Meher Montessori Schools - Pizza lunch for the kids

Meher Montessori Schools

Our…read morelove for the school was truly put to the test when the Altadena campus (and also our home) burned down in the Eaton fire earlier this year. We had a choice to make whether we wanted to continue on, meaning a much longer commute and many more hours each day away from our little ones so they could attend the other campus in Monterey park. We made the right decision to stay with Meher. The school went above an beyond to wrap around its impacted families during this crisis. When we were displaced we were even invited into a zoom class room so the kids could stay connected to their classmates. They did not fall behind, and had a loving environment to return to when we came home. We trust their approach to normal misbehavior and conflict between kids, and the kids trust that when they are there their needs are met. The structure is comforting for them and the lessons engaging. We love that the school has a loving and professional approach to child development. We feel there is a real investment in our kids learning how to do things on their own, which we have noticed contributes to their confidence and eagerness to discover and learn. The teaching staff is well versed and continuously learning how to be great teachers. It is not "childcare" it is truly school in a way that sets the kids up for confidence and success. We feel lucky to be part of this community and after looking at other options, are clear this is the right place for our little ones.

The teacher I have right now is one of the best teachers I've had. This school has a very big upstairs area including a very big grass field, volleyball area, playground, handball, and basketball court. I kind of wish that there was an actual net for the volleyball court, but overall it's pretty big. I personally think that not all the restrooms are clean especially the one's without mirrors. This school goes from TK-8 so your children don't have to transition to different schools. I also recommend this school to people. I loved this school growing up though and it's pretty easy to make friends here.

My reason for…read moremaintaining her there included the community/families that comprised of the school and high expectations the school sets on the students. Like other reviewers have mentioned, not all teachers are great (there have been a few that are terrible!) but there are also some of the best teachers who are superb role models and wonderful educators. Since week one of Kindergarten, there had always been an excessive amount of hw given each year except for 1st grade. Part of the success and high test scores of the students, I feel, is from the hw that is given. But sadly, a large portion of family life is sacrificed because of it. Def can be too much stress on the student and parents. Nonetheless, my daughters growth and work ethic has developed to a high level because of Brightwood. She is well prepared for high school, and even college!! All in all, I feel she will continue to thrive because of this school.

Now I am looking into kindergarten in public schools, and I feel my children are not only well prepared academically, but also with social settings and with a foundation in faith. I have loved all the teachers and support staff that have helped nurture my children and will be forever grateful to MPCS for starting my children off in their school path. They communicate school events well via a board when you sign in and also via digital platforms, and keep parents in the know of any issues. The facility is clean and safe.

As an educator myself, you bet I vetted all the local daycares in the area and asked all the hard questions about curriculum, schedules, policies, safety, assessments, etc. MPCS welcomed any and all questions I had at the open house and throughout the school year. Their communication was open and transparent. I appreciated all the time the teachers and staff took to work with me when I had a question or gave a suggestion. They listened intently and did so with such care, grace and humility. My child looked forward to going to school daily and enjoyed all the activities the teachers planned in the classroom. As parents, we loved attending the school field trips, holiday programs and weekly chapel times. We appreciate the community MPCS has built for the families. It warms my heart to know that the friendships my kiddo made in class has transferred over to the TK environment, where there are 2 other MPCS graduates in the same class! MPCS is a true gem! They offer a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels loved and valued. The staff is dedicated and invested in the well-being and growth of each child, fostering both emotional, intellectual and spiritual development. It's a place where both parents and kids can feel confident and cared for every day.

She said that their profession should be respected. Am I not respecting their profession? And she also said that employees went to work without being vaccinated. There is no way. You are adults, why don't you get vaccinated. It's so sensible. The school my friend's child goes to is not like this. I think this nurse is studying Chinese medicine. No common sense at all. I was really angry that day. And none of the principal fart he did.

Negatives...well, heres a personal story, my nephew was supposed to start 2nd grade here. He had attended Kinder and 1st at MHES. He attends with a permit. My sister is a faculty member (who just had twins) and was last min. in applying for permit. Got a release from San Gabriel School Dist. (in time) and because they didn't believe that she got it done (due to SGSD error) in time they LIED about there being openings available. I guess as punishment to her they denied her request. Meanwhile my nephew was in limbo missing valuable school days. To cut to the chase (too long already) my sister is still waiting for response from new principal. Who suffered here??
