I'm writing this review to let you know about Cut Above - Knife and Tool Sharpening located in…read moreTucson. My husband and I had a couple of expensive knives that we had purchased many years ago as well as a couple of other "not so expensive" knives that were all in dire need of sharpening. After looking on the internet, I came across this place and without even checking out their webpage, I called and set up a time to drop off our knives. Turns out, this is the one-man operation of a college student at the University of Arizona who took up cooking and learning how to sharpen utensils during Covid. Anyway - his name is Nick and besides being such a nice human-being, he was able to get our knives sharpened in one day and even brought them out to my car when I went by to pick them up. As far as his charges go - they seemed extremely reasonable to me but since I've never had any knives sharpened before I don't know how his rates compare to others. Regarding the quality of his work - both my husband and I are very happy with it. All the knives are so much sharper and are cutting things so much easier and better now. Why we hadn't had them sharpened before now - I'm not sure of the reason other than their becoming dull doesn't happen over night. To sum up, both my husband and I strongly recommend the services of Nick of Cut Above - Knife and Tool Sharpening.

(I wish I took a before picture) and she also gave me this fish knife that she loves with nice wooden handle, made in USA. I found this place via Yelp and gave it a try. Not only Scott loves his craft, he's passionate, cares and appreciates them the same way we do... I am so glad we found this place and we ended up taking more knifes there. I love his craft, purely magical. I'm going to treasure them and I can't wait to start cooking!

Excellent! First, a…read morelittle backstory... a while back, we sharpened our kitchen knives with a simple sharpener that works by passing a knife through a "V" shape. After many of those, we bought an electric spinning "diamond" coated sharpener. Compared to the manual ones, it worked much better but soon started to wear and develop other issues. Not wanting to deal with that obnoxiously loud semi-broken sharpener, I found this place, and decided to give it a try. I dropped off my mother's six kitchen knives, which they were able to sharpen for me within the hour. When I picked them up, knives were neatly and safely wrapped in newspaper after they were sharpened. When I brought them home, I inspected the blade, and found it has been very well sharpened without damaging the edge, blade, or handle. But, the real test: how will it cut? My mother, who does a lot of from-scratch cooking, including meat and fish, tried the knife. She was extremely impressed with how sharp it was. She said it was sharper than it had come from the factory, and much sharper than knives from our little electric sharpener. When it came time to eat my supper, I used one of the sharpened knives, indeed, it was little cutting through butter. Prices are extremely reasonable for $3 / kitchen knife.

Wonderful service, affordable prices, quality work and overall good people working here. I can't…read morebelieve I've been working with dull knives for so long. I highly recommend this place!
