concerns. He quickly submitted a detailed estimate for K5 gutters. We studied the gutter types and volume and decided to upsize to a K6 as they were closer to the size of our existing gutters. I had already received a review from another company who just used a Google Maps picture to estimate the project. Mike was far more competitive pricewise and seemed far more personable. While there was an initial snafu with scheduling, the second appointment five days later was met on time. At the appointed time, the two-man crew arrived, quickly assessed the project and began work. While their English was minimal, my high-school Spanish was enough, and when it was not, Google Translate helped clear up my questions. They were able to remove and install the gutters without disturbing my ham radio antenna cables. They also placed two extension downspouts to move runoff away from the foundation as our french drains had long since clogged. The team was very (very) careful when handling the long lengths of gutter to protect our windows and siding. We will need to have our painters return and do some touch-ups given the new type of downspout brackets which are screwed in instead of nailed. The gutters were not nailed on as before--they use a new screw-bracket system which should make adjustments easier in the future. After the job, the team did a thorough walk-through, and we only found one small shard with a nail. They used a magnetic broom to pick up stray screws. They removed all of the old gutters and downspouts. The gutters are guaranteed for seven years. The new gutters look a bit different, but I think we made the right choice. We don't have fascia boards, but they covered the rafters nicely. Just a note: I thought aluminum gutters would not rust. They didn't. However, they do corrode over time. They were supposed to last 30 years--they exceeded that estimate.

When I told Mike about this, he said that he was pushy and said "You're the only customer that ever asked to fill the top nail holes." He tried bullying but when I didn't nudge he agreed to fix them. That is the right way to do top nail and I shouldn't even be needing to tell that to a professional hardware installer that. He also didn't know if my floors were white or red oak and not sure what he ordered to match them. These have 102 year old. Sigh. He came and corrected the floors when I withheld payment but they just lightly sanded again and put wood filler everywhere. You are supposed to used the natural sawdust to blended. The filler is noticeable. Honestly the floors looked before before the work with the exception of the new color and no scratches. Overall lots of back and forth and pressing Mike to finish things to a good level. Quality control was an issue. Pros: He was prompt, flexible, showed up, nice (with the exception of when I complained), fairly patient, and eventually finished the job to a mid level satisfaction. I wouldn't hire him for a historic house. I regret my decision when two other refinished were experts in top nail. He was only $500 less expensive than them.

There were multiple units being worked on in our area so our complex & parking lot was strewn with construction debris, nails, falling pieces of wood while they worked on roofing, etc. I lost count of how many nails got stuck in my tire. The worst part was when they did glass work and the glass SHATTERED all over the unit during the removal process early in the morning. I was finding chunks of glass months later. There was no apology, no contact from management. Just a MESS. The absolute most unprofessional construction company I've ever come across. It is unfortunate that as renters we don't have a choice as to who gets hired to do work on our place of residence. Before moving in, I found construction defects, damage to personal property, they completely missed items on the scope causing breach of contact, had to replace plumbing fixtures but never submitted a change order, and dozens more. I don't think the insurance company is aware they've been charged for items Mcleod SKIPPED or multiple items added (ex: the scope says to paint window trim in the Entry but there is no window trim). After moving in I discovered multiple fire hazards, plumbing issues, handles were uneven or partially unscrewed, dirt and debris in the new cabinets and drawers, equipment left behind, and so much more. Because of the safety hazards and multiple construction issues- I filed a complaint with L&I and contacted the city permitting office. They are receiving a violation from L&I for doing electrical without a permit and for not obtaining a building permit. They did not apply for a permit until Aug 2025- TWO months AFTER we moved back in. IT'S BEEN OVER 365 DAYS SINCE REPAIRS STARTED AND THE PERMIT IS STILL NOT APPROVED!
