I super appreciate this business and their transparency, kindness and the fact they did not pressure me to go with their company. I was in a pickle with a broken spring and cars trapped in garage jail so I started panic calling around to get someone out asap. Their technician Rick was at our home within a couple hours, was very friendly, knowledgeable and did not charge us the dispatch fee. He helped us get in touch with the company we purchased our door from and I was able to get it fixed under warranty. The only thing I would like to say as a con is that they are pretty pricey. I was quoted almost $1300 for one spring that the garage company we normally go through was a little over $500 for spring and labor plus the broken spring was still under their 5 year warranty so I didn't have to pay for one. I needed to get my garage door checked out so I made a call to Garage Door Medics. Rick Weaver came out and he was super personable and helpful. He did not try to sell me something I didn't need and he seemed very honest. He fixed my sensors on my door, lubed up the track and made everything work perfectly. He even screwed in a small piece that was almost coming off. He let me know the LED bulbs I put in the opener may interfere with the signal from the opener. Great tip! He did let me know my opener was 19 years old and it is likely on the way out, so he left me with an estimate for what the charges would be when I am ready, but he was not pushy at all! So, I recently purchased a 2 year old house and discovered that, although my garage door opener worked, it would open randomly on its own and sometimes when we weren't home! Yikes! I did a Google search and found a company to come out and assess the situation. They guy who they sent gave off major shady vibes right from the start and without even looking at or testing the system, he told me my aluminum door was too heavy for the existing opener and it would be $600 to $5000 to replace it! I told him I'd have to think about it and sent him on his way.... Then I found GARAGE DOOR MEDICS. I was impressed with their company's mission statement on their website that tells the consumer "We don't recommend things that you don't need". Honesty and integrity go a long way with me. They sent me Rick, one of their techs the very next day. I received confirmation emails and texts re my appointment, and even a mini-bio on our service tech Rick. The initial diagnostic visit is $99 and was definitely worth it. He took his time examining our system and ended up re-mounting the sensors to the walls instead of the rails (where they were previously mounted) thus eliminating the shifting sensors which interrupted the laser connection. So, no more phantom openings of our garage door! He was able to complete this all for just the $99 fee. Super professional and conscientious, knowledgeable and friendly. Knowing that could turn into a bigger repair I called them right away to schedule a visit. The tech came out and fixed the roller and serviced the door. While he was here we noticed some other components in need of replacement that would have to be done at a different time. The tech that came out the second time was Rick W. Rick came out and re-inspected the door and opener from top to bottom, every nook and cranny was checked. Called Garage Door Medics for a single broken hinge. I've used them in the past to do the springs no issue. Tech showed up and glanced at the hinge from afar and said he doesn't have that hinge. He said that "I" can order it online from the manufacturer (don't know why they can't order it). He then offered to replace an entire row of 5 hinges as an option with the hinges that he did have with him. Why would I replace 4 good hinges at $35+ a piece rather than order the one that is broken and replace it? I declined the ridiculous option of replacing perfectly good hinges because he didn't have the part. Then he tried to collect a $99 service call. I declined that as well. I would gladly have paid the service fee if he either did the work, or told me he could replace the broken hinge in which I declined. You can't go to someone's house and tell them you can't do the work but they somehow now owe a service fee. That's just shady for so many reasons. I ended up ordering the hinge. During my call with the garage door manufacturer he said that he has never heard of replacing just one row of hinges with a different type of hinge. He said if you're going to use a different type of hinge that all hinges on each panel must be replaced with the different hinge not one row. read more

wow! these guys are great... called at 8:45 this morning and spoke to the scheduler...she was super friendly ... she sent out Jesse within an hour and he was able to repair my mom's garage door by replacing a simple part. Hello, my wife and I recently had our garage door opener break. I know enough to know it was the spring and we should replace both while at it. We were not stuck in the garage and it was not an emergency. We called the garage door medic out for a quote. They responded the next day. They said I was right, it was the spring. Quoted my wife $776 to replace both springs and one center bearing!!!! Broken down the quote was $279 per spring and $100 for a bearing. And there is $100 fee to have them come out. They played the covid card and said prices had gone up. I got on the phone with them and said thank you for the assessment but no thanks. I did my due diligence with eight other vendors, All reputable here on Yelp, or word of mouth referrals from our maintenance guys at work. All quoting apples to apples, literally I used the spec the garage door medic gave us. None quoted no more than $350. And as little as $280 for the exact same work on the exact same timeline!! Very little variance for 8 quotes. And you have garage door medic at $776.... ? It is not defensible to try and take people for this much money and stick them with $100 fee for a 10-minute visit if they don't agree. I don't think that it was the technician's fault, I just think the business structure is shady. That, or they were trying to take advantage of my wife not being familiar with garage doors. I did speak with the CEO who said he would into it and I would hear back from him. He never heard back, so I'm going to tell our story. Friendly, prompt, upfront, and honest company. Our technician was awesome; however I don't believe he had any control over the pricing. We ended up going with another company due to pricing. This company's quote was more than double what I paid for at another company. I only wanted a torsion bar replaced with springs for one garage (there were a lot of parts involved with this work order). I had another company replace both my garage door torsion bars with springs (including new cables and other necessary parts). Most of the other local companies I called do not charge a fee to diagnose. My husband had the Garage Door Medics come out without calling around to other companies first. When the Garage Door Medics quoted $1054 to fix a garage door spring, I knew we were not dealing with an honest company. Today I had David Perez come to our house for routing maintenance on our garage door. He was very nice and did a great job. He replaced batteries on our two remote controls. He also replaced both end bearing plates which were worn. He also did the tuneup, lubricating and re-balancing. He had no problem with answering all of my questions. By the way, Tara and Ciera in their office were nice and helpful. Of the few garage door companies I called on Saturday Garage Door Medics was the only one that had an employee to answer the phone and not an answering service. Came to fix my broken garage door within an hour of calling on a Saturday. Price was steep at $400 for a broken spring but they did a full inspection of my door and also lubed all the hinge points. Tech was friendly and knowledgeable and completed the work within 45 UPDATE: Changing my review to 5 stars. I had the garage door break again on a Sunday night and the tech arrived at 10:00pm and stayed until almost 2:00am to get the job done. He went out of his way (and his pocket) to update the rollers and strengthen the door with reinforcement beams because the door was so poorly installed by the builder. The tech left my house at 2am to his house that was 45 minutes away and had to be back at work at 8am because of a sick tech he was filling in for. Overcharge Garage door springs broke and we called these guys for a quote because they had really great reviews. They told me the only option was to convert to a Torsion Springs system for $650. I had a TorqueMaster Plus spring system and fixing it would cost so much more, Only options was replacement. That sounded WAY too expensive and set off a few alarms to me. So I did a little research. Springs for my system cost around $100 each from the manufacturer. Total parts costs would be around $200 if I did it myself. I also looked up the price of Torsion conversion kits like they recommended and they start around $150 and up. They wanted $650 Installed for what he said was a 40 min Install. The high quote set off way too many alarms for me and I'm glad i did a little research afterwards. These guys are taking advantage of owners that just don't know anything about garage door. Steer clear and look for other local contractors. I got a quote for HALF with part for a repair. read more
