COVID-19 update. They're open, but they keep the door locked and will talk to customers one at a time. No customers are allowed inside the store. After hearing bad things here and there in the press (since I follow video game journalism closely), I was pleasantly surprised to have a great customer service experience here this afternoon. A while back the website (gamestop.com) had a sale on refurbished PSVR headsets, so I got one for my friend. It shipped to his house. With all of the pandemic craziness, it took him a while to try it out. He discovered that the processor unit wasn't working. I finally got around to getting it from him last weekend, and after verifying that it didn't work for me either, I thought I'd be out of luck since I was past the 30-day guarantee period. I called up this store and someone listened carefully to my issue and told me that even though he couldn't replace the defective unit himself, he should be able to take the return and place another order for me at the same price, even though the sale was over. I drove over a few minutes later. They verified that I had all of the parts and, as promised, put in a new order to be sent to my friend. While I was waiting, I saw them patiently help out a few other customers, proactively letting someone looking for a particular accessory know the closest store with the item and also encouraging them to check back the next day since they had some in transit. I've been to other Gamestops where the staff has not been as welcoming and helpful. I'm happy to support this one and feel better about my pre-order (placed a few weeks ago for this location) for Tony Hawk Remastered. read more

My son's paradise!! At one point, it used to be my paradise too. These days, my 8-year-old son is completely into games! He loves going to Target to check out games, but he also enjoys visiting GameStop! However, GameStop feels different now--less about new games and gaming-related items, and more about used games and random toys that don't make much sense. It feels like it has changed a lot compared to before. read more

Gamestop - Hobby Shops Near Me - Redwood City, California

Customer service is terrible... store opens later than time posted .... Employees spend more time on the phone e talking to other stores while customer stands in line waiting for them. Employees care more about talking video games and shop talk then helping a customer.... read more

All members received a call for midnight launch pre order of Pokemon ZA I arrived at 8:40pm & they were open but i didn't really know what was going on so I waited outside with the rest of the people waiting. They start calling people in by receipts with different colored stickers a group of people & I was left confused so I waited anyway & right when there was 10 people left the GameStop employee (light skin long curly hair) comes out with a stuck up attitude saying "we are past the time we're supposed to be here im sorry you're going to have to come tomorrow" someone said we've been waiting here quite a while & some of us traveled to get our game" the employee responded "its late I don't get paid enough to be here this long im closing the store comeback tomorrow" like wait hold on I thought this was a midnight release? Typically these last about an hour maximum & they couldn't serve the last few people who waited? They wasted my valuable time & I had made my purchase in full I wasn't there to buy my copy I was there to pick it up. Terrible service terrible employee & the most disappointing launch I have ever experienced. Never coming back for another launch. Find people who are passionate for games not mediocres who just know about it. Honestly sad & super upsetting . DONT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. read more

I had the best experience at GameStop today. The worker who helped me provided outstanding customer service. He was super knowledgeable about everything, making the entire process quick and easy. He answered all my questions with professionalism and seemed to really know his stuff. Honestly, this guy deserves a raise maybe even a promotion to management. Best service I've had at any GameStop. read more

I hate game stop all they do is rip people I went in to return some items and they offers me the 10th of its price

I just tried to come to this store to utilize happy returns for which this was a listed location. In the middle of the day it was shut down with a sign saying someone would be back in an hour. Very unprofessional and poor service. read more

Never open during posted business hours. Came at 2:15pm on Monday and store is closed and caged like it never even opened up that day. This is not the first time but it seems now they don't even bother opening up the store. Store hours don't mean jack here but try downloading the "when the manager feels like working today" app for store updates. Do yourself favor and Just order your games online. read more

I don't know what Samantha issue is, but she is really rude. I went in to trade my XBOX and PS5. I walked up to the counter with both boxes in hand and she's just sitting there with her red hair and Jurassic Park shirt knowing full well I'm waiting on her to help me. It took her about 40 secs to acknowledge me. She just calls out for someone else to help me who is stocking games on the shelves at the other end of the store. Also when another guy came in and walked up to the counter as I was standing there, she did the exact same thing. He said, "Hello?" Like, "Do you not see me standing in front of you?" She calls over some other guy to help him. If she don't like her job she needs to stay home. read more

The store was closed during posted business hours. I came at 12.20 and waited 10 minutes, nobody showed up.

