I went to Garage 75 for the first time Friday. I met yo with colleagues for Happy Hour. I like the set up, and love that there are games to be played while having a drink. We enjoyed appetizers, and drinks. Everything we had was delicious, except for one which I'll get to next. The flatbread was delicious-a nice mix of sweet and savory. The mac & cheese was just right-could rival the best at any hot spot. The nachos were out of this world. The potatoes were fresh sliced, and cooked perfectly. The toppings were perfectly combined, with a great amount of each. The disappointing dish-the Warm Crab Dip. This was the worst crab dip I have ever tried. We were all put off when we saw the brownish color of it. We tried to eat a couple bites, but it was just disgusting. The service was excellent, and I definitely plan to return, but I would like to see some changes made to the crab dip! read more

I wanted to try this place because the food looked good, and they have an arcade! I started with the corn dogs. They were just ok. Nothing special. The crust was not crunchy, but soggy, so not much of a fan of that. Then had the side salad which was really nice! The ranch is fantastic here! Then moved on to the ribeye! It was great flavor, but unfortunately over cooked. I ordered med rare, but was more on the med well side. I was a bit disappointed that they actually charge $2 to change from fries to potato wedges. Not sure of the reason why, but seemed unnecessary. The arcade was ok, not many options, but I'm a pinball fan. They had 3 machines to choose from. We had just arrived in Charleston and needed something close to eat and we found this place. My husband ordered wings which were good even though they gave him the wrong flavor for his wings. My parents took me to dinner here last night. I've lived in the area for 3 years, and I am disappointed that this is the first time I've been here!! I will absolutely be back. We were quickly seated and gotten drinks by our server, who was very attentive but not overbearing throughout the meal. The manager checked on us once after we got our food, which was a nice addition. The food was great and very reasonably priced! I had the fried chicken salad, which was fresh and healthy but left be feeing satisfied. Both my parents had the ribeye steaks with baked potatoes. The steaks were cooked perfectly and were flavorful and tender. For the price it was a steal! With drinks and the three meals, it was under $52 before taxes; this is extremely hard to do in Charleston! They have bowling and arcade games to keep kids and adults entertained! Went to watch my favorite team play on a Saturday night while we were in town. Place was pretty busy but we were able to get a booth quickly. Our waiter, Zack, (who wears many hats!) was awesome! Took great care of us and made us want to come back really soon. Too bad we're not locals, would frequent the Garage. I'm the chili head but my wife was the one devouring the mango habanero boneless wings, couldn't get enough! We'll definitely be back. Durning a recent family trip, we decided to stop for dinner at Garage 75. We have two children ages 16 and 5. So mostly we went for the video games. I had the "Better Be Tender, Chicken Tenders" dinner plate with Mac and Cheese. Honestly, my chicken was amazing. I didn't care for the Mac and Cheese but I think that was just my tastebuds. My daughter had chicken also and ate everything from her plate. My son had a cheeseburger. He also ate everything and seemed to enjoy it all. My wife, had the cajun shrimp. She said they were good but extremely spicy. It came with a salad that looked good. Our waitress was very friendly and nice. She recommended us going to the beach just up the road after dinner, and we did. The ONLY reason I didn't give five stars is because the bathroom at the back of the arcade was dirty and smelled pretty bad. When the manager came over to speak to us she didnt seem to care, and she was very rude. We were not looking for a discount but rather just to let management know the poor quality of their food. CAVEAT: I gave this place 5 stars because I do think it's a neat place with a lot of appeal. But if you are looking for old-school arcade games, this is not your place. And that's what I was looking for. The games are all new novelties. It's Dave & Busters lite. So for my fellow retro-gamers, skip this place. I did notice another arcade at a bowling alley in Charleston. Shoulda gone with my gut and tried that one. A lot of bowling alleys have hidden treasures in my experience. I'd encourage management to bring in a couple original arcade cabinets. Make a relationship with a local who can service them from time to time. It'd thrill a lot of old-timer players. Add a Time Pilot, a Pole Position, and a Pac-- for less than a grand investment-- and rotate a new cab in from time to time-- and it'd be 5 stars without the caveat. read more

This place was great. Very cool place to get some food or drinks or just go play some games. The place is split into the arcade area and another area that is more of just a bar/restaurant area. But there is still seating in the arcade area, which we chose to sit in since there was no wait there. Obviously it's a little bit more noisy and stuff in that area, but there's a reason they give you the option so I can't complain. The only thing I would say is the service seemed a tad bit slow. But not egregiously slow. I didn't know what to expect as far as the quality of food going into it, because I didn't know if it was more of an arcade or a restaurant, but the burger and chips I ordered greatly exceeded my expectations. In fact, I would say the burger was easily in the upper 20 percent at least of burgers I have ever had, and the chips as a side were really good too. I ordered off their cocktail menu to try it out, and was satisfied by the quality of drinks they had as well. Of course, the last thing to review would be the arcade, the thing that makes this place unique. It was very cool. Had most things you would expect. The order can be split with two different sauces. We ended up getting boneless with Caribbean Jerk and Sriracha Honey. The jerk is a dry rub and was delicious with a little ranch. It was the day after the hurricane and they were short staff. They told us it was a 45 min wait, so we ordered a beer from their pick up window and then watched our kids play arcade games. Well I guess I learned something from this very bad experience. Apparently chickens can have tumors and the USDA allows for diseased birds to be processed and used. But finding your chicken finger green isn't something someone wants to find while dining. So here is my issue.....once we found our green chicken tender, my husband went for the manager. He promptly told me the chicken had a tumor and it happens and offered to replace my one chicken tender. you can only imagine my response to that. How would you respond? Perhaps I was a little heated. I have worked in food service