Ended up going here one night when our regular Mexican restaurant was crazy busy. First impression was pretty good, it's a decently sized place but it wasn't very busy at all. We ordered fajitas and beer, the usual. The service was mediocre, they forgot about our beers and the servers were hard to come by even if it wasn't very busy in there at the time. When the fajitas came out the portion wasn't as big as we are used to and worst of all was the fact that you had to pay for any extra tortillas. When two people are splitting fajitas the three tortillas provided just isn't enough. Overall the place was okay, not the worst Mexican restaurant ever but if I have the choice of either going here or elsewhere I would pick the latter. read more

I moved here from Texas 6 years ago, I was very spoiled. I could eat Mexican every day if it's good. I will say that Garcia's in Franklin is the best Mexican food I have found in Williamson County. I eat there at least once a week. Everything is fresh and tasty. The staff is so friendly. They know us and always greet us and come by our table for Elbow bumps. Carlos is the best. The BEST! We stopped here last night on our way home (North of Nashville) from a funeral and I would 100% make the 45 minute drive and eat here 1000 times again because it was incredible! We had the best server too! We had a party of 13 and he never skipped a beat! He helped me decide which tacos to order and I am not kidding when I say they are the best I've ever had! Pretty good! When we got there, we were seated at a booth. The booth was really hard and a bit uncomfortable. So there was that. When the chips and salsa came out we were very pleasantly surprised. Tasted VERY fresh and delicious. The warm chips meeting the cold, fresh taste of tomato, cilantro, pepper and onion was sublime. We decided to get cheese dip with our food and it was INCREDIBLE. Best I've had in a while. I ordered the shrimp tacos and they were pretty dang good. Shrimp, lettuce, avocado slice, chipotle mayo, and cabbage. I've had better, but these come to a close second. My family has always loved Garcias, but after our experience last night I can assure you that we will be taking our business elsewhere. The food is good, but the service is enough to make you never want to come back. Our waiter was rude and impatient from the start. When I asked for something other than flour tortillas for fajitas, he rudely stated that they don't do substitutions. While finishing up our dinner, he actually said to us "there is a big crowd waiting" while gesturing at the bill. While boxing up my meal, he took the plate right away before I was even finished. I always treat and tip my waiters with the upmost respect and bit my tongue the whole night, and I can assure you that we will not be back. read more

We started with a basic house margaritas and free chips and salsa. The drinks were good and the salsa was great. It was nice and chunky and filled with cilantro. Next up were the steak fajitas. They had a nice taste and the spice they used was just right. The onions were heaped on the platter but there were so few poblano peppers as to be almost nonexistent. And what happened to the nice red, white, and green Mexican flag presentation you normally see with fajitas? No tomatoes! To complete the "flag" I put a little salsa on top and that did the trick. I have returned to this restaurant over and over because their salsa is the best in town. But ... the service is really bad and, if you ask them to bring more salsa ( they bring small bowls when you are first seated) it is NEVER brought out quickly and the staff is almost reluctant to do it. The last two times I ate there (tonight and about 2 weeks ago) my water and soda were not re-filled until I got up to get a server. Both times we were there close to closing time, they weren't busy, but were very inattentive. And, tonight, the man who was cleaning tables was seen picking his nose twice as he stood near the windows in the guest area. I am not sure what is happening here, but I hope they figure it out soon. read more

We were traveling through, met up with family and needed place to eat/drink. Boy, we fortunate to find Garcia's Mexican. There were six of us and we all tried something different. My normally finicky wife had a taco, she loved it. Everyone else had an assortment and there wasn't a negative comment among is. Just empty plates. The margaritas were great. Our server was very knowledgeable and knew all of the items on the menu. Even though the restaurant was busy, our server showed up quickly and attentively. I hate to do this but I have to downgrade this restaurant quite significantly after my last two visits in the hope they will take notice and improve again. This used to be one of my favorite Mexican Restaurants but the last two visits have not been good at all. Yesterday my wife and I went for lunch. She ordered Fajitas and I ordered a Chicken Taco Salad. Her fajitas were not sizzling at all when they arrived and in fact were only lukewarm. On top of that the onions were barely cooked and hard to digest. My Taco Salad was not much better, there was pork mixed with the chicken which is not a problem for me but you simply don't do that. Overall it was quite tasteless and dull. The visit before that was slightly better as the food was at least hot but not the standard we had come to expect. On both visits we had to wait quite a long time for someone to take our orders and they were not that busy on either occasion. read more

This place has the worst Mexican food I've ever experienced. And the service is equally as bad. What I ordered looked like it was just thrown on the plate and the prices are EXTREMELY high for what you get. Most times Mexican restaurants have a great value, but this was not my experience here and I've tried it a couple of times. Never again. We were trying to find a good Mexican restaurant to go to after church today and there was a huge wait everywhere. I remembered seeing Garcia's next to the Hobby Lobby last week and suggested we go there. We got right in and the service was great! We recently moved to Franklin and were in the mood for Mexican. The mostly rave reviews citing fresh ingredients made us think we were in for a treat. Wow. The food here was BAD. Like we "took a few bites each, paid and went elsewhere for dinner" kind of bad. This was quite possibly the worst Mexican food I've ever had. First up, the guacamole. It and the chips were probably the best thing we ate, but I've had much better elsewhere. It was seasoned well, not too spicy, and presented nicely, but nothing special. The salsa was gross. It tasted like they used cheap, canned tomatoes. We both agreed that it tasted like a tin can. No seasoning, flavorless, watery, and very little else added to the tomatoes. Yuck. My husband ordered something with shrimp and chicken in a creamy tomato sauce. The sauce was ok, but the shrimp was tough and obviously frozen. We both agreed that the rice tasted like pre-packaged food service-grade "boil in a bag" with a few tomatoes tossed in for disguise. It was mushy and overcooked as well. I ordered a cheese and a chicken enchilada. The mole sauce on one was way too sweet. The verde sauce on the other was clearly out of a can with an artful toss of cheese in attempt to appear fresh. The tortillas were not homemade and again tasted like cheap food service bulk items. Both enchiladas were barely stuffed. They were more like rolled tortillas with sauce over the top. Very disappointing. I had the same rice mentioned above (eww) and refried beans, which were ok, but could have used some more seasoning. Our service was good, and the restaurant was clean. By far one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. They offer a great variety of dishes not often found at most stereotypical Mexican places in Middle TN. One of the reasons I love this place is that they are one of the few that offer more than just refried beans & rice for sides!
