I came in for dinner with my family. The food is good but the waitress said I can't have Mac and cheese as a side when it's a special of the day on a Friday. And apparently you can't have a salad as a vegetable/side either. They were going to charge $3.75 for a small side of Mac and cheese. Ridiculous. Went out for dinner last night with the BF, and picked this place cause they serve breakfast all day (who wouldn't want that). I ordered the Hunngryman breakfast which is 2 eggs, mine were over medium, 2 pancakes or french toast, i chose french toast, home fries, 1 side of meat, i got some extra crispy bacon, and 2 slices of toast. The home fries were a little bland, wish they had some sort of seasoning on them, and the french toast was the same way. The eggs were cooked perfect and the bacon was deliciously crispy. The BF ordered a corned beef sandwich with french fries, which looked amazing, came with a lot of corned beef stacked between two slices of sourdough bread and a cup of the seafood bisque. I made a comment during ordering that the bisque sounded yummy, so the waitress assumed i wanted a cup. We ended taking that home with us, since i really didn't mean to order it. However the waitress was super nice, checked on us a few times to make sure everything was to our liking. I know the place doesn't look nice (kinda old and a little run down) but the food is good for the price and the staff is always friendly. Awesome service. We had stopped by another diner first but it was so busy we decided to go to this one. So glad we did. We were starving, and we were seated, served coffee, got orders taken, and were served our meals all within 10-15 min. The Hungry Mans breakfast had awesome volume for the price (so cheap!) and good diner quality. Our waitress and the staff were super quick with our meals and check out. I don't know where so.e of these people are but it wasn't gap diner in Gap Pa. First of all we don't serve breakfast burritos. But there is a McDonald's across the street that might if you want to go there. One of the reviews mentions a waitress named Brittany? No waitress there by that name. Another mentions an older woman with blond hair and glasses behind the register. We do have host people for that position but are all school age kids. If you have real issues than post what you think, but there's no reason to make stuff up unless you're a despirate attention seeker. read more

Not a great place, but it does not deserve such low ratings. The food is always pretty great and has excellent prices. Not to mention it's pretty much the only 24/7 place in the area. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by an order here, especially since the new owners have taken over. However, somehow the waitresses seem to be constantly unhappy. Some are great waitresses, but on multiple occasions I have witnessed them fighting with each other or management at the bar/counter area right in front of customers. Very unprofessional and very distracting when you're trying to enjoy a meal. If you have a problem, discuss it in a more private area, not yelling at each other in front of customers, especially since this would have a great family atmosphere if it wasn't for that. Horrible food. The "buttered corn" and "chicken corn soup" was full of wet stale freezer corn. The "dutch chicken pot pie" was a soup with 3x3 inch pasta squares, overdone potatoes, carrots and celery and literally 2 bite-sized pieces of flavorless chicken. It was mother's day and my wife wanted to try the gap diner. everything started out fine I ordered haddock and my wife ordered prime rib. It took a while to get our order and all I can say is it was the worse meal I was ever served, the prime rib was full of fat and cold and my haddock was not haddock and it looked so bad I was afraid to eat it. if you are into food poisoning this the diner you, if not stay away far far away. read more

This is the best diner in Monroe County. I have been to every diner around my house, like over 15 and none of them seem to be able to provide a grilled cheese that isnt burnt or undercooked but Gap Diner provides. And the home fries are ACTUALLY good! Its amazing! Most diners don't put any effort into home fries but gap diner does! And the entire breakfeast was amazing, the pancakes were AMAZING so perfect. My girlfriend and I had just finished up what turned out to be the most physically challenging hike of my life and were starving as we were driving from East Stroudsburg back to Philly. I was overcome with the urge for a big cheeseburger and so I was thrilled when we came upon the Gap Diner. The interior was very cute and mostly empty, other than one or two elderly pairs sipping coffee. The staff were polite, although at one point they were openly discussing how it was pointless for them to come in if there was no one here, which doesn't really instill confidence in a patron. The menu was perfectly boring with nothing special at all. Prices were fairly cheap, which was nice. We ordered cheese fries to start with and then I got a cheeseburger and my girlfriend got a feta omelet. Everything was no frills, totally basic. I enjoyed my burger but I got the feeling it was frozen rather than freshly made. It hard the burger and cheese, that was it. Some other toppings would have been nice. The cheese fries were tasty, but perfectly basic. The only reason I gave this place a 3 stars rather than 2 was that my girlfriend really loved her omelette. Once again, though, nothing too special about it--just feta and egg and that's it. In the end I probably would not go back. The decor was cute and the food wasn't bad but it was overall just an extremely thrill-less dining experience. read more