most of my working life and if I was in his position, I would have been embarrassed, contrite, and quick to replace all of the food with something else at no charge. I mean, how often does this actually happen? It must happen often enough for the manager to be so nonchalant about it. Maybe they should rethink who they get their diseased chickens from if "it happens all the time". (He told me that). so this is the point I wasn't so nice....I am paying $15 for a green chicken dinner that I have just been sent to school on, and expected to understand that it is normal to see tumors in chicken. Really? I have eaten chickens my whole life and I have never encountered a green tumor in a chicken. It can't be that normal! We have had bad experiences here on many occasions with the food, (not the service) my husband warned me not to order food here and I didn't listen, and we keep coming back because we really enjoy the atmosphere but this is most definitely the last time. Not just because of the food but the manager handled this situation so badly and aggressively that I will NOT be back. He should know better. He has been in this business long enough to know how to handle difficult patrons like myself. (I really am not that bad) Don't tell me to expect this to happen and offer to replace my one chicken finger and treat me like I should know that chickens get tumors. Take your green chicken and serve it to someone else that will understand better than I that "these things happen". A word to the wise....when eating chicken here, it might have cancer. I seem to enjoy this place every time I go and I haven't even been to half of it. I always just sit at the bar, enjoy some beer or a cocktail and some food. Having experienced its predecessor, Max and Henry's I do have an option for comparison. The basic structure did not change, but many elements did. 1. The service for a bar and grill and game environment is top notch. A host meets you at the door, the wait staff is attentive and follow up is strong. Some go to dine and some to drink. Either way, they are on top. 2. Solid food selections. I highly recommend the flatbreads and the chicken philly (not even remotely healthy, but so good). 3. Games, games, games. This restaurant has two sections (dining and bar / dining and games). From pinball to ping pong, this is a great hang out for children and adults. 4. One of the best sports bars on James Island. Not only do they surround you with hi-def TV, but the size of their screens are some of the best on JI. 5. Parking can get tight, but it is rare that the lot is full. Now the National Championship with Clemson in it was a whole different ball game (No pun intended). But for the most part, parking is quite easy. This is a good time place with good food and service. Seems like a popping place to have a great night and spend time with friends, however, our experience was different. As we walked in, we were sat down within 10 minutes (not bad) and were handed our menus. 15 minutes go by and no one took a simple drink order which was irritating because our server even stopped by to let us know he was coming back. I would've expected him to at least take a drink order so he doesn't make two trips, but he bolted off. Another 10 minutes and he returned. By this time we already knew what we wanted to eat because we waited soo long. We had to ask for the dipping sauce 4 times! Then he only brings 1?! The food was not appetizing, dry, and we had burnt crisps in the nachos. This was disappointing. Our server was spilling our drinks all over because how much of a rush he was in (I'd like to pay for a full beer, not half!) Then swapped the drinks among the table. Did we have time to complain? No because he ran off! Trying to keep a steady, positive, night we just asked for the check and to-go boxes. We packed our food and told the guy in the front we were putting it in our car. He acknowledged and told us that was fine. It wasn't fine. Upon returning to the door to play the games, he demanded to see our ID'S again! This review is kind of a modge podge because there are so many different things I'm going to say. First, Garage 75 is huge. It's a lot of space utilized very well. Arcade on one side, restaurant on the other with a bar right in the middle. Secondly, their booths are huge and spacious. We started lunch off with the lemon pepper wings and corn dogs as appetizers. Idk what it is but when I see corn dogs on the menu, they've gotta be tried. However, the breading on those corn dogs was too soft. I like it with a bit of crunch before biting into the hot dog. I didn't get that here. Somewhat disappointing but the brown mustard was good. The wings were good ! Fried hard enough on the outside but the chicken was still juicy on the inside and extra lemon peppery. I'd definitely go back to try some of their other flavors. I built my own burger. Beef, muenster cheese, bacon and pickles. Sounded like a great idea. Execution was just ok. It ended up being a bit messy. I asked for medium and got medium well.. I got macaroni and cheese. It comes in a skillet which is a fun concept. The pasta wasn't salted much (if at all) so the flavors weren't initially cohesive. Once I added table salt and mixed it in it was much better. Despite it not being the best thing, I'd definitely go back to see if maybe I like their other options. Bff got the fried chicken salad. She completely devoured it and loved their ranch dressing. Garage 75 may be old to you but I just became obsessed! It looks mostly like a big bar with the regular bar set-up and games on one side, but after walking in, you get the play on a garage through the name of menu items and other small tokens like having the drink menu on an old license plate. The bar is very spacious and although service isn't super speedy the staff are nice, cognizant if you've been waiting a while, and will be sure to do what they can to ensure you have a great experience. The food kind of blows my mind everyone I go- it's kind of scary how good it is! Lol. Of course I expect bar food, but you also subconsciously expect each bar to have some things they are good at and some they are not- with that is just not the case here! To begin the specials they have every night are hard to walk away from, but from the burger, to wings (if you aren't there on Thursday for 20 wings for $12 then that's your fault!), to fried shrimp- you just can't go wrong! And their French fry wedges are like they were made at home, no skimpy potatoes at this place ! We had some baked oysters for an app and I really loved them. It was football season so the place was pretty busy. My table and I ordered several rounds of appetizers but not a proper entrée. I was impressed with the nachos and flatbreads. The mac and cheese and the grilled rainbow carrots were good. This is a nice local place on James Island. It's a bar/restaurant/gaming area. The arcade area is fun for kids while waiting on food. Food is above average bar style food.
