Outstanding in every detail. It's nice to have a nice, quiet motor. I discovered one small problem a few hours after the work was done. Like a lot of home electrical work that is done sometimes, it will cause a GFI switch to activate, which happened in my garage. I lost all power in the garage. I called Alan; he asked me to check the GFI switches. I did locate the one that tripped. Just a little FYI: after the work is finished, have the installer check that the power has not been turned off by a GFI switch. :) read more

After long days at work, we came home to find our garage door refusing to open or close. We were able to manually open it and get the cars in, but we couldn't manage to close it. In all my wisdom, I applied too much strength and ended up pulling half the thing out of its track! It was late but according to the website, this place was still open. I called and explained the situation to Allen. He said he'd be by within the hour. Not even 30 minutes later, he showed up. He was efficient, straight to the point, and even took the time to teach us some of the mechanics of the garage door mechanism while he worked. He fixed it in no time and charged a reasonable price - especially considering the entire garage door fiasco was fixed within the hour! I would happily hire Allan again in the future! read more

My husband and I were shopping around for a new garage door. We reached out to a couple of business, and Allan was the second person to come out. I contacted him because of the great reviews, he is local, and he owns the business. What I liked was that I did not have to follow up with him on the set consult date. He confirmed the scheduled time and made sure to text an ETA. He was very informative! Speaking about a garage door, different RV values, and opener types is like a different language to me. He pointed out that although our door was old, it was in good condition and probably one of the better made doors produced at the time. He asked what we were looking for in a door, and then narrowed it down to what we might like. I had no idea there were so many options for a garage door. He did not suggest purchasing the most expensive door out there, and did recommend a brand that was reputable and much cheaper. He told us he could quote any door we like, but wanted us to know there were other brands out there that were very good quality doors and more affordable. He was really quick to get a quote out. In my case, I asked for several quotes, which he was happy to provide. I will say that the decision on which business to go with was extremely difficult. I really liked Allan and also the owner of another business who provided the first quote. Ultimately, it came down to price. It wasn't a huge price difference, in my opinion, but because we decided on getting a pricier door, on top of having a lot of work done on the garage within the next couple of months, we wanted to save some money to go towards that. Honestly, if we didn't have such a big project, we would have hired him. It takes a confident business owner to have "5 star" in their business name, and Allan definitely is deserving of that title. He really did provide 5 star service. Although I went with another business, I would definitely recommend giving him a call. read more

Second time using Allen at 5-Star, and he has earned the business name. Garage door spring broke, while not an 'emergency', since I pulled the cord and used all available resources to open the door, it needed fixing. I called last minute, he said if it was urgent he could fit it in later, or at least get the door open, but I said no, next day was fine. Showed up when he said he would, fixed it fast, lubed all the necessary parts, done! And let me say, the door opening is now SO QUIET. Well done. Price was fair, if I did it I would have lost a limb and STILL needed him. Nice guy too. read more

Our cable snapped on our garage door and I texted Allan of the problem. He called me back right away to let me know he was on his way to a job in La Cresta and he would be able to come by later and wanted to know the details and if there would be somebody home. A man of his word, he texted he was on his way. I was away at an appointment so he met with my husband. According to my hubby, Allan explained what had happened and repaired the broken cable and had the garage door fully operational in about half an hour. I knew our decision to go with Allan and 5 Star Garage Door Solutions was solid! Allan's commitment to excellence in customer service and his impeccable reliability are so evident especially in this situation we recently experienced. We will continue to highly recommend this company. Thank you Allan for taking care of us! read more

Was shopping around for a new garage door to replace our old cracked one. Allan was very informative, giving his honest advice and opinions on what types of doors were best suited for the area, and based on the orientation and needs of the house. We opted for a more expensive steelback door, and got a very reasonable price. Was able to schedule an install within a week, and Daniel came out on the day, doing quick and thorough work. When a dent was discovered on the new door, they immediately informed me and offered to return a few days later to replace the damaged part. Very nice, honest people! read more

Allan saved the day! I thought my garage door was all the way open, so I started to back my car out and my spoiler caught the door, causing some damage to the door and the track... and my garage door wouldn't stay closed. I immediately jumped on Yelp and found Allan and read all his great reviews. I called him and lucky me, he was coming my way soon and was available to come check out the damage. He was calm, extremely nice, reassured me that my mistake is unfortunately common (thank you for making this girl not feel dumb haha) and got to work. About 20ish minutes later, he was done and it was as if nothing happened. He was professional, knowledgeable and very reasonably priced. I'll be calling him in the future when we need to replace the motor. Thank you Allan! read more

Today was the second day that I have called this company out. The first one was about a year ago, and Allen was amazing. Very knowledgeable, laid-back, and I didn't feel like I was talking to a salesman. Just a very honest business owner who was so much cheaper than the company I had called out before. Plus he fixed more than the more expensive company was going to. So I called him back out today and he was just as awesome. If you're looking for garage repair, skip the big companies and stick with the small business. You'll be very happy that you did. Thank you, Allen! read more

Excellent quality and install work. Highly recommend this guy. Cool, professional and fair priced. Love my new Garage door opener.

Fantastic service and great price. Highly recommended! Work was done promptly and totally happy with results.

Spoke to Alan on Monday morning. We discussed my broken garage door. I sent pictures and received an estimate (good/reasonable amount). He gave me an hour time frame for my appointment. Servicer Dan (apologies if I have his name wrong) was prompt. He answered all questions and had repair done in an hour. Our home is 18 years old. We weren't aware we needed to maintain the spring with silicone based lubricant. We had done nothing ever. Our spring wasn't broken/separated yet. We chose to replace it and wheels. We should be good and now we know how to maintain it. Highly recommend 5 Star, Alan, and Dan were great! Our repair done right and within our budget. Thank you! read more

Just got off the phone with the owner Alan here and wanted to share my experience in just speaking with him and how helpful he was. Last week our spring broke and we always call our usual garage contractor and every time he leaves... we felt we got ripped of or paid more than what we should have. Today I priced with Alan and his cost was also 30% cheaper than what we have paid (so mad). Wish you were closer and would def use you next time, meantime I need to fire my garage contractor and find someone more honest and patient in educating customers. So we got taken for a ride today and this will be the last, lesson learned :(. I appreciate you taking the time to speak with me and simply educating me even though we did not conduct business today. God bless you and we need more garage specialist like yourself... honesty is key. read more
