I am a big fan of the Garscube Sports Complex. I have been here to go running and I have also played tennis and many of my male friends play football here each week. We all love it. It is the home of outdoor sport at the University of Glasgow and is located off Maryhill Road, on the opposite side of the river from the universities Vet School.
You will need to a member of the Glasgow University Gym to be able to access the facilities. Full Access is £340 annually or £28.35/per month standing order or £38.50/individual month. Weekday Access is £272 annually or £22.70/per month standing order or £30.70/individual month. Weekend Access will cost £97.85 annually or £8.15/per month standing order or £13.75/individual month. Garscube Only Access will set you back £150 annually or £12.50/per month Direct Debit or £14.00/per individual month. If you want weekend and Vacation Access £180 annually or £15.00/per month Direct Debit. When the students are off there is also a Vacation Access price of £5 registration and £3.75/visit.
To quote their website, Garscube Sports Complex has: 2 state-of-the-art, all weather, synthetic pitches (one sand based and one 3rd generation rubber crumb); 6 grass pitches which can be set up for any number of sports; exercise studio; The Justin Langham Fitness Suite; 3 tennis courts; cricket oval; extensive walking and jogging routes within our grounds; changing, shower and lockers facilities; social area with a variety of vending machines selling refreshments and snack options; fully equipped committee/meeting room.
That is a serious amount of sport so if you can ask a student friend who is a member of the gym to recommend you then I would be extra nice and take them out for a nice meal. Your body will thank you in the long run. read more
