The Courtyard by Marriott in Salisbury, NC, is located off I-85. But not close enough to hear any traffic noise. It was in a quiet area, with a seafood restaurant within walking distance and a gas station near the road. The front desk clerk was very friendly and even provided more dining options. I had dropped my phone earlier in the day, and the screen was smashed, so she let me use some scotch tape to try to keep my phone operational for the rest of my trip. I was given a room on the top floor and even provided extra towels in my profile request. Sorry, I didn't get very many photos here, but I was trying not to use my phone as much. The hotel is older, but it was clean and functional. The lobby was large and had a bistro that offered dinner and breakfast. I'd return again if I was in the area as it provided a good night of sleep and reliable wifi. read more

I checked into the Courtyard with my elderly parents to stay during the ice storm, as we were afraid of them becoming without power at home. The staff of the Courtyard went above and beyond to make guests as comfortable as possible during this weather event. Extra comforters were handed out, and as the ice rained down, baked goodies were placed in baskets on the bar for everyone. The employees did everything they could to make a difficult event an enjoyable stay. This had to have been particularly difficult with a skeleton staff. I am especially appreciative for the bistro employees who talked with dad for hours as he told stories. The breakfast was fantastic here too! It is worth it to book your room with the breakfast package. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel. They really put an effort into taking care of their guests! read more

Stayed here twice in back to back weeks. Experienced friendly staff and a renovated lobby and common areas, but the rooms are subpar. On both stays all of the desk and bedside power outlets are loose and in need of maintenance; chargers just fall out of the outlets. One of my two stays had a slightly better room than the other, but you can see in the photos, one of my rooms had terrible carpet in disrepair and damaged lampshades. One of my rooms also had an offsetting smell. Overall, the room quality simply falls short of what I've come to expect from Marriott. read more

Though they did not allow us to prior check-in and even after reaching, they took some time, but it was worth. We got a clean big room with nice view. Indoor Pool was really small or I am not sure if they have an outdoor one. The best part was their breakfast. Very clean & well run. Rooms were comfortable & tidy. We had a 2nd floor room facing the front & it wasn't too loud. Did need clothespins to clip the blackout curtains together. AC worked well. Housekeeping is by request, so if you need be sure to set that up. If you don't want housekeeping in your room the front desk has extra shampoo, conditioner & soap so you can just get what you need there. Pool is closed & the fitness center is by appointment so they can keep it from getting too crowded & keep everyone socially distanced. Breakfast is grab & go style. Choices like muffins, bagels, cereal, and yogurt. Some juice & hot coffee. They did have little fruit cups (like for a kid's lunch pail) but wish they had a bowl of fresh fruit (like bananas & apples) available. Plenty of parking on the sides of the building. And key access on the side entrance so you don't have to walk all the way around. read more

My mother and I stayed here for a Mother/Daughter weekend as it was centrally located and surrounded by plenty of restaurants and shops. The photos online make it appear much nicer, newer, and cleaner than it actually is. The room looked nice enough but was very dirty. We always bring sanitizing wipes and Lysol to clean our hotels and I'm glad we did because every surface needed to be cleaned. The sheets had blood in them. Yes, blood. There was hair in the bathroom from the previous guests. We had to request that they come and turn the room while we left for dinner. The walls and floors in the entire hotel are paper thin. We heard e v e r y t h i n g from the adjacent rooms, from their hushed conversations to their TV and toddler. The guests above us sounded as though they were running laps all night long and we didn't have more than two consecutive hours of sleep without being disturbed by the incessant banging. Even walking down the hallway to get ice you cannot tread lightly enough. It's very poorly constructed. There is a nice-looking bar area, as all Courtyard Marriott have, but they're still saying it's closed due to COVID even though mask-mandates have been lifted and their staff wasn't masked whatsoever so it makes zero sense to be closed. The pool is also closed "due to COVID" even though we've stayed at COUNTLESS Courtyard Marriotts where the pool has been open even prior to mask mandates being lifted. They don't advertise that the pool is closed on their website or on booking sites. Had we known there was no bar or pool, we would've stayed elsewhere. After multiple inquiries about the surprisingly inaccessible amenities and complaints about the incessant noise, they offered to remove the cost of one night of our stay. We have no issue paying, we just wish we'd gotten what we paid for. read more

