Not a good choice for high end vehicles. Based on the reviews and a personal recommendation we decided to trust Gardena Bear with service for our business's several hundred thousand dollar vehicle. Ruben told us we had to drop the car off and leave. We explained that we were not allowed to do that and could wait. We were the first and only ones there. This seemed to really bother him - he spontaneously started arguing that he wouldn't "steal our technology" then told us we might have to wait half a day, went inside and started watching TV and eating a donut. We were the first and only ones there so we waited a bit and then my colleague went in to ask what the estimated time might be. Ruben again launched into a defensive argument about not trusting him with our vehicle. We hadn't said anything about not trusting him - we brought the car there. It was clear he wasn't going to help us unless we left him alone with the car and all the unsolicited arguing about why we shouldn't not trust him had the opposite effect. It's really great when you find a mechanic or auto repair shop you can really trust!  This is exactly what I found when I visited Gardena Bear yesterday - to have some brake work done on my Corolla. I had taken my car in for brakes about a year ago to a cheap place in Torrance.  The place I visited charged me a boat load for brakes and new rotors claiming my new car's rotors could not be machined - hmmm. So, after getting frustrated at the constant squeeking, I finally visited Gardena Bear. Right from the start, their customer service, clear communication and speed were great.   After dropping the car off, I received a call in about an hour - telling me the brake pads I had (from the crummy place) were still perfectly good - they were just squeaky and probably of disappointing quality.  The technician told me he couldn't - in good conscience - recommend new brakes for me (as there was no safety or wear issues; plenty of pad left)...unless I simply wanted to solve for the noise problem (which I did). So, I decided to have the front brakes done and an oil change...and everything looks and sounds (absence of sound) great. In the end, how refreshing is it to go to a mechanic, have them honestly diagnose your car...not upsell or oversell you...and fix the car - right, the first time!  It was a very fair price combined with really quality service.  I can't recommend them enough!!!! read more

I was calling around for a place for servicing the brakes on my Civic. After getting some really high quotes, I called Stan at Gardena Bear who invited me in for a free brake inspection.  I showed up about an hour before closing and was able to get right in. The staff was all friendly and answered my questions thoroughly.  I learned about the brand of pads they use and the options as far as cost vs. quality. I decided to give them the go ahead, thinking I would have to bring it back tomorrow, but they were willing to stay and get it done. As I was waiting for it, they kept me informed about what they were finding. Several of the rotors were warped, as I suspected, so I was expecting bad news and increased cost, but they were able to machine the rotors one last time. I had front and rear brakes and fluid flush done for a very reasonable cost and done quickly and efficiently.  This morning I received a phone call asking me if everything was working as expected and thanking me for my business.   All in all, very satisfied with this business. read more

Wow!  It's hard to find honest, solid customer service at a lot of places these days, especially at auto mechanics.  Gardena Bear Wheel Alignment is an exception to this. I had an issue with damage to my vehicle from a AAA tow guy improperly using a jack on my car (grrr).  Stan really went above and beyond to help me get my issue resolved and didn't try to get me to pay for things I didn't need. He even printed out a diagram of the affected pieces to help try to get some relief from the company that damaged my vehicle. The price was great, the service was excellent, the waiting time wasn't bad (faster than I expected) and they really took the time to go through various options with me. They were even friendly and enjoyable to converse with!  WOW! I will DEFINITELY be coming back next time something arises. read more

I decided to give this location a try on the word from a friend. From the moment I arrived Ruben asked me what was i experiencing. I told him I just got new tires and I feel it pull to the right. He immediately pulled my truck in gave it a look measured with a tire device and told me I needed just an alignment and that my suspension was good. Nice guy who I could tell was good at what he does and like his work. Their method of alignment is the old school way as opposed to today's modern way of doing the alignment. GREAT PLACE!!!!!!! very honest just make sure to ask for Ruben. went in because my brakes were feeling funny.so i dropped it off and in about an hr ruben called me to tell me to tell me one of my pads was cracked and i was missing a bolt. so i gave them the go ahead to fix it. so when i showed up to pick up my truck Ruben showed me the brake pad that was cracked. that impressed me the most seeing how other guys would just say they did somthing and well you guys know. so now im a customer as long as Ruben works there. read more

I've had a lot of cars over the last 40 years and have done a lot of repairs myself. I had a squeak from the engine compartment. I spent a lot of time starting, stopping, pushing, pulling, rocking and was 99% sure I found the problem. I took it to Bear and Ruben checked it out. He said it was the lower control arm bushings. They quote you one price, call you and tell you more work needs to be done and give you a higher price and before you can call back with the authorization to do the work, they tell you the work is already done and you have to pay the higher price!!