We stopped on a Friday night at 5:30. The service was very adequate. However, the food was a disappointment. I ordered a "Homemade Stuffed Pork chop". While the stuffing may have been homemade, the pork chop had the consistency and taste of precooked canned meat. It was really not very good. My wife ordered a tuna melt. I would expect canned meat for tuna but not for the pork chop. She said the tuna part of the sandwich was little more than tuna and salad dressing. Not much creativity to make it something to draw you back. We often stop in Wind Gap to eat a quick supper, usually at Burger King. We enjoyed the side of mac & cheese that my son got the last time we were there so today since we are locals, I had my husband go pick up three mac & cheese orders. I meant the sides not double portions. Three mac & cheese came to $30! So after I got over the shock of that, I opened it up to eat it and it sucks. It is made with only American cheese. It does not have the same flavor it did couple of weeks ago when she told me that they made it with cheddar cheese. I am not happy about this at all. $30 for nothing. As I read some of these other reviews, I can't help but wonder 'Just what do people expect?' IT's a small, local, mom n pop DINER - not a 5-Star restaurant! Someone complained, "The menu is perfectly boring with nothing special." People...it's a freakin' DINER! I've been coming here for 15 years. I'm perfectly happy with the menu and the food because I expect DINER FARE! I don't expect anything "special." I've never had a problem with wait staff - maybe because I'm not a self-absorbed, overly demanding pompous ass who expects fancy cuisine from A FREAKING DINER! In 15 years, I've never had a bad meal here. The food is very decent. The prices are very reasonable and the place is somewhat small, so yes - one might hear the staff engaged in conversation! I've always found the staff friendly, but like anywhere else, if they get their nerves frayed due to an inordinate number of overly demanding pompous asses in there at any one time, one must expect them to be human! The place gets very busy, which clearly indicates they're doing something right! The tables are so low that unless you slump in your booth to the point of laying flat, you might as well be eating off of the floor. I ordered breakfast, the cheese in my omelette was not melted, it was like a lukewarm Kraft single. The Hashbrowns were not cooked, and the toast was a pitifully thin and tiny peace of buttered cardboard. Also, on the coldest November day yet recorded in the history of Wind Gap, there was no heat on in the bathroom. For myself and one other person to have omelettes without sides cost $20. Had I buttered and eaten the $20 bill, I couldn't have wasted it more utterly. I will never patronize this dump again. I would recommend that you don't either. Stopped here on my way to Stroudsburg. I should have waited until I got to my destination! I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, well done, with lettuce, tomato, and onion. My burger was cooked medium rare and had no lettuce or bacon! What's the point of asking how I'd like my meal cooked if it's going to be how the chef wants it anyway? The waitress was rude when I wanted it deducted from the bill because I could not eat it. She said I should have said something and should wait for a new one to be made. Excuse me??? I didn't have another 20 minutes to wait for my food! And she never came over to check on us after the food was delivered! This is not the first time this has happened either, I came here about a year ago and ordered a well done burger and it was again severely undercooked and not what I asked for. We stopped in here for a quick lunch. My 4 friends were leery of going in, but I enjoy a good dive, so I was enthusiastic enough. Well, turns out I should have listened to the friends. The staff failed to bring out my friend's water (it took 3 requests to actually get it). When we said we needed more time to decide on our orders, the woman came back two minutes later and literally stood next to the table staring at us for several minutes(!!!) while we finished perusing the menu. The waitress couldn't tell my friend if there was egg in the veggie burgers (yes, they come frozen, but go read the box, please! Do people not care about dietary restrictions/allergies?). they ended up charging me for 2 sodas, even though I only had one (and no, we didn't get any refills, but watch out -- those DO cost extra, I hear!). They would not take it off the bill either, it was ridiculous. The cashier didn't know how to operate the till and kept us waiting as she couldn't figure out how to read the bill (? I am still confused as to what the issue was). All around, it was a poor choice and I would never return. The food was OK, but I'd sooner go across the street to Wendy's than return to this diner.
