I am so happy my son goes to Holy Trinity School. There was never a question in my mind that this is where he would attend. When I looked into other schools, none of them felt like home the way Holy Trinity did. My husband and many of his friends also attended HTS and received an incredible education, so it means a lot to our family that our son now gets to have that same positive experience. This school truly stands out for its supportive and welcoming environment. From the moment you walk through the doors, you can feel the warmth and positivity created by both the staff and the students. This place has been a game-changer for my family. The staff and faculty are nice as they come, and the best part is they still use pencil and paper for homework assignments (with Ipads optional), and require reading from a book every school night (each kid's choice of which one). We had tried public and private schools previously, and this is by far the best school experience we have had so far. We are not members of the parish, but from day one have felt exceptionally welcome by teachers, the office, and parents. Whether you are Catholic parents or not, the school offers the perfect balance for children between academic and religious studies. And if your child has ADHD, in our experience, the teachers have been exceptionally supportive of helping our child advance in a way that fits him best while still maintaining a studious environment for everyone. HTS is doing very well academically... competing and winning(!!!) in academic decathlons, volleyball and swim meets... tuition here is a tad lower in comparison to other local private schools... but keep in mind catholic high schools now avg 20k/year the school now has 10 grade levels (tk-8); The teachers we have at HTS are outstanding, dedicated and loving individuals with masters degrees who are prob underpaid in comparison to their lausd counterparts... every day they drive from far, sit in traffic, arrive early and leave late (school is open from 7a-6p w after school care as an option)... Ms Lloyd the principal runs a tight ship and their love and dedication is palpable! Our kindergarteners are reading chapter books... my son was reciting multiplication/division before 1st grade... Our 6th graders are doing 9th grade high school math... they offer FREE afterschool Homework club for an hour mon-wed... Students and parents alike seemingly know one other by name and take care of each other as extended family... so yes! we have an awesome tight knit community... in fact we have many proud parent-alumni and even some 3rd generation families here... i went to school here in the 80s where i met my bffs and made many life long friends in diff grade levels (our graduating class of 36 students even has a grp txt going!) I def wanted the same magical experience for my own kids which is why we chose to send them here. read more

This is our First year attending Holy Trinity Catholic School. Let me say after my daughter shadowed for one day last year she was excited to move from her prior Catholic school and try some place new. The teachers and principal are so intelligent and creative how they teach the children. The don't just put them on an IPad all day. They hands on reach them. They also challenge them and I have seen such tremendous growth in our child's education. It's unbelievably wonderful to see my child to prefer reading an actual book rather than her iPad and utube. The kids are very school focused and treat the other children as they want to be treated with courtesy and kindness. We can't wait to finish her thru eighth grade and watch her blossom. Her prior school was much more money and did challenge her to excel academically. I'd say if your child is in a school that may or not be the right fit maybe let them shadow a day here and see if they like it. January 22, 2024 Best elementary and middle school !!! I transferred my daughter from Ivanhoe elementary school 3,5 year ago , best decision we made . Small classes and supper educated teachers helped her to get grades what she really deserves . Strict and same time very supportive teachers having a very friendly bond with students. Holy Trinity in Atwater is by far the best Catholic school in Northeast L.A. We transferred here from another Catholic school in Los Feliz after being there for 6 years, and there is absolutely NO comparison. As a parent, I did not think that there could possibly be such major differences between different elementary schools. I was so wrong. The leadership, administration, and faculty at Holy Trinity are amazing. They are caring, selfless, and dedicated to our children and their education. This is the exact opposite of what we were accustomed to at our old school. My child felt defeated and depressed before coming to Holy Trinity. He was never challenged or encouraged and therefore, he did not retain much of what he learned. There was no sense of caring and the methods of teaching were subpar, to say the least. I believed that this was the norm for all schools, so I really didn't give it much thought. But once again, I was completely wrong. The teachers at Holy Trinity are encouraging and caring. The principal is positive, organized, kind and always available when you need her. It is more than apparent that the students are her #1 priority. The children here are thoughtful and well-behaved. They are well-disciplined and not shamed. Again, this is not something that we were accustomed to. My son often tells me that he wishes he would have been here since Kindergarten...and so do we. Regardless of when we found Holy Trinity, we are just happy to have found it. It has been such a positive change for us as family in so many ways. We couldn't ask for anything more. read more

