Do not be put off my the exterior (Casa Ole is above a chippy called Sammies) this place is gorgeous! We had booked a table of 9 for my birthday feast and it was nice that the table was ready for us as soon as we arrived, there was only a few other people inside but it was a rainy Wednesday night. The waitress took our coats which was nice too! Once the rest of our party had arrived we ordered some drinks and had a chat about what we fancied ordering - the good thing about a big party was the fact we had loads to try! We were served by a gentleman for most of the evening who I think was the owner and he could not have been any nicer, very chatty, knowledgeable, helped us in anyway he could and he checked back often to make sure everything was perfect. Our tapas dishes arrived a short while later to a chorus of oo's , aah's and what is that?!'s and we were not disappointed everything I tried was delicious but my favourites where the Chirizo, Gambas Gabardinas, morcilla and pinchos de atun. We were even given some olives (which the owners mother marinates for the restaurant), bread and oil to nibble on. After all this we were more then full but a brave few tackled a Desert of creme Catalan (which is sort of like creme brûlée) which was brought out with the sugar on top and the the sugar was caramelised with a little blow torch infront of us by our super server. As it was my birthday my parents had brought a surprise cake which was brought out after desert and I was serenaded in Spanish! Our waiter kindly offered to cut the cake and when I was brought back out with lovely slices on a saucer with whipped cream, raspberry sauce and sprinkled with icing sugar, how lovely was that?! After our food festival we were offered sla liquor on the house which I think was called estrella (like the beer!) and it was lovely, I got a double shot as I was the birthday princess! When we went to leave the server stood and chatted to us as we all showered him/the restaurant/the chef with praise. He was very modest and thankful. Im sure you have gathered by now that I am head over heels for Casa Ole! This place is truly special and I think everyone should try it! It's only £10 for 3 tapas and a desert or coffee on pre theatre or you can book on 5pm for the same deal!! Love, love, love... Love, love!

All the traditional tapas are here and all very, very good. If I were to single one out I would have to recommend the Morcilla (Spanish black pudding) which was totally amazing! Greeted by the sound of flamenco guitar as you enter, your senses are transported to a cosy cantina off the traditional tourist beat on the Iberian peninsular. Casa Ole simply oozes Spanish ambiance. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable about the food and went the extra mile in making sure we had everything we wanted, exceptional good service. As part of a large group there was good opportunity to sample a wide variety of the dishes on offer and none of them fell short of the mark. A great evening and delicious food, all in all highly recommended. There are offers on the website for both lunchtime and evening dining so its very good value as well at just under £10 for 3 tapas and desert or coffee.

I'd wanted to visit here for ages and had never made it - even though I'm a south sider, I don't end up in this part of Glasgow very often. I'd heard good things though, so made a booking for a Monday night and arrived excited. I was seated at a table I couldn't quite get into - the restaurant is large, but the tables are pretty close together so it's a little squishy. I can't imagine what it's like on a busy night! We went for the lazy option when ordering, the Chef's Recommendation (£26.95 for two people): salad, patatas bravas, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed chicken, lamb in white wine sauce, chicken croquettes, battered prawns and meatballs. The food arrived pretty much all at once which was great initially but it did mean some of the dishes were cold by the time we got to them! I didn't have a huge appetite and we didn't manage to finish it all so I'd definitely say it was good value for money! Stand out dishes for me was the battered prawns (although it was served with sweet chilli dip, sad times) and I also really liked the croquettes even though they were a little stodgy. I was happy with the food but my Madrid memories from the previous week were perhaps too strong of an influence as I wasn't really wowed by anything we had . The service was really warm and friendly and I felt like we were really well looked after. All up the meal was about £30 including a wine and couple of soft drinks which I think is pretty good value seeing as we couldn't even finish it all!

This was a wee night out to the lovely city of Stirling on an UYE visit to this fabulous restaurant…read morechosen and kindly organised by fellow Yelper Nicola C. She did a cracking job and it was a great introduction for a meal out in Stirling. I'm not a biggest fan of Mediterranean food but I do enjoy certain aspects to it and I'm always up for trying different flavours and foods. There was seven of us in total and I was unsure what to go for so an excellent mutual decision was made to go for the Chef's Selection for £14.95 each, which allowed you to try lots of options from their menu. This was a brilliant idea so if there was something I wasn't too keen on there was someone else happy to munch in, so nothing went to waste. There was so many courses, I forgot how many there was that it felt like a never ending amount of food came to our table. It was awesome! My favourite was the wee cheeky side order I had of halloumi but make sure you get the lutza halloumi as it comes with pork medallions. Yum! The chorizo was the best I've ever tasted, I'm not the greatest fan but the way it was cooked made it really tasty. We had falafel, chicken wings, lamb kofte, olives, hummus, lots of pita bread, Greek gyros and baba ghanoush. By the last course though I had to force myself, I think I may have had too many helpings of pita and hummus. Ooops! But is tasted so goooood. It's an alternative meal out with good quality food and the staff are lovely. We did have a few waits in between courses but then it's a popular restaurant but with good company and banter it didn't seem so bad. Thanks again to Nicola C. and look forward to the next Stirling UYE. Nudge nudge, wink wink! Hehe!

