My one star is for the TCG and grading services. They never have product and they lost a ton of my cards that were going to be graded at PSA. After the cards were lost the store and GameStop customer service could not help me out. I ended up getting paid Pennie's on the dollar for the cards that were lost and I did not get a refund for the amount that I paid on the grading. Once they contact you if you do not agree with what they want to pay you they do not answer you back. Awwwww, the good ol' GameStop for all those wishing to escape reality via their televisions. I admit it, I am a grown ass man and I love video games. So of course I have to visit GameStop every once in awhile. I've been looking for a OLED Nintendo switch since launch and they had some in stock at this location, as for GameStop goes it's typical narrowed packed store with new and used games. As for the OLED switch it is such an AMAZING improvement in screen size and quality! The build is also so much refined. A solid upgrade! I suggest that anyone thinking about upgrading their switch console does it. The screen along with the upgraded memory and kickstand makes the extra $50 worth it. The staff here is very nice. They are also very knowledgeable in their product. During the holidays I purchased a bunch of games from them. I didn't know they had warranties on their games and it was very affordable. They let me know it's worth it and it is! Their pricing on games is standard. Also they have everything in stock. For whatever reason they don't they can let you know which GameStop has the item you are looking for, which is very helpful. Overall these guys here are awesome. Major computer malfunction today-- I GET IT! In 2018, we all expect computers to do what we want, the millisecond we want it. It just doesn't work that way. What I was REALLY thankful for is one of the staff members Jonathan. We were in line for a while, to be perfectly honest probably about 20 minutes. Not one time did Jonathan ever NOT work during that time. Operating quickly with both hands doing SOMETHING either on a game, on the computer, on a device or something behind the counter he never once stood still and acknowledged every person walking in the door. Looking line a really good bartender making two separate drinks at once. Quick, efficient and very effective. There was a line even when we walked in, and I was thankful even then that we were acknowledged with a friendly, not seemingly obligatory, "hey guys, how you doin?" and looked at us as he said it. Even though we had zero percentage of anger or impatience (we understand the pressure working good customer service when there's pressure of a line and computer issues) the acknowledgment of the wait was really appreciated. We apologized for a long transaction (two system and 3 game trade-ins for a brand NEW system purchase) he told us not to be sorry at all, that he was going to make sure everything was done right to help us get our transaction done correctly. I was so thankful for that. We've never been to the Gilroy GameStop, but we HAVE been to many GameStops before. We're thankful we came to this one, on a random whim. We live in San Jose and hopped towns just to mix up the day a bit. GameStop should be proud to have an asset like Jonathan who cares about the customers as people, not just numbers. I love this place. My family loves to play video games. LOVES. And this place seems to have everything you could want, as long as it's still in circulation. So you won't necessarily find used SNES games, but you can find new and used games and consoles like PS2, 3, and 4, Xbox 360 and 1, etc. Although the prices are a bit higher than you can get by download, it makes sense with brick and mortar plus employees makes it more money. But the employees are always helpful and kind, and pretty standard quirky. They also sell some toys and clothing, mostly based on the games they sell or some of the trendy tv shows (as of this review I saw Harry Potter and Stranger Things clothing available). They offer little nicknacks and supplies for gifts or gaming. They also have an area to purchase gift cards for PlayStation network, Xbox memberships and the like. I do have to say, I hate the parking lot. I tend to park back quite a ways in the Best Buy/Chili's area. Makes it a lot easier. read more

I am DONE with this place. I bought a Nintendo switch last year and bought a protection plan for it. I made a claim in May to get it replaced and finally got a message a month ago. The customer service rep said he will process the replacement no problem. So I'm here wondering why I didn't get a replacement, come to find out from the guy at the store that I was given a refund because they did not have any USED ones to replace my damaged item. And since my original purchase was a pre owned item, I can only get back a pre owned item. They did not tell me this when I bought the protection plan and I'm just sitting here with a flimsy check that won't cover a new switch. I called more than 15 times to get some clarity on it from customer service. I heard 10 different responses from "yes we can issue you the rest of the money for a new one" to "there is nothing we can do sorry bye" So even though I'm ok with getting a used one again. THEY HAVE NONE, so I'm suppose to wait until they have someone turn theirs in in order for me to get a switch instead of them just covering the difference I need for a new item. The customer service agent over email was super helpful and made it very easy but their lack of communication with each other and terrible customer service is just gross. read more