First, I would like to emphasize that everyone's experiences are different. The topic of Bullies are a big concern but this school seems to have it under control now compared to maybe past years. I grew up in Atwater Village my whole childhood and my mother still lives across the street so this school was and is convenient. I was a former student/graduate at Holy Trinity and now am proud to say that I am continuing the legacy/tradition by sending my precious daughter here. I attend Holy Trinity school from 1st grade till 8th grade (exception of 2nd-3rd). I Remember when we had nuns teaching the classes and Mrs. Alice Martinez was our P.E. Coach. Now, She is the principal of the Academy and Prep. I am truly confident that her educational development will be on point and exceed our expectations! After all they molded me into the person I am today. My family is so excited for what this new year will bring and can't wait till my little guy gets to attend. About the school: Parking is easy. They offer a nice drop off -pick-up system (so convenient). Campus is the perfect size indoors and outdoors (every child is visible) Classroom ratios are the best.(Plenty one on one) Classrooms are comfortable and restrooms are clean (my pet peeve) Lunch is cooked like a home meal.(Healthy) Cafeteria is large and clean. About summer camp: $350 for academic and and it's was for the whole month of July. 8am-12 $350 for Summer fun from 12-5pm.Trips included: Arts & crafts, Movies, museums, library, shows, water slides, trips to Jamba juice, Ice cream, theaters, pool, park. This school made me stop believing in God! I attended 7th and 8th grade here because my overbearing Catholic parents believed that if I attended a public middle school I would turn into a pregnant chola before graduating. There is one class of each grade (1st - 8th). So you have the same classmates /bullies following you each year that you're there. Either you're Catholic or not, they will heavily impose the religion on you because if you're not Catholic, to them, you've bought your one way ticket to hell! Education is 90% religious studies, and 10% bullshit that these incompetent teachers pull out of their asses. Seriously! My 7th grade teacher was fresh out of college (which I doubt she even made it to college) and didn't teach shit. She was too busy "trying to fit in with the "cool" girls". In 7th grade we were being taught long division which is crap I already learned in my "inferior" 4th grade public school education! Halloween is the celebration of the devil, so, don't think your kids will be allowed to dress up. There's no cafeteria there so you'll have to pack lunches for your kids. Pack them 2 lunches, one for your kids and one for the bully that will beat up your kid everyday for it. Bullying was rampant when I was a student. Whenever someone would complain to the staff/teachers, their advice, "Jesus says to turn the other cheek!" Not only do they expect tuition from parents, but donations (not including your church donations), and volunteer time, which entails them to do something to earn more money for the school. So, if you're still thinking about sending your children to this school, then you must not love them. read more

I love this school. All of my three kids grew up in this school. The kids get a well-rounded education from HTS. Academic, competitive sports, drama, etc. the faculty works hard to take care of the children and act as second parents... parents away from home. I knew it was a great move that I transferred my eldest daughter here. She has improved a lot in terms of reading and spelling. My 2nd daughter has started her TK here and she very much likes it and also has learned a lot. All the staff are nice and very helpful. My 2 sons have been enrolled in Holy Trinity since transitional-kindergarten. We are very, very happy with this school. The principal and all the teachers are a special group of educators who work very hard and genuinely care for our kids. All the teachers know my sons. The principal is always communicating with regular emails so we are always up to date of what is going on with their programs. She is so approachable and friendly. Their talent shows, holiday programs, carnivals are so much fun. All the educational resources they have are awesome. I can't say enough good things about all the teachers who have taught my sons. Holy Trinity is a warm, welcoming little Catholic school with an outstanding parent community. Parents are eager to help each other and assist ALL children whenever possible. There is a real sense of community and trust among the parents which is one of the main reasons my daughter has been attending for three years now. The principal and teachers along with the church pastor are friendly, and always accommodating to parents needs and concerns. The principal further communicates with families frequently and adequately. Teachers and staff are always willing to assist parents with questions or concerns. The Catholic celebrations are numerous and they instill in my child the strong faith I instill for her at home. If you have a little one (3-4 year old) definitely think about considering enrolling him/her beginning in their TK program. It is a great starting foundation for what they will be learning in Kindergarten and beyond. We had many choices in selecting a preschool...even an elementary school, but when we decided to send our daughter here in TK, it was one of the best decisions we ever made. She is in second grade now and continues to love it! Teachers (and all faculty) are great. Ms. Lloyd, our principal, is AWESOME and so dedicated. Fr. Ricky, our pastor, is amazing. You should check out one of his masses/homilies. A catholic education is priceless - they are truly "Forming saints and scholars." But even if you are not catholic - all denominations are welcome. My daughter has several classmates who are not catholic and their families love the school. It is hard to put into words what type of community Holy Trinity School is. We are unique. We are not a huge school...but we are a great school. We truly are a family and I hope my daughter has the same experience I had when I was in school. I am still in touch regularly with my elementary school friends that I met at St. Casimir (almost 39 years of friendship!) My younger brother is an alum of HTS and several family members previously worked here as well. Holy Trinity has come a VERY LONG way from when we were students here. Most of the reason why this school is at its optimum level is because of the current principal- Miss. Karen Lloyd and Pastor Ricky. The support of our principal has most students performing