It's a Chi Town tradition.... Why is it famous? They have been popping gourmet corn since 1949 when they opened their first store at 10 West Madison Street. It's been said, "It's simply the best popcorn in the world. The Garrett Mix is the most addictive thing I've ever put in my mouth." I love it too. The Cashew Carmel Crisp is da bomb! -

Garrett's Cheese and Caramel Popcorn Mix - none better :)

Having lived in Chicago for years and having tried many others, when there's a crave, none other than "Garret's Cheddar and Caramel Mix" will do. Since moving to Dallas, not the same but many online tin purchases I've made. Ecstatic I am now to pick up a bag of "IT" freshly popped here at DFW. Fingers always dyed yellow at the end of the bag. Ratio of 3 savory pops of cheddar to 1 heavenly pop of caramel is how I love IT, Always have, Always will. CHEERS!

When the hubs is traveling through DFW, and knows the key to your heart! #ChicagoMix

I first heard of Garrett's Popcorn when Oprah featured it on her "favorite things" ages ago. True to the hype, I must say that there aren't many things better than Garrett's Chicago Mix (caramel+cheddar) popcorn! Thankfully, I have another option outside of traveling to Chicago to get my hands on some of it! On his last business trip, the hubs stopped and grabbed me a bag and I'm in love-- again! As type this (with butter and sweetness) on my hands, I can vouch for the fact that the DFW location serves the same, amazing popcorn that I love in Chicago! If you haven't tried it, you MUST!

Been there twice. I got the crispy caramel when I went there for the first time. Since I saw the place on TV I always wanted to try. It was pretty good but not good enough to convince me for coming back. Second time I went there, I was on my way to my family's house and had 10 min to pick up souvenirs before departure. Since this place was right next to my gate I decided to pick up their cheese popcorn. They all LOVED it. I got a small bag but they all finished it so quick. I tried some too and it was delicious. Now I know every time I visit them, I will have to pick up some cheese popcorn for them :)

Old popcorn. Don't buy at the DFW airport. Wonderful at other locations where it is not multiple days old.

We started at the near the top floor, by seeing the dinosaur skeletons and learning about fossils. And then we went to the bird area. My kids liked getting to go to the different kiosks to make their dream bird, as well as the bird flight simulator. I very much enjoyed the gem and minerals hall. Every 80s kid had a rock collection when they were growing up -- right??? Well, if you're part of that group, this area is for you. I loved seeing the different gems as well as the giant amethyst geode. This museum has a lot to explore. A lot of it is reading and screen based, though there were enough interactive exhibits mixed in to keep my kids entertained and learning. We would definitely come back!

The Dallas Art Museum is free for most of the museum, with special exhibits costing extra, but honestly there is plenty to see without spending a dime. They have Renoirs, Picassos, Monets, and so much more. The bathrooms are surprisingly very nice, the AC was absolutely on point, and it was not crowded when we visited. A perfect spot to get a little culture in between meals. Honestly, a must hit for out of town visitors looking for something fun to do that does not involve eating. Be sure to hit the gift store too, a museum gift shop is usually well curated, and this one is no exception! (though I will say the lady working the store had a sh:tty attitude)

The DMA has a supporter membership for $120. It includes parking which would cost you $20 otherwise. You also get two free admission tickets that you can use to view the museum's collections or any special exhibitions each and every day of the year. The membership will also provide a discount at the museum store and in the snack bar. Visit twice during the year, and the membership more than pays for itself. You can buy your membership online, print the receipt, and show it for free parking. Once inside the venue, show the receipt at the check-in desk to get your free tickets to the special exhibit(s). Your DMA cards will be mailed to you in four weeks, in the mean time, use that printed receipt for everything. We renewed our membership this weekend April 2026 and went to see the Samurai Collection. Metalwork is not a favorite of mine, but I was still fascinated by the stories presented on the placards throughout the exhibit and I certainly appreciated the beautiful, intricate craftsmanship presented in each piece. I didn't realize that the Samurai swords and armor had been banned from production in Japan, so the metal workers pivoted and learned to become artisans. They started to make and repair metal embellishments, lanterns, and incense burners for the numerous temples in the country. Many of the items in this collection were from Kyoto and Nara, both places my husband and I visited in November 2009. The full body armor was fascinating. Little pieces of leather were coated in metal, painted, and woven tightly together to form a moveable, but protective layer over the body. The workmanship was exquisite. The exhibit had a few short videos you could watch to learn about the work. I especially liked the 30 second clip about the process of making cloisonné. These vases are beautiful and the process to make each one is detailed and meticulous. Kids could collect a postcard-sized scavenger hunt near the entrance and use that to stay in engaged throughout the visit. At the end, there was a sign on the wall with the answer key pictures showing which art pieces help the intricate designs they were looking for. The DMA has a permanent collection that includes a variety of art from around the globe, as well as multiple special exhibits throughout the year. Everyone is bound to find something that delights them and inspires conversation and wonder. Worth a visit!

Fans from both countries were loud, passionate, and fully into the match from start to finish. Even as a neutral, it would have been hard not to get caught up in the energy. The stadium itself is massive and impressive the moment you walk in. Even from the upper level, the views were excellent, and the giant video board made it easy to follow every play. Section 420 gave a great perspective of the entire field and the crowd around the stadium. I was charged a significant amount for food that was never delivered. After the event, I sent multiple emails and received no response. The only way I was able to recover my money was by disputing the charge through my credit card company. Before leaving the stadium, I went to Customer Service to try to resolve the issue. I have a broken foot, so making the trip across the stadium was painful and inconvenient, but I wanted to give them the opportunity to help. Instead, I was told it was a "known issue." The staff seemed completely uninterested in resolving the problem, offered no meaningful assistance, and no one even apologized. It's hard to understand how a venue hosting one of the world's premier sporting events can provide such poor customer service. My first World Cup experience should have been memorable for the match itself, not for spending weeks trying to recover money for food I never received. Very disappointing.
