Coming into the hotel the lobby is nice, there's a nice size seating area and a little area to pick up last minute snacks/ items you might have forgotten. The gal that helped me during the morning was quick and attentive, she told us the elevator was slow and kind of chuckled.. thought it was odd but shrugged it off.. going to the elevator I will say it's not slow.. it's sketchy. The doors to it were already open yet I didn't see anyone coming out, we got on and it took fifty years for the doors to shut.. then a loud buzzing went off before we went up to the third floor. Walking to the room you smell about fifty different smells which is fine, multiple people cooking multiple things throughout the halls. Getting into the room the first thing I noticed was the musty smell of the room. It turned me off but the overall look of the room itself was nice and modern. The bathroom is spacious. The tub itself didn't seem to be wiped down thoroughly which I cleaned before bathing my child.. the rag came out kind of dirty which was gross. Another thing that was unpleasant was the bed sheets are white.. yet there were visible stains on the sheets, comforter and pillows.. not only that but later on I was told that the hotel is known for bed bugs... great. The breakfast was actually extremely satisfying. They had cinnamon rolls which was a big hit for my little one, pancakes, bacon and eggs, a big variety of things. I would say overall the stay was good. Clean wise it's mediocre which I wasn't expecting for an holiday inn.

Jessica greeted us in the parking lot outside and showed us inside and gave us the grand tour. Our room was the largest one- with the biggest bathroom too and just inside the front door. Perfect for us! Across from our room was the sitting room where her father (who was visiting) was working on a puzzle. The father greeted us warmly and said we could help with the puzzle if we would like. Noted*, there was a small hall way with stairs going up to the other rooms, and half bath & into the dining sun room. This is where breakfasts would be, coffee, tea and snacks were available whenever you wanted and the house was simply charming. There was a formal dining room too- I loved the antiques and historic quality in the decor. Jessica and her husband bought the Duck Smith House a couple years ago and they were both very generous with any help and information. I did partake in the puzzle and helped finish it. The breakfasts were simply delightful! Our first morning, she made apple sourdough pancakes that were an inch thick (at least)! And the bacon!!! Day two was quiche- one of my favorites and day three was waffles with stewed apples. I overheard Jessica telling someone else that she tries to rotate between sweet and savory for breakfast. John and I also enjoyed all the kitties, the goats- I fed them some grapes! and I loved the pumpkin patch they had set up for the weekend! John even went out to Justin's model shop. I hope I get to stay here again, because I absolutely loved it!!!

Best Western Albemarle Inn - Exterior

**Quality Inn - Albemarle, NC (Hwy 24/27 Bypass)**…read more I needed a one-night stay for work, and among the hotels and motels in the area, this property had one of the higher ratings available. Despite the name, this is very much a traditional roadside motel: exterior-facing doors, separate buildings, no interior hallways. The positives first. There is plenty of parking, the parking lot is clean and well lit, and the exterior areas were maintained. Check-in was done at the front desk (no app-based check-in), and the staff member was polite and professional. My room overall was clean enough to function for a short stay, and the bed and linens were clean. That said, there were several **serious and egregious issues** that cannot be overlooked. My room was in a back building, set away from the office and surrounded by woods, which felt isolated. Once inside, it became clear that while surface-level cleaning had been done, **basic safety checks and deeper cleaning were missed entirely**. The most concerning issue: **the smoke detector was completely detached from the ceiling**, with the wires hanging out. When I later opened the top drawer of the chest under the TV, I found the smoke detector itself sitting inside the drawer--along with a pack of crackers and someone else's body spray. This clearly indicates the room was not properly inspected or cleaned after the previous guest and represents a serious safety failure. Other issues included: * **Visible growth inside the refrigerator**, particularly on the top shelf of the door * A **dirty, stained plastic tray** holding the ice bucket and cups * **Silly string residue hanging on the wall and door frame above the main entrance door** * A **large crack running all the way across the sink** * A **wide gap at the entrance door near the lock**, allowing cold air to blow directly into the room * Debris and trash behind doors and in corners, showing lack of thorough cleaning * Dated, worn bathroom fixtures and visible signs of past water damage in the ceiling The room layout itself was functional, with decent lighting at the sink and several power outlets and USB ports, but it looked like items had been removed over time and never replaced. Breakfast the next morning was very basic. There was a make-your-own waffle station, scrambled eggs sitting in an **uncovered** chafing dish that appeared dry, bread and bagels with a toaster, yogurt, some cereal options, and coffee from an automatic concentrate-based machine. It was minimal and nothing more than a basic continental offering. At checkout, the front desk employee was extremely friendly and asked about my stay. I specifically mentioned the smoke detector and some of the other major concerns. He apologized and explained that the property had **recently changed ownership** and that they are working to get things corrected. I appreciate the honesty and professionalism of the staff, and I do want to give new management the benefit of the doubt. However, safety issues like a disconnected smoke detector, sanitation issues like refrigerator growth, and obvious signs of poor room inspection should never reach a paying guest--regardless of ownership transition. This property **can work for a short, one-night stay**, especially given the clean parking lot, decent lighting, clean bed, and friendly staff. But there are clear and serious quality-control, maintenance, and safety issues that must be addressed. I'm including photos with this review to accurately show what I encountered and to document areas that need immediate attention.

And like another review said, the blankets do have some cigarette burns in the smoking rooms. With all that being said... We had fun staying there. It wasn't our choice, as our previous plans fell through and it was the only option in Mount Pleasant. But the positives outweighed the negatives. It was approximately $90-100 US a night, which is quite expensive for what it is, but then again driving to Concord/Charlotte isn't worth the money either. We were upgraded to a larger room due to them having rooms free. The room itself was pretty big with a lot of space including a private bathroom, a mini fridge, microwave, bedside charger for electronics, air-conditioner/heater, big screen TV with cable and free wifi. The owners seemed nice; the husband of the two went out of his way to recommend restaurants in the town, constantly ask if we were enjoying our stay and even open the door whenever I grabbed coffee in the morning. On our first night there the water heater happened to break down in our portion of the motel, and he apologised multiple times, offering us the use of the showers in the empty rooms if needed (the heater was fixed the same evening). We had also requested to adjust the daily cleaning schedule as we were exhausted from the trip, to which they happily obliged and only came around once we had said that we were ready to have the cleaners in the room. The motel is right next to the Hardee's which makes for a great cheap, greasy breakfast. And across the street is a 24 hour Circle K for beer, snacks and cigs if you need it. We knew what we were getting into when we rented the room. You're in a small town with one motel, it's not the Ritz Carlton, but it does everything that it should.

There's plenty of stores nearby such as Walmart, Costco, Sam's Club, gas stations and more! Location definitely gets a star! No one was at the front desk and there was a sign that they were helping out another guest but they just came out from the back. It took 5+ minutes to wait and get greeted and then another 5 minutes to check in. Breakfast was superb, probably one of the better buffet breakfasts! That alone gets another star. Rooms were okay, a good size but what they didn't show was that though there's a "kitchen" area, there's no plates, dishes, cups, only a half fridge and microwave. No pots, no nothing. Something to keep in mind if you're wanting a full kitchen. Noise level was very minimal. I barely heard any outside noise! No racing cars, no loud guests walking outside our room. That deserves another star! Beds were not but also not good. My back hurt after a few days and it was hard to stay asleep. Overall, it was an okay stay.
