I purchased from Game Hunters around Christmas time last year (2022) and I have been there multiple times before that but had never made any purchases. I bought majority of my boyfriends big presents here considering he is a video game collector and I know they have a WIDE variety, especially in horror games which is my boyfriends favorite genre. I was worried going into the store that because I was a girl that I would not get as much help (which happens at a lot of retro video game stores unfortunately), but they were so helpful and made sure to give me prices for everything and search for any game I was looking for. They actually gave me a super good deal on my stuff, I got a Dreamcast keyboard in box for $60, Parasite Eve CIB for $70, and Parasite Eve 2 CIB for $90. These prices were lower than average ESPECIALLY for the amazing condition they were in; barely any scratches on the discs whatsoever, bonus discs and manuals included, and both cases in great shape. The person who helped me (I don't know his name unfortunately, all I know is he is asian and has glasses, in his early 20's) made sure to give me the best looking case and best looking discs from the other Parasite Eve's he had there and swapped them into each one I was buying, he was an absolute real one. I spent $220 in total and it would have been a bit more if he had not offered to do a bundle offer :D read more

I own over 350 PS1 games in which none of them are from this store. The guy I dealt with had a huge selection of titles I didn't own and actually wanted but when I asked for prices he looked on eBay (not sold) and amazon and told me a $25 game was worth $100 (he said he saw it on amazon) while I had a current price guide right in front of me. I tried 3 different games and can get better deals hunting on EBay... so I'll continue hunting elsewhere. A shame because if he was reasonable I would have bought upwards of 10-20 games. This is the best local game store hands down. When I first came here 3 years ago, I was offered over double what I was offered at multiple other stores for a trade in on retro games/systems. The staff is extremely professional, friendly and generous when taking trade ins. I've always been given a fair and honest deal. Great selection of retro and current games. couple of young guys that know there sh , true the store is small, and you may see an empty soda cup on the counter,but put in mine the reason you went there.I take my son every month and he gets. great deals. Its nice to see a big smile from my son as we exit the store. After my son plays a game but wants to try others they happily exchange it for another, So if you want to complain about a little dust go to a cleaner, larger store and you will be paying for that.Please don't misunderstand me,this store is clean, you can't please everyone. Game Hunters is a case of good news, bad news. The good news is that they carry games for many different platforms, from the Atari VCS to the Xbox 360. There are some decent gems to be found if you look hard enough here. There is also a nice library of used movies as well, if you're looking to add to your library. Unfortunately, the bad news outweighs the good. For starters, there are no prices on the items for sale. This adds unnecessary mystery to the shopping experience. It requires almost constant interactivity with the staff on duty, which can be frustrating if you're looking for prices on multiple games. The next problem is the condition of some of the cartridges and game cases. Dust gets into the cartridges (one cart I saw for sale had corrosion on the contacts) and sunlight damages some of the game cases, diluting the color and making them less of a value for collectors. Finally, there's only loose organization (by section) for the cartridges, meaning that customers will need to spend some time looking high and low for specific games that they may be looking for. I do recommend Game Hunters to those who may be looking for older games (NES/SNES/Genesis), as there's a pretty significant selection to be seen here. The recommendation does, however, come with warnings to allow extra time in the shopping experience to search for what you may be looking for and to check the condition of the games you wish to buy before committing to a purchase. read more

I want to like the store. I really do. Their selection is impressive, and they have a ton of great vintage stuff. The problem, however, is that there are no prices on any of the games. That means that every time you see something that you might be interested in, you have to ask one of the bored (and, occasionally, surly) employees how much it costs. THEN, if they don't ignore you, the employee will look the price up on the internet. For each and every game you have. Seriously. You are going to pay eBay/Amazon prices, with no discount. Plus they don't take into account the often grimy and sun-damaged condition of their product. The place is a dump - there is dust and dirt everywhere, and the games all look like they have been abused by your least favorite cousin. So save your time, and just try to snag a good deal online, because there are no deals to be had here. read more

***AVOID THIS DUMP*** They charge ebay prices on games that have been sitting in the sun for years. They don't seem to take any pride in their work, as game are strewn about, all over the store floor. I have never seen as much dust in my life- it's as if they haven't cleaned the place in years. Those poor games. Save your time and just shop online. Look at the other reviews, very similar to my experience there. Tried to purchase a SNES game here, was initially told it would be $40, and after browsing the store a bit more to see if there was anything else I wanted, I was told the price was actually $60. What really "grinds my gears" is that there are no labeled prices... is that even legal? Never seen a store without prices clearly labeled. The Video Game Castle a few miles away doesn't have a problem with this and they have a bigger store with more games. Anyway, looks like Kevin H is an employee there, so I would take his input with a grain of salt... of course he'd give his own store a 5* review. The game prices beat pretty much every game store around Springfield, even that Gameplay store in Eastfield Mall can't compete with their prices. Especially trade-in values. I recommend everyone to go there! I've had no problem with the employees and they are always extremely helpful and patient with me so if you're planning to buy a new or used game, check out Gamehunters cause you'll save some money. read more

Only one person in this family owned business seems to know what he's talking about, and he's definitely NOT a part of the family. Most of the times I go in there I am met with attitude by the lady I assume is the owner. They have a decent selection of games from new to retro. The store shelves are usually a mess and most of the people working there are constantly staring at their cell phones or computer screens. Unfortunately anytime I ask for a rare game from behind the counter, I am treated as if I cannot afford it. I'm here to spend money but sometimes it seems they don't want it. Overall I would rate it higher based on the customer service I am given from Mike (the employee I mentioned earlier). He knows his Games better than any store I've been in. But Gamehunters as a whole is worth stopping into if just to see what I mean. I would say maybe it was bad timing on my part, but it's like this every time i go in. They have a very large selection if games and movies from Atari to the current gen of ps4 and Xbox one, DVDs and blu rays. The workers are very knowledgable of their games and give out great recommendations. The games don't have labels on them so some communication is needed but understand that they're a small store and prices fluctuate and re-pricing their huge selection of games would be a hassle. As for prices they're A+, 90% of the time they have the best prices or can atleast price match and... NO TAX!! You just can't beat these prices. There are rarely any stores that carry old retro games but this store has it all, I've seen some rare cartridges such as mega man x3, smash bros, Zelda's, bad fur day. The rare games are generally alittle bit less then the average online price which is great so don't expect to find a steal price. They ran all the money out of my pockets, I am very satisfied. read more
