First Garrets popcorn shop I've seen in awhile, so we had to stop and get some. Little shop in DFW airport had a good selection. And we got cashew caramel corm and a three corn mix. Both had a great flavor, the best caramel flavor in the world in my opinion. The reason for the four star rating was the cashew corn was stale. No crunch at all, just a soft chew so it was either stale or the pit the caramel on incorrectly. Worth a taste first to make sure it is fresh. read more

Been there twice. I got the crispy caramel when I went there for the first time. Since I saw the place on TV I always wanted to try. It was pretty good but not good enough to convince me for coming back. Second time I went there, I was on my way to my family's house and had 10 min to pick up souvenirs before departure. Since this place was right next to my gate I decided to pick up their cheese popcorn. They all LOVED it. I got a small bag but they all finished it so quick. I tried some too and it was delicious. The first time I saw this Garrett's I actually went in and asked what city we were in because I didn't know they'd expanded outside Chicago and I was certain we'd landed in Dallas. Second round I was much more with it and when I found out we'd have a layover in Dallas made sure to have a game plan to get my Garrett's fix. There really isn't much more to say other than Garrett's offers the best cheese popcorn and the best caramel popcorn. Throw the two together for a little Chicago mix and bam! I bought 2 bags - Cheese and Chicago Mix, and unfortunately, even the day of, they were a bit chewy and stale tasting. Was a total disappointment :(. We had a long layover in Dallas and we were walking around looking for food when we stumbled upon Garrett's! We love their popcorn and always grab a bag when in Chicago. Sometimes, when I fly United, I'll even pay the overpriced fee for a small sampling. So when I saw they had a stand in the airport, I was sold. ***Garrett popcorn is now conveniently located at DFW though in one of the smaller terminals; the popcorn is good though not quite as good as what you will find in their Chicago or even Las Vegas and New York locations*** Garrett popcorn would definitely be considered a place for tourists. In Chicago, you will find their locations in many touristy areas whether it is the airport or the Magnificent Mile. Tourists create long lines at these locations and snap photos here and there. And at O'Hare, you will see people carrying bags and bags of popcorn to take home like that popular pink donut box place in Portland, Oregon. The reality with Garrett though is that it is also unique and quite delicious. The popcorn is always fresh with big fluffy pieces. They do not use preservatives, which means the popcorn will taste completely different in a few days where the popcorn will go from satisfyingly crunchy to unpleasantly squishy very quickly. The flavor is great too. The cheese popcorn has a great salty element without that dry powdery taste you get from most cheese popcorn. The caramel popcorn has an unbelievable crunch with the well coated caramel that ensures that each popcorn morsel is 100% coated without having those bits where the caramel accumulates too much and creates a toffee-like experience. The flavor has a deep caramel flavor that isn't too sweet and has even a salted caramel-like note. And when you combine the cheese with the caramel, it (maybe even surprisingly) becomes the perfect combination of salty and sweet. Garrett is expanding and you will find a new location at DFW. It is in the smaller American Airlines terminal featuring their American Eagle brand (regional flights), but you can easily get to this terminal from any DFW terminal via the SkyLink light rail. This Garrett is like any other Garrett where you can get reasonably priced popcorn in wax paper bags or you can opt for a more gift-like choice with their collectible tins, which are quite expensive. The popcorn is good here though I felt the seasoning was not as pronounced. I think they needed a little more cheese to bring the salty element out. More caramel would have added a more distinct crunch too. Still, this is a very good food item to take home or wherever you are going or visiting. Service was quick. Garrett is a great addition to DFW. It is definitely worth checking out (and going out of your way with the SkyLink) if you have never been. Garrett is located past security so it is only available to air travelers. DFW offers several offsite parking structures though it can take a long time to get from parking to your terminal given the vast amount of land that DFW takes up. read more

This is located in Terminal B, so if you are there already-GO. If you are in another terminal, take the shuttle if you have time. One time I took the shuttle to terminal B after my flight landed, just so I could grab a bag of Garrett's- it's that good. This is the same popcorn as in Chicago. They let you sample the different flavors and mix whatever you want. I started to buy a tin, but the cashier told me I would actually get more if I bought the bag, she was right.
