Store is lacking. Stock of games is meh. If you're a retro gamer/collector , look elsewhere... I've been in a ton of retro video game stores and this may be the worst as far as inventory is concerned.. The store is really clean , but that's about it..

This is their gift card. How cool is that?!

It's like this place sells memories of my childhood. Absolutely priceless! I am so happy that I discovered this store. Two aspects absolutely amaze me about this place: 1. The games/consoles that are sold are at fantastic prices. 2. The customer service is EXTRAORDINARY! The employees also seemed to know everything about every video game known to man! I purchased a Sega Genesis console for $40 and a bunch of cartridges. (More specifically, Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, Sonic and Knuckles, Sonic Spinball, Streets of Rage 1, Streets of Rage 2, Golden Axe). None of the cartridges cost more than $20, which is a huge bargain! Now, I do have to point out the games and systems are refurbished, so KEEP YOUR RECEIPT. I had trouble getting Sonic to jump and spin dash when I started playing, so I brought back the system. They checked it out and immediately traded it for a new one. Recently, this store has been becoming super popular, so the higher-demanded games tend to sell out quickly. For example, you'll almost never be able to find Super smash for N64. So you better hurry and get familiar with this store before it becomes super famous! Re-discover your childhood!

Depending on the system you're looking for, they have a pretty good selection of games, hardware and accessories. Service by Luis was super friendly and very knowledgeable when speaking to the other customers. He was kind enough to let me open an iPhone case so I could see it in total. That was pretty cool of him, as I know he didn't have to. If this place was closer to me, I'm sure I'd visit this place a whole lot more. But if you're a collector, I'd recommend checking it out if you've never been. Lots of different systems and games for sure.

You got the touch!! You got THE POWER!!!

If you don't go to Game Over for any other reason, go to see the old Game systems. Some I had never seen or heard of.

Good for "old" and secondhand videos games, weak selection of overpriced retro games and consoles.

It's a retail fossil desperately clinging to relevance in a world that figured out digital downloads a decade ago. Walking into a GameStop feels like stepping into a time capsule from 2009--except everything is more expensive and somehow worse. Their business model? Buy your brand-new $70 game for the price of a vending machine snack, then proudly resell it for nearly full price like they did you a favor. Nothing quite hits like being offered $4.37 in store credit for something you paid real money for and then watching it reappear on the shelf for $54.99. The stores themselves are cramped, awkward, and smell faintly of Funko Pops and broken dreams. Shelves are packed with plastic figurines no one asked for, while actual games feel like an afterthought. It's less "gaming store" and more "merch landfill with delusions of relevance." Customer interactions are a gamble. You might get a chill employee who gets it--or you'll get a corporate-script-reading NPC trying to upsell you a warranty on a disc that will outlive civilization. "Would you like to pre-order?" No. "Are you a PowerUp Rewards member?" Also no. "Are you sure?" Yes. Please stop. And let's not forget the irony: a company that once thrived on physical media now survives mostly as a meme stock and a punchline. The internet didn't save GameStop because it was good--it saved it because chaos is funny. In short, GameStop is the Blockbuster of gaming, except Blockbuster at least had the decency to die when it was time. GameStop just keeps respawning, somehow with less dignity each time. Rating: 2/10 One point for nostalgia. One point because it's still technically open.

There are numerous signs clearly displayed letting people know it is not in fact an arcade. Even the company's voicemail message makes it clear. Joystix Classic Games & Pinballs is actually a working showroom that opens once a month for Pac-Man Fever Night, when every game is set to free play. It's one of the most fun and unique experiences in Houston. We hosted my wife's birthday party here, and it was fantastic. Renting the space was simple, the staff was awesome, and having the 1820 Lounge next door made it the perfect setup for a group celebration. Everyone had an amazing time. I highly recommend booking the showroom for events, you will not be disappointed. The owner is Charlie, he is outstanding. He is friendly, passionate, and deeply knowledgeable about pinball and arcade history. You can tell he truly cares about preserving the hobby and sharing it with others. He takes care of his customers and is very courteous to those who are considering a purchase.
