I really love coming to this store. I'm a person that likes to pick through things to find what I'm looking for or often something I didn't know I wanted to begin with. There's games of all type, collectable figurines, T shirts and tons of game systems. Want to know the best part? They have layaway! This place is awesome. I hate to leave an overly negative review for anything, but unfortunately this location has fallen off HARD. Went in with my spouse to do some trade-ins and potentially pick up a newer console; we had looked on GameStops own website ahead of time to get ballpark prices on what our things might be worth, in particular some consoles. When we walked in, there may as well not have been anyone behind the counter. We had to initate all conversation and were treated very rudely for...asking the person behind the counter to do part of their job? They needed to test the consoles, which is to be expected, but we got to stand in silence the whole time they did so, while other customers began to also wait to be checked out. The prices we were offered were just shy of highway robbery- 12$ for a perfectly functional PS4, for starters. Mind you, they were selling the same console in a case not 2 feet away for nearly 150$. I'm never, ever expecting my moneys worth when making a trade in but good lord, not even 20$? After standing there in complete silence and being glared at for nearly 20 minutes, we took our stuff and left. You'd be better off selling on Facebook or frankly, throwing your things to the curb. At least the curb won't treat you as miserably. read more

Extremely friendly and knowledgeable one person staff at the time of shopping. He explained a game to me that I was interested in and my boyfriend was able to find and purchase the game that he wanted to buy. I will go back this Saturday for their sale day for sure to see if the game I was interested in is at a lower However, their return policy is a joke. My boyfriend attempted to return or exchange a defective or poorly constructed 10 dollar ds game holder and they couldn't do anything about it. Rightfully so my bf walked out of the store leaving the item behind. Terrible return policy. read more

Went to the GameStop this evening and had a less than stellar interaction with the staff. The guy checking us out told me that I was paying 8.99 to renew my membership and when I paid it showed 14.99. Gave me a bs excuse that it discounts the games but shows 14.99. The tag clearly shows with a membership that the games are that discounted price. So I feel bamboozled. I bought an accessory for my son's Nintendo switch and the flyer shows 20% off and when I asked them, they told me the 20% was already in the price. Seriously. Nothing at all on the tag shows a different original price. I think they are just shady. They had a shifty sounding answer for everything I tell ya. Guess I will go somewhere else next time. Not please at all and I have been shopping at GameStop for years with all my platforms. Will rethink that in the future. read more

I've been coming to this location for a little over 2 years and honestly, I'm terrible for not writing a review sooner. I really like this location! The folks here are very helpful and always friendly. Kim is funny, smart, friendly and very smart. She will always go out of her way to make you feel like part of the family. Marlon is witty, sarcastic as hell and truly will give you 110%. They both have given me excellent advice on games to buy and have even gotten me interested in new genres that I didn't think I would like. My down time is precious to me so I'm really happy when I don't have to worry about something I'm buying being terrible/not working. I'm shocked to see the overall rating but with an N of 2....Either way, for the past two years, I have had top notch service even when they're super busy. They always prioritize folks present in store over the phone but are also very polite to those who are waiting on the phone so even when I do call, I'm not put off or stuck waiting forever and a day. The motto here and the message that I get from the employee's is that they will take all the time you need to make sure you're fully satisfied and will take the same amount of time with the person behind you, behind them, and behind them as well. Honestly, despite it resulting in sometimes long wait times, I really appreciate this because I know that I'm getting their 100% attention and help. I would much rather wait a little bit and get amazing service than get helped in a rushed manner and then them running off. These guys were also one of the initial pushes for doing a mini Pokemon Gym thing (at all the GameStop locations in AK) which was pretty sweet. Nothing fancy honestly but it was fun (and way better than Pokemon Go). It's now gotten to the point that I pretty much rely on these folks here on their opinions on upcoming games/systems on whether or not I should get them and they haven't steered me wrong yet! I refuse to go anywhere else or buy online (even though I buy most things online-especially living in Alaska). I really can't ask for a better shopping experience! Thanks!!! read more

I went here last weekend. Not only was there a line of 10+ with one employee working the register, he was on the phone the whole time. To said employee: There is a hold button, kiddo. You have a line with that many people, no one short of the President of the United States is that important. And since I was forced to stand there and listen to your phone etiquette...oh my God. Your social skills are appalling. Not to get personal but I felt awkward just listening to your call by proxy. I left - I can order stuff online in less time than it took you to check out one customer. And you were STILL on the phone when we left. read more

People here have always been courteous, to those who have had to wait in line, you're in a video game store, lighten the f*ck up, so what if you had to wait, you're no more important than the one behind the counter.