Somehow I always end up renewing my discount game card. They always get me! That being said it is a pretty good discount if you buy used games, and I always buy used games. They are always a better deal than buying new games, plus you can return a used game if it doesn't work or maybe you play it for a day and it sucks. You cannot return a new game for a refund, at least not the last time I tried. They have a large selection of used games and accessories, consoles, ipods, ect. and you can trade in all of those things here as well. Their website is also super helpful because you can find out if they have a new or used copy of what you want at that particular store before you go. When this place is busy it takes a long time to check out but when it's not then I have no qualms with their checkout. read more

As at every single Gamestop location, they will try to sell you a membership, but they're not too pushy about it. This location has a great selection of used games, and they always have some incentives and specials to make trade-ins more valuable. I have to say since my home branch was closed down I went from going to gamestop 2-3 times a week to once every 3 months if even. After a my elite controller broke I found my insurance was still covered so I payed a visit to this branch. As I talked to the employee about getting a replacement all he was able to give me at the moment was a used product. This employee did his best to satisfy my needs and was very respectful and understanding of my situation. I did not want a used item because that's not why I purchased the insurance and I knew I wouldn't be able to get the insurance again on a used item. The employee told me his manager would be able to help and provide more options on what we could do. I called back when the manager Jordan was there and this is when the experience went from good to great. Not only did Jordan understand the time restrictions on my replacement (insurance ran out in a week) but he contacted me multiple times later that day with updates. I usually do my shopping here for every game I buy unless of course I find it online cheaper through Xbox live or some other website, however the last time I came into the store I tried to pick up a copy of Diablo 3 that was on sale and the associate told me they had no copies left. Even after finding the case on the shelf and checking store availability for the game on their website he still argued with me saying they don't have it! I later learned that GameStop implemented a policy which is forcing their employees to lie to customers in order to sell off their used stock instead of honoring the sale prices they set for games. This didn't really bother me at the time cause Xbox live was also having a sale on the game so regardless GameStop lost my business that day. Really do like shopping here, but for the time being I know what employee to never go to if I want to ask about stock on games. read more

I wouldn't even give this a star. As a former worker at a Gamestop I came in 515 pm on the 4th of April 2019. I only state that because the girl working at that time needs to be fired. I walked in with no one behind the register fully open. No one in the store with the back room open. They were in the backroom singing. I could have easily stolen the games behind the register and anything and gotten away. As I was looking around another guy came in and waited for five to ten minutes then left because he didn't receive any help. As I was walking back to the center on my way out the lady came out and apologized that she wasn't out and didn't notice it either WHICH MEANS SHE WASNT EVEN WATCHING THE CAMERAS IN THE BACK!!! I told her that there was nothing that she could help me with and also told her that another guy came and left because no one was here. was told the afternoon of, that there would be extra Nintendo Switch's at their midnight launch event for those who didn't pre-order the Switch. Get there at about quarter until midnight, wait in line behind people (who i found out were only preorders) and when i ask how many extras there were for those who didn't preorder were told "sorry we don't have any" and that i should have waited in line at 3pm with the other people....keep in mind i was in line, and was told there were no extras for those who didn't preorder the console BEFORE THE MIDNIGHT TIME-MARK. how? they were allowing people with preorder receipts in before midnight, to get a slip so they could get through the line quick once midnight struck. ...how were there no more extras when midnight hadn't struck, i was in line and appeared to be the ONLY one who didn't preorder the device (only because i couldn't, they were sold out the moment i found out i even could preorder the Switch), and was told that there would be extras when i called at like 2pm? no i was lied to. unprofessional as hell, and when i spoke on the phone with them, was interrupted by the employee on the phone (shane, i believe? i don't exactly remember as he was kinda mumbling when he answered) and then put on hold, only to talk to another employee (who i dont believe gave me a name) who felt it more important to talk to people around his person, in the store, while he was trying to answer my questions (interrupting himself and in general extremely unprofessional). so needless to say, never going to this particular gamestop again, besides to get my money back for my Breath of the Wild preorder that i managed to snag when i tried to preorder the console in the first place. Think i'll go to Toys R Us or Best Buy instead, they're better at everything. read more
