I called a few days before the release of Spider-Man 2 for the PS5, and they said they were doing a midnight release. I was very excited since I wanted a physical copy of the game and was still able to play it at midnight. So I pre-ordered the game and paid the entire price.
Fast forward to midnight on the night of the release... I arrive at 12:20 a.m. and the gates are already closed. I knock on the door as I see two employees inside, and all they did was look away without acknowledging me.
Then I called the store phone and apparently the registers were down so they were unable to "finalize" my receipt even though I already paid the full price of the game. I was so mad I asked if I could just refund my pre order so I could buy a digital copy of the PlayStation store that night, BUT NO. They won't give me the game at midnight, and also I'm not allowed to refund the pre order.
WHAT A FANTASTIC MIDNIGHT RELEASE THAT WAS. I mean no wonder no one buys physical copies anymore the least they could do is stay open until 12:30 or 1:00 so that people can get physical copies and play them they day they are out. I'm not going to GameStop for new games after this I'll just buy digital copies after staying up past midnight for nothing. read more
