My daughter started in Kindergarten and just finished 8th grade on permit. My reason for…read moremaintaining her there included the community/families that comprised of the school and high expectations the school sets on the students. Like other reviewers have mentioned, not all teachers are great (there have been a few that are terrible!) but there are also some of the best teachers who are superb role models and wonderful educators. Since week one of Kindergarten, there had always been an excessive amount of hw given each year except for 1st grade. Part of the success and high test scores of the students, I feel, is from the hw that is given. But sadly, a large portion of family life is sacrificed because of it. Def can be too much stress on the student and parents. Nonetheless, my daughters growth and work ethic has developed to a high level because of Brightwood. She is well prepared for high school, and even college!! All in all, I feel she will continue to thrive because of this school.

As someone below average, it was very hard for me to understand the work, and never gotten the help i needed, the teachers picked favorites, and always gave too much homework, and the kids were just terrible there, they would pick on you for your appearance and the slightest mistakes you can make, you will get turned into a laughing stock if u say just one bad thing, and i got constantly picked on, with the amount of stress from work and the harassment, it drove me to exhaustion and I finally left.

Our two kids who are now 3 and 5 years old have attended Meher since they were 2 years old. Our…read morelove for the school was truly put to the test when the Altadena campus (and also our home) burned down in the Eaton fire earlier this year. We had a choice to make whether we wanted to continue on, meaning a much longer commute and many more hours each day away from our little ones so they could attend the other campus in Monterey park. We made the right decision to stay with Meher. The school went above an beyond to wrap around its impacted families during this crisis. When we were displaced we were even invited into a zoom class room so the kids could stay connected to their classmates. They did not fall behind, and had a loving environment to return to when we came home. We trust their approach to normal misbehavior and conflict between kids, and the kids trust that when they are there their needs are met. The structure is comforting for them and the lessons engaging. We love that the school has a loving and professional approach to child development. We feel there is a real investment in our kids learning how to do things on their own, which we have noticed contributes to their confidence and eagerness to discover and learn. The teaching staff is well versed and continuously learning how to be great teachers. It is not "childcare" it is truly school in a way that sets the kids up for confidence and success. We feel lucky to be part of this community and after looking at other options, are clear this is the right place for our little ones.

As a neighbor to Robert Hill Lane Elementary, I have serious concerns regarding administrative…read moreaccountability and student safety. The school allowed an unauthorized motorcycle academy to operate on campus for years - when I raised this issue with LAUSD regional director Carlos Montes, he attempted to defend the operation rather than address the issue. Since then, the school's maintenance staff has ignored repeated requests to tape the tetherball tether pole near my home to match the others. More critically, I have witnessed concerning playground supervision, including an isolated male teacher speaking aggressively to students and a special education staff member failing to send a student to the nurse after a direct head fall, until I personally called the office. The ongoing pattern and lax supervision reflects a deeply concerning lack of oversight.

MPCS has been a place where my youngest thrived. The school may be small, but it is mighty. This is…read moredue to the love and care that the long-time teachers and staff has poured onto many, many children throughout the decades. As an educator myself, you bet I vetted all the local daycares in the area and asked all the hard questions about curriculum, schedules, policies, safety, assessments, etc. MPCS welcomed any and all questions I had at the open house and throughout the school year. Their communication was open and transparent. I appreciated all the time the teachers and staff took to work with me when I had a question or gave a suggestion. They listened intently and did so with such care, grace and humility. My child looked forward to going to school daily and enjoyed all the activities the teachers planned in the classroom. As parents, we loved attending the school field trips, holiday programs and weekly chapel times. We appreciate the community MPCS has built for the families. It warms my heart to know that the friendships my kiddo made in class has transferred over to the TK environment, where there are 2 other MPCS graduates in the same class! MPCS is a true gem! They offer a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels loved and valued. The staff is dedicated and invested in the well-being and growth of each child, fostering both emotional, intellectual and spiritual development. It's a place where both parents and kids can feel confident and cared for every day.

MPCS will always, always hold a special place in our hearts. if you're considering preschools/daycares, i wholeheartedly recommend monterey park christian school. in all the choices i've made for my son's life as his mom, this is one where i have absolutely zero regrets.