above average or excelling in their grade level, with the strong foundation of the Roman Catholic faith. Once upon a time, I went to school here for 1st - 5th grade. I don't really remember much about the academics, but I remember a classmate in 2nd grade pooping his pants and me being a milk monitor for almost all five years. It's been a long time since I went to school there, but the actual campus has improved in regards to upgrading technology and basic amenities. The academics were good enough. My two daughters have been going to this school for the past two years and I cannot imagine transferring them out. It is such an awesome school! First off, this small school feels like a tight-knit community, much like a family. Here, OTHER parents care about YOUR child. That's a special feeling that you don't get in other schools. They have a fantastic principal, Ms. Lloyd. She is so dedicated to the students, the staff and to the church. And the staff and the teachers are all great! They have no problems answering your questions or concerns whether it's early in the morning or after a long day at school. And the tuition is pretty reasonable compared to other private schools. I only wish I had my eldest daughter start in their TK (Transitional Kindergarten, aka Pre-school/Pre-K) class at Holy Trinity. Instead, she started in 1st grade and I found that she had some difficulty adjusting to the curriculum and work given compared to other students that started here in TK. She is now in 2nd grade and has now adjusted, is doing very well and is even on the Honor Roll! My youngest started in TK has excelled beyond my expectations. By the time the school year was over, she knew how to read (not just easy three-letter words, but also sight words, like: have, before, with, because, etc.), write paragraphs, analyze and give synopses on the different stories she read. She is now in Kindergarten and can read at a 2nd grade level. Plus, she LOVES to learn. If you care about giving your child a great education with a good religious background, I would highly recommend sending them to Holy Trinity. It's one of the best decisions we ever made. read more

New principal, new beginnings .... My son's been here since Kindergarten and he loves it! Ms. Lloyd and Fr. Ricardo makes a great team! Ms. Lloyd, the principal, works tirelessly to better improve the school. She keeps us updated with what's going on in the school. I have never seen a principal who has such passion! Catholic education is an investment of a lifetime! Rest assured that your child would get high quality education since classroom size is small. Teachers are great! Parents are awesome and the students are well behaved! I am going to enroll my daughter this coming school year and she would love it! It is going to be easier for us because we have to go to one campus. They combined the Academy and Prep in one campus a few weeks ago. The principal is easily accessible. She would respond to your email as soon as she gets it! Even at night time or weekends! (Who does that?) I guess it's her dedication, passion and love for the school!!! I had four children at Holy Trinity my eldest graduated last year. My children who are still in lower grade levels couldn't be any happier. My wife and I couldn't be anymore happier with their current teachers. The staff and teachers are so welcoming! All students and staff are treated with respect and dignity. Let me first start off by saying that I went to public school my whole life. My 4 year old had never been in daycare or school ever until he came to Holy Trinity. He was diagnosed with a speech delay a few years back. Before coming to Holy Trinity, we struggled to get our son to pick up a book, write, or even attempt to learn with flash cards. We put him in summer school this past summer to introduce him to school and he loved it. This school is great. The principal Ms Lloyd and the office manager Mrs Torres work so hard to ensure that your child and family receive the best care possible. Going back to my son's first school experience during summer, Ms Barraza and Ms Nelson broke him out of his shell. He now speaks, loves to read books, and has learned so much. We decided that Holy Trinity was the appropriate school for our son. They encourage parent involvement and there are many events, but they are all fun and inspirational. Then you see the principal Ms Lloyd working so hard along with the teachers and they inspire you to do more and more for your child. I never thought my child would attend Catholic school, but I'm happy we picked up the brochure last year at their Fall Festival. I attended Holy Trinity School (before it was called 'Holy Trinity Prep') and graduated in 2010. The school itself was great, the teachers are great, and the education is profound. The environment of the school is good, there is no cafeteria, but there is a nicely sized canteen where all the students go to during lunch and break. There is also a huge basketball court / break area. The school itself is small. Onto the teachers and the education. I really liked all my teachers at that school, unfortunately some of them aren't there anymore, but overall I'm highly positive that they were replaced by other great teachers. The education was great and I learned a lot there. I was, unfortunately, notoriously known at that school by the teachers for sometimes having a bad attitude and that I dozed off in class about 50% of the time, but the teachers never gave up on me and helped me a lot. Of course there is favoritism (sorry to say that if the teachers are reading this but admit it, i'm right) so if you do something wrong and get in trouble for it, and one of the teachers favorites does the same thing and DOES NOT get in trouble for it, don't be surprised, just a little tip ;) The principal is good, she used to be the PE coach, then a history teacher I believe, but she's not exactly the most well liked principal for some reason. I think she does an incomparable job as a principal to be honest. There is church every Fridays. Most of the students (the "rebellious" ones) believe that it's just annoying and that the school is just trying to fill them with too much Catholicism. read more
