The technician claimed the scratch was already there, but I know it wasn't--my vehicle had just been inspected at another tire shop and the rim was in perfect condition. I chose this shop because they appeared professional, but that was far from my experience. They refused to take accountability for the damage and would not offer to cover the repair. When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was told there was no way their employees caused it. Fast, efficient, affordable. My two front tires were worn down with 1 going fully flat requiring I put on the spare. I called ahead to see if they had any used tires in the size I need and the cost difference between used vs new. Was in the area when my tire pressure light came on in the rain. Drove past a couple of tire shops that were closed due this virus situation. Finally, I saw that South Bay Tires was open. Pulled in and was greeted by staff, who I advised of my problem. He checked all of my tires to see if there were any damages. When the check was completed, it was discovered I only needed some air. There was a young man working here, honestly very rare to find a guy so well nowadays. Came here 4/13/23 at around 12:30 with a tire that was flat and had a nail. I pull in today for service, and they have some 12 year old on the crew who they let attempt to service the car. He can't even remove the lug nut cover properly and completely scrapes the cover with a flathead screwdriver. The stupid ass owner/manager tells me I have an older car so cares about the damage! Hello all, BEWARE. As a long time Hawthorne resident, I've been going to south bay tires for years (emergencies only) until recently i took my new car so they can swap out old wheels for my new ones. I informed the tire guys that the rims are brand new and if they can please be careful (i wasn't rude about it). i noticed they were having a little trouble with getting the tire on. all of a sudden i see 3 guys trying to get the tire on with complete disregard for what i said. after the installation was complete i inspected the rims and guess what, they scuffed them. i told the supervisor and he looked at me like if i was crazy. i told him that i informed his tire guy the the rims were brand new and to be careful. he gave me the owners contact info. After talking and showing the scuff mark to the owner, he wouldn't even give me a refund. he said and i quote " its normal for the wheels to get scratched". i was speechless at what he said. i told him that how can that be normal, then whats the point? These rims were not some cheapo brand, they are BBS gold wheels and i have a Subaru STI. If you really care about your wheels i do not recommend this place AT ALL. Only if it's an emergency flat and you're around the shop. read more

Cross threaded my lug nuts into my lug bolts and actually SAW the guy do it and asked him to fix it and the guy argued with me saying that I was lying even after I showed him. 2 of the lug studs broke when I took the lugs off and they refused to fix it. Ended up taking it somewhere else because After arguing with him I wouldn't want them touching my truck. I wish I read these reviews before taking my truck there. SOUTH BAY TIRES ARE LIARS and WILL RIP YOU OFF! I was quoted one price and then after tires were taken off my car and off rims, quoted another price. South Bay Tires knows that you need new tire valve stems when you put on new tires but won't tell you that they charge additional for tire valve stems until after they have all the tires off your car. YOU CAN GO RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO T&J Tires and they will quote you correct, honest price and tire valve stems ARE INCLUDED with quoted price as they are at HONEST tire shops or at least correct price is given before tires are taken off your car. DO NOT GO TO SOUTH BAY TIRES! There are several other tires shops you can go to next door or within a block or two. Also, I have left at least ten messagesfor teh owner, the owner will NEVER call you back and the workers will not tell you how to get in touch with the owner. I was told by the manager that he could not refund my money because he already charged my card. Then the manager told the Automotive Bureau Representative that he would refund my money but only the owner can do that. The manager would not give the Automotive Bureau Rep any information on how to contact the owner. read more