Super friendly and helpful employees at this location. Trevor and Dwight welcomed us in and helped us right away with positive attitudes. My bf & I have literally been to almost every GameStop around the bay area and normally staff is rude so we dread going into them but now this is our favorite one ever. Would definitely be back! read more

So I have been waiting for at least 45 minutes. They've had there sign to come back for 4:20pm from a break or whatever it maybe. It's already 5:05pm. Not a good look and I cant get a hold of anyone on the phone as well. read more

I was initially pissed the University Ave location close and I got relegated here, but after several visits I've had the same bomb experience shopping here: super friendly employees willing to talk shop about current/upcoming games. I feel just as comfortable dropping a paycheck on a huge purchase or merely browsing pre-orders without the danger of an unwanted hard sell. As a west coaster, I will say I'm a big fan of how this place handles midnight releases, something University Ave did not. For big games like Battlefront, they'll have the game come out at 9 PM. That way, you can play with your east coast friends as soon as possible. Maybe it's so the employees can come home earlier too, but I appreciate the extra effort that didn't have to be taken. read more

During these hectic days of holiday shopping I was in need of finding some unique, special gifts for my family. I called the GameStop in Redwood City and asked the sales associate if they had Dark Souls gift items in stock. The sales associate then placed me on hold and took the time to find EVERYTHING in the store that had the Dark Souls theme. First: I so very appreciate the fact that the person had helped me over the phone so that I could avoid a drive to the store if there wasn't anything in stock. Second: The Redwood City GameStop has MANY items in stock, compared to other GameStop stores! Third: I have since gone back to buy more items because of an awesome sales associate named Kayee- I must say that the GameStop Redwood City staff were all so very helpful and it's nice to meet a friendly face that's willing to assist during these hectic times. This *IS* the GameStop of choice for me for all of my future gaming needs! read more

So I think I might be a tad biased because I worked here for a year so bear with me lol. The store itself was kinda shabby when I was working there ~5 years ago, but I just went in recently and WOW, it's changed a lot! The floors are more modern and the better organization makes it sleeker so that's a definite improvement. I only had to return a couple of items yet I was in line for maybe 25-30 minutes. Not sure what the hold up was for so many people working, and they did apologize. I know how it can be, not an issue. This is the only Gamestop I'll review; I never did like the trade back system. Always thought the exchange rate was too obnoxiously for-profit rather than existing to support gamers utilizing the full value of their purchases. I heard some weird stuff went down with the manager who hired me and now they have a new one, so hopefully that's going well. Hey any future Gamestop employees reading this, remember: if they make you clean the employee bathroom you never even use, or the nasty communal microwave, don't waste your time doing it. JUST QUIT!! read more

This place is a joke I'm done shopping here I'd rather just pre-order on Amazon. I feel like it's robbery when you bring in games for trade seems more worthwhile just to keep them Rather to get pennies on the dollar. The staff is friendly and they seem to know there stuff. It's not the employees fault it's the company's model that's broken shop somewhere else read more

So I was cleaning out my closet and found my two XBOX 360 consoles. One was an XBOX 360 Elite and the other was a new XBOX 360 4GB with Kinect. I figured I could get some change in trade with the two consoles, a large assorted of accessories, some games, and an old iPhone 5 I was looking to offload. I called the store and the employee (I want to say her name was Mikala? She talked extremely fast when she said her name) on the other end of the phone seemed annoyed with me the moment I started explaining what I was looking to do. She started off by telling me in a condescending tone that she was not going to take the new XBOX 360/kinect 4GB today without a receipt due to company policy. Even if I could provide a receipt (I purchased the XBOX on Amazon), she stated that it was not going to happen today. When I mentioned that I had two consoles to trade, she then claimed that I can't trade two of the same consoles on the same day per company policy as well. Once seeing that she was being extremely unhelpful, I decided to try my luck with another store. I contacted a store far north up the Peninsula, it turns out that Gamestop would take both consoles as they are different models. The store I ended up taking it to didn't request a receipt for the newer model XBOX either. So after experiencing poor customer service from this store, particularly where the employees are not familiar with their own company policy, I won't be doing business here again. read more

Great staff members! Whatever you want/need they're more than eager to help. I Recently got a wii system for my nephews & I was a little overwhelmed to go in and get 10 year old stuff I didn't know anything about, but upon asking the first question, they made me feel comfortable and encouraged me to ask more. Not only did they answer my questions they gave me more helpful information about what I was coming in about, what to watch out for, what else I should get, etc. Equipment sold on amazon also (similar prices), but why wait for delivery when you could get it right away? Thanks, guys! read more

My son's review is " this is my favorite store" my family is always on the hunt for new collection for my son. One is hana suki. At GameStop they sell the pluses. I though of ordering online hopping to get the ones we need but when I mention that to Kayee she told me do not worry I can call the stores around us and will get them for you. WOW amazing service. We are more known for the collections that my son Loves. She is always ready to help us and find what we need. Games I only shop at this place. I called the store to see if they had a game in stock but I was put on hold for 16 MINUTES. Then they hung up on me! I mean, I didn't catch the name of the person who answered because he immediately put me on hold but I am TRIGGERED. How dare he! 16 MINUTES? It's a Gamestop not a five star restaurant! There isn't even cool music to listen to while I wait! The only person saving this review from getting one star is the employee named Gray who has helped me several times without a problem.
