Posting this as I think it's important to know what you're getting when you contract with a service you may not have a great deal of insight on or about. We got a garage door and door opener installed by Garage Doors Inc. in 2008. They had to replace the springs in 2016 and then again in 2018. The springs broke, yet again, yesterday. Turns out the springs were cheap, the cables were far too thin to support the weight of the door and overall usage, and the rollers were metal when they really should have been rubber. Now that I think of it, the door itself isn't all that great. The wood has been peeling and not taking proper color for some time. Honestly, I would steer clear of this place. read more

Cory, the salesperson at Garage Doors Inc. was very easy to work with and although we were ready to order garage doors for our new home from another vendor, we let him give us a last-minute bid. We ended up going with them and so far, no complaints! Garage doors and openers are installed and the only issues were: 1) They wired the wall-mount openers backwards: left button for right garage, right button for left garage. Easy fix and DH already fixed it. 2) They made holes in the sheetrock "above" and "below" the control unit...not behind it. Odd, but I guess we'll patch those holes. Price was very reasonable for wood doors, lead time was as promised, salesperson was excellent and only a couple of hiccups during installation. read more

GDI built the doors out of wood in 2001 and 2002 when our development was built. We live in a very wet area at the coast, and after 18 years the lower section of our door had some rot. We called GDI and had them build a new section, which is perfect. Also, we purchased from them a new LiftMaster opener. The total cost of these items and their installation was a considerable saving over replacing with a new metal door, and a new metal door would be much less appealing to me. Regrettably my experience is not as glorious as others. I had them make two doors for a brand new house. The doors are mostly OK, but the installation was not. The railings were not plumb and were twisted, causing extra load on the door opener. I later discovered that one of the rollers was not even in the groove. In two places they needed to remove some concrete on the sides so they just crudely hammered it off. Within one year the doors are squeaking and the springs are not balanced. In fact for half of that year I was away on a long term business assignment and did not use the doors. When I called the company they told me "one year warranty, goodbye." My recommendation is to watch over their shoulder and do QA on the spot before paying, or look for a more responsible company. read more

Sal Gonzales responded quickly to my request for a visit and quote and was extremely helpful in identifying what I needed to do to prepare my opening for a door. He was patient and very thorough and I followed his instructions such that when the actual door installers arrived, the installation went very smoothly and now the door performs exactly as it should including setting up the wireless control unit, the keypad and the remotes. While trying to synchronize my car buttons, I inadvertently cancelled all the settings. I called Sal and he immediately came over and reset everything. This was on 3/18/20 when the lock down was in effect. Overall, everything, including the price was exceptional and all is working perfectly. He has apparently been doing this for a long time and he is a perfect gentleman! Francisco came back today to install the newly fabricated panel. It is a perfect match and the door works perfectly.
