When we first met, he asked me a few questions about my desires and somehow found a way to tame my thick, long hair and help me look my best. The haircuts he gives me accentuate my features in a subtle and lovely way. He has amazing skill and creativity, and he sincerely cares about his clients. I admire his passion and drive. I thought my curly hair was fairly unexciting but she's changed its shape and I've never felt better about my cut. And I get lots complements on my many shades of blonde. Firstly, go to Jeff. Secondly, I take it back, don't go to Jeff because then it'll be harder to get appointments with him! I first heard of this place via a write up on some of the best salons in Seattle in Seattle Mag back in 2009. Specifically, I heard of Jeff through that article, and his prowess with creating cool, unique, short cuts. Conveniently I was looking for just that at the time, so I called him up and next thing I know I'm getting my past-the-shoulders hair cut down to a long pixie! The cut turned out super cool, and a year later Jeff is still my go-to guy. Being an Aveda salon, you'll soon be converted to only their products as they all smell incredible. Besides all that, the place is warm and welcoming, stylish without being pretentious, friendly and cool. When I used to live in Seattle, having my hair colored by Stephen Pace was a sure way to look and feel beautiful. I moved twice - last time across the country, and I still cannot find anyone who can do such an excellent job. It might sound insane, but the last time I flew 5 hours from East Coast to have Stephen fix a complete disaster of a color job that an overly-confident, professional-sounding French salon owner in DC did on my long hair. I could not trust anyone else with the 'repairs', but Stephen. My hair was half-orange, half-ashy gray with startling bright streaks of color. Love this place! I've been going to Maria for a couple of years now, and I couldn't be happier with my hair. I've asked for some complicated looks, especially when it comes to color. She delivers every time, and the result is usually even better than I envisioned it. I'm trying to grow my hair out now, and hadn't gone in for a cut in six months or so. Things were looking a little sloppy, so I asked her how much she'd charge for a quick trim to fix up the ends. She said it was on the house! They treat their clients so well - such incredible service, and it keeps me loyal. It doesn't hurt that Maria is super friendly, and always remembers what's going on in my life, even if it's been a long time since I last saw her. I've been coming to Gary Manuel for about two years now to see Maria. Everyone who works at the salon is always very nice and attentive, but above all Maria has been giving me one great cut after another. With Maria's expertise and professional advice I was brave enough to get a pixie cut and loved it. All through the growing out process Maria helped me keep looking good. She has great skill with color as well, I never got so many compliments on my hair till I started coming to see Maria. She is also a fun person to be around, she is an artist who paints incredible paintings! Each session begins with Maria asking what you're looking for, then pulling up a few pics on her Ipad to confirm and give advice. This is followed by an invigorating scalp massage and shampoo. Next, comes the cut or color and a hand massage. The whole experience leaves me feeling pampered and relaxed. Is there a 6 rating for "better than it gets"?! I LOVE this place! First, they are welcoming. At the front desk and in the chair. They never seem rushed. On a recommendation from a friend I made an appointment with Connie. I explained to her that my hair and I have had a lifelong battle and that I have had only a couple of hair cuts that I have liked and far more that have I have not. I told her what I wanted and brought in pictures explaining that I realized it may not be realistic for my hair to look like the pictures. She listened attentively and made sure I was OK with what she was doing every step of the way. She took nearly 45 minutes just to STYLE my hair because it was more of a lesson than anything else. She wanted to make sure that I would be able make my hair look the way I wanted once I left. I left LOVING my hair and happy to have met Connie. While I thought I could never get my hair to look like that again, I was happy with that one experience. But this experience, in more ways than one, turned out to be like no other. I've been styling my hair and WOW! I can, for the first time ever, make it look like it did in the salon. Connie's lesson paid off and the cut is perfect. I should say, I am not one to style my hair and even without a blow out, the cut is so perfect, my unmanageable hair would look good without it. I am also not someone who likes to spend a lot of money on a hair cut. This, however, was far more than a haircut! Finally, the salon called on behalf of Connie (she has been out ill) to see how I was feeling about the cut and answer any questions. Now what salon does that?! I usually go to Phase 3 for affordability reasons, but I did come here in order to get a cut and color by Karlie before my wedding in August. I was one of her regulars while she was at Phase 3 and knew I had to follow her to the main salon to make sure my hair was perfect for the wedding! I have been seeing Ashley Treasure for a couple of years as my hair stylist, she does both my color and cut. Not only she's very gentle, but also listens to my needs and does exactly what I ask her. She's very pleasant to talk to yet she lets you relax and enjoy your appointment. She helps you with the products, but is not pushy to try to sell them to you. The salon has great variety of hair products and this is where I buy all of mine. Her fees match the services you get and I think they're within average and not too expensive. I went to Gary Manuel Salon partially because I had been given a gift certificate, and partially because they have awesome reviews and I love aveda products. I called to book my appointment on Saturday and was lucky to get a next day appt. for Sunday, but was sad the the stylist I wanted (based on yelp reviews) didn't work on Sundays. I booked anyway and was scheduled to see Melissa. I then of course searched the yelp reviews for her name, and didn't find any. So today after my appointment with her I knew it was my duty to give her a review! Melissa was AMAZING. First off, she is one of the less expensive stylists, which is especially great for me since I'm pretty much poor. Secondly she was super duper friendly, and seemed genuine about it, not fake at all. Thirdly, she gave me a fantastic haircut, with very little direction. She asked me a few questions about what I wanted, and all I had to offer was "cut it." She talked me through her idea, and I said go for it and, WOW!, it looks great. I also really liked that she wasn't super chatty while she cut (which she warned me of, telling me that she gets very focused and tends not to talk much). I like to be able to read a magazine and not feel obligated to make small talk, so I really liked that about her. She told me about the products she was using as she did my hair, but did not pressure me to buy anything at all which I also appreciated. I will definitely be going to see her again, I am so happy to have finally found a stylist in Seattle! Also a quick tip for anyone new considering going there... That's what someone wrote about Heather Dobson and I agree: Heather has been cutting and coloring my hair for about 8 years now and keeps coming up with new ideas that are fun and cool. I get compliments all the time -- even though my hair is mostly gray!
