He was incredibly helpful throughout the process: from drawing up a modern design, selecting beautiful trees / plants / grasses, and meticulously overseeing execution on the day of planting / installation. Brent was very knowledgeable and left us with the information needed to keep our garden in great condition for years to come.

I had the task of turning a very large and very public front yard into something people would enjoy walking by. It started as an overgrown field of weeds and was transformed into pure magic, complete with useful plants and herbs that not only look beautiful, but are hummingbird and bee-friendly, can be used in teas and tinctures, and have truly brought the neighborhood together. He also created me a brand new path that my friends call "the yellow brick road". Brent is 100% the real deal. It doesn't hurt that he's friendly, honest, hard-working, and funny. We've since moved, but have hired other landscape designers and they don't even hold a candle to the vision, design and implementation Jason and his crew accomplished. And for a descent price. Since our yard liked to flood, he implemented a french drain and slope to carry water from downspouts AND sump-pump out to a well-designed wet-area that overflowed to the alley. The creative use of trees/shrubs, lighting all worked great together. I'd highly recommend. Wish we could get him to Kansas City now.

He transformed our muddy, scruffy, sloping yard, where not even an invasive species would take root, into a beautiful haven filled with foliage, blossoms and a rain garden. Due to budget constraints, we spread the project out over a couple years, tackling regrading, hardscaping and drainage first, and then moved forward with shrub and plant installation, completed in November of 2022. This is the first season we've seen the finished project. Spring was an abundance of blossoms, summer an ever blooming perennial border. I can't wait to see what autumn will bring. We love sitting out on our newly level patio enjoying coffee at a table that no longer wobbles. But my favorite part of the project is the new water drainage system and rain garden. I can honestly say our basement hasn't flooded since those additions were laid in place; a completely unanticipated benefit. If you ever have the immensely good fortune to have Jason, of Square Root Garden Design come to your yard to make an estimate, don't ever let him get away. He came out the next day, gave us a very fair quote and said he'd be back within 2 weeks to do the work. He then called 3 days later and said he had an opening in the schedule if we wanted our project done sooner. We were thrilled. They came out and completed the work in 2 days. Not only did they do an amazing job, but they actually cleaned up all of the mess that our previous landscaper left in our garage. I was floored by their level of service, responsiveness and professionalism. One of the other projects we had them do was to re-sod our front yard. They did the work right before 4th of July and we went out fo town for a day or two, which meant the fresh sod didnt get watered for 2 days and dried out. We bought our house last summer knowing that there was lawn and garden work that needed to be done, but then promptly forgot about it. By this summer, two trees, a lot of our plants, and most of our lawn was dead or dying. Freddy to the rescue! He resodded my lawn, planted numerous (low maintenance) plants, took down the two dying trees, power washed our patio, and remulched our gardens-- it looks like a whole new place! The work he did would have taken my husband and I weeks to do (not to mention, require renting a power washer and a stump chipper), and it would never have looked so nice! Plus, his prices were very reasonable. Since our outdoors looks so great, I probably won't need help out there for awhile, but when I do, I'm calling Freddy!

He was punctual, polite and one of the most honest people I've ever met. He brought a bunch of samples (like carpet) for us to choose from. After we decided on getting the grass, he explained the whole procedure to us and even told us he'd be making minor improvements (fixing our pavers and retaining wall). Joe's price was significantly less than anything else I was quoted. Joe was able to do the install very quickly and this is honestly the best purchase we have made for our house. The grass is BEAUTIFUL and the dogs love it. We have 2 puggles that love to go and run around on it and lay on it.