Clean, comfortable. Three of us stayed three nights. We had plenty of towels, it would have been nice to have had some teabags in addition to the three envelopes of decaf coffee next to the coffee maker. The people working here are friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. We wanted to watch the hockey playoff game, and the bartender and the front desk hostess both assisted in setting up the lounge tv, and endeavored to shut off the overhead lights that were bothering one person. It wasn't possible to turn off the lights, but they did check all possibilities and found why those lights had to be on. It was extra work, but they did it to be helpful. If you are here on the weekend, do go to the lounge, have a drink, and visit with Len, bartender. He is the most pleasant, personable, man. He became our friend, so we named our drink for him. I have been staying here since they first opened and I had gotten to know a lot of the staff but after a 6 week closure because of the virus everyone wasnt called back and now its not quite the same. Still great service and all just miss seeing everyone I had gotten to know over the last 5 years. It is your basic Courtyard with a huge lobby, great firepit out back and 2 computers in the backside of the lobby. I have used the pool and the workout room, both small but no problems. One weird thing is 2 years ago they put in a Holiday Inn right beside it and its the same owner, not sure how you can own both but he does as well as others across the state. It is a great location though you cant turn left out of the parking lot, its right turn only. We have always had great service. I recommend them if you will be in the area. Odd number rooms face the front with the view of the city. Even numbers face the back parking lot and a bunch of nothing but Cracker Barrel parking lot. Interstate 85 makes more racket in the back facing rooms. read more

This is easily one of the nicest Courtyards I've stayed at in quite some time. Maybe because it still has that new smell in some of the rooms, but it's very nice. The rooms are gigantic -- or at least mine was. Once I got to my room, I found a long foyer about half the length of the room, that leaves the outside hallway noises and lights away from the bed, desk, and sitting area. That makes for a much quieter nights sleep. Like most Courtyards, the rooms have small refrigerators and coffee makers. The free wi-fi worked perfectly. There's a fire pit in the back of the property the staff indicated they'd be happy to turn on for me that cool evening if I wanted to sit outside. The lobby lounge area is well equipped with a tv, some books, and a nice view to the outside patio. The Bistro in the lobby area is a bonus. Although there's no breakfast included with the room, there's a good selection of food items for all your meals, if you wanted. It's all freshly made as you wait. There's a full bar as well and all of that is in addition to the pantry if you arrive late and just want a small snack. As of today, the Yelp map for this location shows the hotel being in the downtown. The GPS doesn't find it either. That's how new this place is. The maps right now are so far off, don't even try to navigate with them. This Courtyard is right off I-85 behind the currently named blue bayou restaurant. Call the hotel and they'll direct you. They're a friendly group, even early in the morning, and that alone is pretty amazing. read more

The staff was so friendly and remembered me from one day to the next. It was very clean and modern. I did not take advantage of the fire pit outside on the back patio, but the last time I stayed here I did. I also really liked controlling my room temperature and actually being able to set it to a number instead of just cool. read more

Stayed here for a wedding that was nearby! Checked in using the Marriot app and when I got to the desk, check-in took all of 30 seconds. I opened the door to a clean and spacious room. Needed a couple extra blankets for one of the kids and room service brought them immediately. The staff was quite friendly. There were folks from two other weddings staying as well so things could have been really bad, but everything worked out great! They have an attractive bistro, an outdoor fire pit, workout room and indoor pool. Would definitely stay here again. read more

Arguably the best hotel stay we have experienced. Called ahead and spoke with the manager Michael and he accommodated our early arrival. He also gifted us two free glasses of wine since it was our first stay. This was perfect considering we were in town for a wine tasting event. Upon return that evening we were waited on by an incredible bar tender Mary, who mixed great drinks and included us in tasting potential new products. She was knowledgeable about the area and tons of fun. Outside they have a great fire pit with comfortable seats to enjoy drinks. Our room was very clean The layout made it spacious and comfortable. There was a large window that allowed in natural sunlight creating a bright and welcoming experience. We will definitely return to this hotel the next time we come to Salisbury. read more

