This GameStop was atrocious, they shamed me in front of my friends, and then refused to give my change to me. Horrible experience.

I was able to put a hold on a hard to get console and the people working there were very knowledgeable and helpful.

These guys are pretty helpful. Manageable lines and speedy service. Always aware of expiration on pro accounts and upcoming games.

There are numerous signs clearly displayed letting people know it is not in fact an arcade. Even the company's voicemail message makes it clear. Joystix Classic Games & Pinballs is actually a working showroom that opens once a month for Pac-Man Fever Night, when every game is set to free play. It's one of the most fun and unique experiences in Houston. We hosted my wife's birthday party here, and it was fantastic. Renting the space was simple, the staff was awesome, and having the 1820 Lounge next door made it the perfect setup for a group celebration. Everyone had an amazing time. I highly recommend booking the showroom for events, you will not be disappointed. The owner is Charlie, he is outstanding. He is friendly, passionate, and deeply knowledgeable about pinball and arcade history. You can tell he truly cares about preserving the hobby and sharing it with others. He takes care of his customers and is very courteous to those who are considering a purchase. If you love pinball, classic arcades, or just want to do something different, Joystix is a must-visit Houston gem.

To ALL GameStop's GameStop is what happens when a company refuses to die out of pure stubbornness…read moreand nostalgia. It's a retail fossil desperately clinging to relevance in a world that figured out digital downloads a decade ago. Walking into a GameStop feels like stepping into a time capsule from 2009--except everything is more expensive and somehow worse. Their business model? Buy your brand-new $70 game for the price of a vending machine snack, then proudly resell it for nearly full price like they did you a favor. Nothing quite hits like being offered $4.37 in store credit for something you paid real money for and then watching it reappear on the shelf for $54.99. The stores themselves are cramped, awkward, and smell faintly of Funko Pops and broken dreams. Shelves are packed with plastic figurines no one asked for, while actual games feel like an afterthought. It's less "gaming store" and more "merch landfill with delusions of relevance." Customer interactions are a gamble. You might get a chill employee who gets it--or you'll get a corporate-script-reading NPC trying to upsell you a warranty on a disc that will outlive civilization. "Would you like to pre-order?" No. "Are you a PowerUp Rewards member?" Also no. "Are you sure?" Yes. Please stop. And let's not forget the irony: a company that once thrived on physical media now survives mostly as a meme stock and a punchline. The internet didn't save GameStop because it was good--it saved it because chaos is funny. In short, GameStop is the Blockbuster of gaming, except Blockbuster at least had the decency to die when it was time. GameStop just keeps respawning, somehow with less dignity each time. Rating: 2/10 One point for nostalgia. One point because it's still technically open.