Let's start from the beggining, the restaurant deco is similar to my favourite restaurants in Madrid, modern, a little dark at night and full of typical products (cheese, wine, garlic, ham's leg). We were invited to wait at the bar to wait for a better table , and a super nice Spanish guy gave us recommendations about the wine and the ham. Just 5 minutes later we had our table ready. We ordered a verdejo wine, d.o rueda, a porron pot. As starter we ordered the Presa de lomo iberico and bread with olive oil. All of them was amaZing, the wine was perfect and the lomo was super tasty!! After that we ordered the tapas, difficult choice! The selection was: black rice with alioli, aubergine with honey, chorizo lolipops with alioli and ham croquetas. I can't say which one was the best, absolutely incredible, but the croquetas was same as the best in Spain!! Even the rice... To be honest it was like beign in Spain! Furthermore the Staff invited us to try the 3 hams selections and cheese with mojama. No words!! After that for sure it was dessert time: tarta de la abuela (chocolate, crumble...) another 5* The staff and service was excellent as well. To be honest, and not because I'm Spanish is the best restaurant I've tried in Glasgow! And the price was only £52 !!!! I want to go every single month!!!!!!!!

It wasn't until I read the reviews on Yelp that I realised what I'd been missing, so we booked a table and made a special trip down there for lunch today. First impressions - we were the only people there and the chef came out of the kitchen to meet us, which didn't bode well I thought. The decor is unassuming and definitely a 'work in progress', but it is clear that they have already put a great deal of effort into getting the place functioning. The bar is near the entrance and there's a line of tables along the window wall, with a larger central area that looks like it could double as a dance floor, and finally there's a stage area at the far end. It all looks delightfully 'hand-knitted' and I loved it immediately. Once the owner returned from upstairs and realised that we were his booking, things picked up. In short order some music was played, menus appeared, and soon we were tucking in to the first of our tapas. As neither of us are carnivores, we picked fishy choices, olives, tortilla, and some papas arrugadas. The boquerones (anchovies) and olives were the first to arrive, and we both wolfed them down like the ravenous dogs we were. Delicious. Then came the tortilla and papas arrugadas. The tortilla is definitely something special, and I wished I'd ordered two portions, it was so tasty. The papas arrugadas turned out to be baby new potatoes with a separate dish of pepper sauce and another of coriander sauce. A fantastic combination of tastes, and the pepper sauce was just right - not too hot at all. Finally, the boquerones frito (whitebait) and the calamares a la romana appeared. The menu jokingly describes the whitebait as 'fishchips', but actually that's a great description of them. They're crispy and full of flavour - yum! I'm not generally a great fan of tapas as a primary meal choice, as I always feel that they're more of an appetizer option whilst sitting at the bar with a drink; but I might be won over by this place. The portions aren't huge, but with the 3 for £9 special offer, it's pretty good value. I will definitely return when the place is a bit more lively and they have some entertainment on. They may not be in a prime location, but it's definitely worth making the pilgrimage to this place. But let's not tell everyone about it - we don't want it to become too popular. Let's just keep it between ourselves, OK?

I've been back quite a few times since my first review, but this place is slipping, to put it simply. When I was last here for dinner, it was ok, but not fantastically good as I had previously experienced. However, it was good enough to keep Tinto as a 3-star and not 2, which is what my most recent experience would definitely be rated as. Went for breakfast with some of my extended family (7 of us) on a Sunday morning and it was just so disappointing. While I appreciate we were a relatively large table, the rest of the place was *empty* so I wouldn't have expected this would be too much to cope with. However, when our dishes came out mostly a variety of cold and burnt, it put a right dampener on our gathering. I had been looking forward to ordering churros after my Croque Senor (this came out a bit burnt, and presented itself as merely a grilled sandwich slapped on a plate, not even cut through or anything...) but in all honestly, I was frightened to in case it ruined my previous love of Tinto churros. Our server was great and they did take the two worst plates off our bill which was nice of them, but everything just felt as if not very much care or effort had been put in at all. This place could be an excellent hub of activity on a usual dead Sunday morning in Uddy, it has so much potential but on this occasion, seriously failed to deliver.
