When I used to live in CT (over 10 years ago at this point) I used to frequent this Retro Games…read morePlus location on the turnpike whenever I had the chance. A few weeks ago I was back in the nutmeg and when I realized I was in the area, I made it a point to check this shop out once again. Strange enough, I now live in Los Angeles so I frequent the SoCal locations when I can and was stoked to see what this one had to offer. This shop has some arcade machines in the front, a very solid movie selection, retro toys for sale, and of course, a bunch of retro video games, accessories, and consoles to pick up if thats what you need. My current "looking for" list is pretty much just Gamecube games and Criterion Blu Rays, so I was super stoked to stumble across a copy of The Graduate when I didn't see any Gamecube games I was looking for. Like all retro stores, prices here can vary and can sometimes be good and sometimes be bad, things were pretty reasonably prices on this trip and I left a happy camper. Overall, Retro Games Plus is one of the better game stores in Connecticut and thanks to Game Exchange becoming a slop factory, definitely the best in this area. The staff here is knowledgable, the selection is great, and even if you can't find a game, you are sure to find something else when you stop by.

Trade in prices are an absolute joke, brought in a bunch of figures all in good condition, waited…read moreover half an hour to get an offer and was offered $15 dollars. Staff were nice and I get you're trying to make money but $15 is absolutely ridiculous!

I have literally been waiting to check out Retro Junk for like 4 years and this weekend was finally…read moremy chance to do so. I was last in the nutmeg stage way back in 2022 when some friends and I drove to Manchester to check this place out, well, we should have checked the hours because it was closed and I wanted to cry. Well, now it's 2026 and a buddy of mine made sure we came on a day they were actually opened and I'm sure glad we did. This store is absolutely perfect from the first room full of arcade machines, on card action figures, and random toys to the video game room full of classics from the Dreamcast, GameCube, and even modern switch stuff. The last room here is vintage shirts and such which I didn't spend much time glancing at, but was a cool edition. It was cool seeing a place in Connecticut filled with old WWF stuff, Big Bad Beetle Borgs, Nintendo Powers, and tons and tons of figures, I wish this place was here when I lived in the area a decade ago. Overall, this is definitely one of my new favourite spots on Connecticut and definitely somewhere I'll be shopping at again on future trips. Even though I left empty handed (can only fit so much back to LA) I already look forward to coming back.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Their selection of items is huge; video games, action figures and items from the 80s and 90s. Value depends on what you purchase. Video games ranged from $4.99-$13. Collector items are worth more so you'll spend more.

My nephew introduced me to this shop a while back, and while it's a small drive from where I live,…read moreit's easily my #1 go-to place for everything Pokemon and general geek-grabbiness. I can only conclude that they applied for every scientific grant available to the public, as only a team of 12+ scientists armed to the teeth with quantum physics doctorates could come up with the tech requirements involved in microinjecting every atomic molecule in the place with geekgamosity, as this shop demonstrates it HAS, in fact, achieved for itself. Overinvolved descriptors and joking aside, there's nothing like a comic and collectible shop owned by people who have a true love for it all to go to. It's not uncommon for a newbie in a game/first time customer to feel a bit out of their depth, especially when a lot of gaming shops are prone to, um... having an 'elitist flavor' to them. But whether you're a young girl concerned over "common cultures" that can get in the way of the fun or an insecure guy who knows the difference between 'newbie' and 'n00b', leave those issues at the door here. The staff they have are just as friendly as they are knowledgeable, and even if a customer comes by with a super-obscure subject of geek-fun they haven't come across yet, they'll gladly spend time with that customer researching it to see if they can't fulfill your every oddball want and need (and perhaps most importantly, wont pretend they "know" to keep their uber-geek status intact... they seem to LIKE not knowing things and will ask YOU all about it to find out more). The owner is extremely hands-on, on-site more than most business owners and treats every customer like a valued regular, even if it's your first time there. In general, it has the best welcoming, all-inclusive gaming-community feel every shop in the field should have. I was glad to hear they'd opened their second space in the Eastfield Mall in Springfield, as spreading their brand of gaming-fun makes for fantastic influence. So big ups to you guys, and many thanks from a helluva-happy customer! Anyone who spent the time looking this up and finding my review, your search is over. Unlock achievement now and GO.
