In 2015 I had several quotes from various Washtenaw, Monroe, and Lenawee Contractors for $15,000- $40,000. Brads son( I think it was his son) came out and quoted my house. After Brad came back from vacation he called me and gave me an offer I couldn't refuse. He installed a Trane 95% furnace, all new duct work, an A/C coil, a gas line, a digital thermostat and a gas AO Smith gas water heater ,for a fraction of the cost of other companies quoted. I had him come out and install the A/C compressor a several years later and he gave me a great price on that too. Brad did a professional install, he listened to all of my concerns about my vinyl siding and he followed up with me to make sure everything was solid both times, even during the pandemic. I would never use or recommend Garner Heating and Cooling Tecumseh Michigan. 0 for customer service, 0 for efficiently, 0 for knowledge of product. This is my experience with Brad Garner 1. Wanted a new electric unit put in but Brad Garner said to replace it with a new gas unit, AC and clean the duck work. Brad Garner came out quickly and was very friendly, polite, and acted very knowledgeable. He told us that the air quality would be better for my asthma. Since he installed the new unit & cleaned the vents I have to change the filters on my CPAP breathing machine every week. 2. They never turned in the rebate forms for my $1,000 rebate and I called and called 3. AC unit didn't work when spring came around. When they had installed the new unit they forgot to hook the AC up 4. Called Tuesday October 6th because the touch screen thermostat was not working. I was told someone would be out that day. Nobody came or called. Called the next day, Wednesday and was told again someone would be out and again no one should up. The owner Brad call about 8pm and was very rude, condescending, disrespectful to me as a women and kept questioning me on paper work and told me to go to the basement and look for the paperwork that was not there. 5. Called Thursday repeatedly and when Brad showed up was a arrogant, spoke very rudely and condescending. He spent an hour at my house and most of that time he was answering phone calls. When he took time to verify that yes my thermostat was broken he said "I've ordered a new one it might be here today, tomorrow or Monday. I said that me and my daughter had been without heat and we are just to go without heat he said yes. That he will put in the new thermostat in whenever it comes in. 6. Monday no thermostat, no heat, no call from Garner, and I again have called with the same answer "Your on the list". 7. New thermostat and within a couple of weeks 3 red warnings and 1 yellow. Have been calling since last week of October asking for someone to come out. Brad Garner answered the answered the phone the second week in December. Again was very rude, disrespectful, and irritated that I was bothering him. Gave him the warning numbers and he told me he would get back. Have never heard from him. This company was very unprofessional and I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They said they would be out between 10am to noon. They never showed up and I had to call them. I understand if you are running behind but you should be professional and call your customers to let them know. All he said was "oh it noon already, well I can come on Wednesday". It's getting cold and my heat is not working is what I said to him and he said well I was just trying to help. Yeah that's not helping or being professional, so I had to call someone else. read more

Scheduled twice for a A/C tuneup. First time given a 2 hour window, no show, no call...when I contacted them was told since it was raining they couldn't work on A/c so was rescheduled for the following week. Again, given a 2 hour window and again no show, no call. When I called was told technician tied up on another job. Communication is nonexistent. I understand things coming up on a job but there is absolutely no excuse for not keeping the customer advised And forcing the customer to track down what's going on. service Has been cancelled and I will take my business elsewhere. read more

These people have been out to my house three times. The first time, I asked them to look at my system because my husband was having difficulty fixing it. The kid told us we needed a part and we agreed. He told us the price and it was ridiculous. We told him that was a little steep - we would order it elsewhere but were more than happy to pay labor if he'd install it once it came. We did that and he installed it. Our heater went out again two months later. I called and asked them to come out again and see what the matter was. They sent somebody else and looked at my heater. I told the guy about the part issue we had before and he went on about how it's probably an issue because we ordered a faulty part. He finally retracted when I pointed out that my husband ordered it from the same place they do and it's also the same one they use. Then the guy said that we needed to redo some of the heating set-up in our house because it was building up too much moisture. We agreed and he said to call and set up an appointment with them because it would be a longer process. Three months later and I'm still waiting on them to call me back and give me an appointment. It's the dead of winter. I finally called a different company and they had a new heater (and a few new pieces installed) within 48 hours. The cherry on the top of the cake was when we were out for a meal with the family and our booth was right up to another couple. They were talking about fixing the same parts over and over at a local business and essentially saying nasty things about some of their customers. Within a few minutes, my husband recognized the gentleman as the man who was at our house the second time. I couldn't believe it. I wanted to say something as we left but decided not to. I would not recommend this company. Very unprofessional. The first visit was very cordial. However, I also had the gas company here at the same time. When I called back a week later for the same issue as previous week upon arrival, the service person examined furnace and then was persistent on trying to sell me a new furnace right away. His attitude become alarmingly unprofessional in my home where I am supposed to be secure with hiring people to work on equipment and the way he talked "at me" was belittling and negative....when I continued to ask further questions for verification as to why he thought I needed a new furnace.... he stormed out of my home to call his "Boss" still insisting I need a new furnace. He also shut my furnace down completely disabling the ability to even use the blower to circulate heat from my wood burner stove. Although their timing to get here worked perfectly---their attitude did not. I called for a second opinion to a friend who is a HVAC person but lives too far away from here, who recommended another company to call. THE other company that I called was at my home within an hour, and confirmed that the GARNER service person was misleading me into purchasing a new furnace and that mine was functioning just fine for now. The truth is, the age of my furnace will warrant a need later for a new one, but it is completely serviceable currently and this is the first couple of weeks I have had any issues with it. As a professional myself, I was completely taken back by the Garner service persons behavior, I felt like they were trying to take advantage of me(the consumer) and they became angry and frustrated when I (the consumer)was asking questions about their findings. read more

Garner Heating & Cooling installed an air conditioner and furnace into my newly purchased house in Fall 2016. At first everything seemed good: Garner came right over and assessed the job. He suggested switching the dryer to gas to accommodate the air conditioner's added electric needs. The home did not previously have an air conditioning unit. After the initial meeting with Garner, it has been nothing but one disappointment after another. Garner took FOREVER to finally install the furnace and air conditioner. After I called them about three times I had to get my, more assertive, parents to call them to pressure them into putting the system in. We first contacted them in September and it took them until December when temperatures started to drop to freezing and I was worried about my pipes freezing and bursting (which luckily they never did) for them to finally put it in. On top of that Garner kept communicating things to the builder working on the house that was never communicated to me directly? I would hear from the builder that Garner said they would install it on a certain date and it just never happened. This caused the builder to have to wait to install drywall which set back the entire project. And then on top of that I could never actually get a hold of a technician or Garner himself, only an office staff with limited information, which is uncommon when most people providing the service carries a cellphone on them. Then, roll around to Summer when we turn our air conditioner on and .... it doesn't work! We called a technician from Garner out who told me that they do not hook up the air conditioner to the electric box and I would need to call an electrician to do it. This was the first time I ever got this information. We called an electrician who said it would be a minimum of $400 to hook it up. So long for air conditioning this summer. I truly hope Garner reads these reviews and tries to do better because I am left so disappointed. If that's not a reality than I would recommend to never do business with this company. read more
