Games, movies, music. Old and new, there's tons of every type of media in the store. Everything from Atari and Sega CD to Nintendo Switch and PS5. Prices were equal to or even less than you'd find online. All the discs I checked were in great shape too, I did notice a resurfacer behind the counter. Even got to chatting with the owner for some time, very nice guy! Places like this are a rarity nowadays in the disposable world of convenient streaming, but I love being able to peruse the aisles. Streaming titles come and go, and it can't recreate the feeling of owning something and using it over and over again. This store isn't a relic of the past, it's an iconic place that is genuinely timeless.

stopped in today with my 3yo and 7mo right at noon to avoid a breakdown from either due to…read morehunger/tiredness. got a nice comment on how they were well-behaved, so that was cool. bins upon bins of old and newer records. the labels all have comments if a record is 'a bit scratchy' or 'first US pressing' or whatever else, so they give you a heads up. they'll also let you give it a listen on the turntable to make sure you know what it is you're buying and to make sure it sounds ok, though I'm sure they do their due diligence before crating them. there are tons of $3/4 for $10 bins as well as New Release shelves and there is a little (ok, a LOT) bit of everything. got 2 Johnny Cash records, a 2-LP Lynyrd Skynyrd live recording, and an Otis Spann LP for $22. didn't listen in-store as kids were volatile. got home, listened to them each for a few minutes, and they sounded great. the Spann record had 'a bit scratchy' written on the $6 price sticker but it sounded pretty good, like it was pressed in 1961 (which it was). new to the record player game and after getting 4 new presses for the holidays it was cool to get 4 'new' ones that were all 25+ years old. definitely gonna be back, without kids next time.

Here's the thing, though: museums like to place very-well-known cultural artifacts wide out in the open and secured, so anybody knows it's worth it. But that won't happen to you in a cultural goldmine in Game Depot, and that's because you have to know who wants what, and that means knowing the local community. While I was there, the proprietor, Chris, spoke to all sorts of locals about games they might be interested in, other games soon to come in or that just left, and other materials like a Spongebob CRT TV. (That's how you know I'm not making this up. *lol* ) You're likely here to sell or buy, not to know what makes this place tick. There's a lot of dense shelves of media that cover all sorts of video game consoles and video media players. From what I know, Christopher offers a professional standard rate on cash purchases: Half the rate he can sell it at. I think I understand, because where he's at must have plenty of people stopping by for media in the local industry. I tend to look for Rock/pop & jazz but there are some other well stocked genres. One big difference here are the holy grails. You know, the "I have been looking for a while and I know it's not going to be cheap, but I gotta have it, records." I'd say you'll see more here than other stores and the pricing is fair. Online you'll often find the grails but the sellers are looking to retire off the sale where as here you'll pay a price that you'll feel good about. They know what they have, and it's priced accordingly, but stuff that doesn't move seems to get discounted (despite what Discogs says it's worth) Clean, organized, friendly staff, no pressure. They are organized in sections by genre but still allow for hunting which makes it fun! Ready for the best part??? Almost everything in the store is only $2!!!!