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a couple days, while the room was VERY nice it did not have a microwave which we thought was very weird. The fridge that was in our room was tiny and could barely hold the leftovers we had got but we didn't have a way to heat them which kinda stunk. The bed was super comfy and the staff was very friendly. read more

My aunt, uncle and Grandma recently stayed here on their trip through town. Brand new hotel, decorated beautifully. Nice large lobby, very comfortable. I thought the room size was very large especially compared to other courtyards. Bathroom was Huge! I had made the reservations online, while logged into my marriot account and thought I put my Aunt's name on reservations but it was in mine. So I called hotel and changed it, it was quick and painless. The person I spoke to was friendly and efficient. When my family went to check, I went inside with my Aunt just in case and it was a quick check in, they still had my rewards number on the check and offered to change it so my Aunt could get her points. She asked if they had a senior rate and they said yes and changed her room rate. Unfortunately they do not have a complimentary breakfast which sucks for those that want something quick before hitting the road. They did,however, put in a driveway from the marriot up the hill to Cracker Barrel, which works out great! read more

While the hotel itself is probably nice, the staff and priorities need work. We always stay at courtyard marriotts for the simple reason that we like to be treated with good hospitality and feel at home. We booked online in advance on their website and when we showed up at 9:00PM they informed us that they had given our room away as a wedding party had extra guests. They then sent us to the holiday inn across the street which didn't have adequate rooms or beds... Then they sent us to the comfort suites which also didn't have enough beds (3 people to 1 bed). While they are paying for the room, we've now been running around for an hour when we could've been resting for our early conference tomorrow morning. Very unhappy with their service and fake attitude. read more

staff is nice but the hotel needs a major makeover. the patio furniture is badly withered. the pool area was dirty and the lock to use your card key to get back in the pool area from outside doesn't work. the bar was not open because of "missing computer parts." the curtains in my room wouldn't open, when I complained, a maid checked on it (days later) and told me the curtain rod was broken. she also pointed out how dirty the curtains were but did not offer to clean them. maids are very chatty, almost to a bizarre degree. it can also be pretty loud if someone is in a room above you, so it's best to get a room on the top floor. however I'd avoid it entirely if I were you. I was also told upon booking that the hotel offered car service. this was an outright lie. when I checked in, I was told no such thing existed there. no Starbucks either, even though there's one advertised and a sign for it above the elevators. disappointing on many levels. also there's a number of homeless people that hang out in the area surrounding the hotel. because of all these issues, this place is not worth the price. read more

Was actually booked at holiday inn and they had overbooked the hotel. So I was shifted over to the Marriott and was told that it would be free of charge. The room had no AC, the room it's self was at 95° outside temperature was 75. I called down to switch rooms and even though there were rooms available and open they would not switch me to one of those rooms. I called the helpline and still they could not help me. I booked a room across the street at the Comfort inn, at 12:30 AM and got a room. Definitely not a way to treat customers that are in your hotel, a lot of trouble with no help from Marriott. I normally stay at Hilton, this is why. This never happens. read more

The staff however has had me going back and forth since December of last year 2016 trying to obtain a refund after charging both my company card and my personal card for a one night stay. Stayed here for a night with family and friends. Everything was super clean. The staff was incredibly accommodating. More-so than I am accustomed to at a 5 star hotel. I even left some clothes behind and the lady in charge of lost and found was super helpful and mailed me back my favorite shirt. Generally, I don't write reviews for what I feel should be standard for a Marriott and what I paid for. They do all the things you expect and do them well. However, in this case, a review is warranted because of the extra mile. The day after the big (for NC) snowstorm, I went down for breakfast and found a nice surprise. Not only was the lot plowed and ready to go, they had cleaned EVERY car in their parking lot and cleaned them properly. I have never seen that done anywhere. Anytime I have to come back for work in this area, I will definitely be back. read more
