After perusing the menu for warm drinks a few decided they were hungry so food was ordered as well. I had a matcha latte, unsweetened, and it was a perfect choice to warm up after being out in the wind and bluster that morning. They use a ceremonial grade matcha, which I found to be smooth and really not bitter. I also shared a pastrami sandwich with one of my friends - they were nice enough to bring out the sandwich halves on two plates. While not a New York deli kind of sandwich, it was good - quality ingredients on focaccia. They source their pastrami from a specialty butcher in Denver, though I've forgotten their name. Sandwiches are served with kettle chips that are light, crispy, and not too oily. In a previous visit I had their tuna sandwich and sampled some appetizers. The tuna sandwich was among the best I have ever had - I can't really put my finger on why but I do remember that my first bite wowed me. I didn't see the meze sampler on the menu this time, but as I recall the beet hummus was a standout. I don't lunch out in Old Town very often, but Persimmon is always such a pleasure.
