Love coming here to browse the goods especially when I have something in mind that I refuse to pay full retail for. They do the usual pawn or sell, depending on if you want your item back. The store is jam packed with just about everything one could need and want, things are very neatly arranged but not necessarily easy to find. The staff is very helpful and very kind, always friendly and eager to wait on you. I have seen many instances where the customers are rude as hell and the ladies behind the counter remain calm cool and collected. Never a dull moment. On busy days parking can be tough, especially if wang's kitchen next door is busy with their customers. There's room around the back of the building of you can't park out in front. read more

DESERVED. Here's why. They're always nice about bargaining, often throwing out the first olive branch by taking a few bucks off the tag... So don't get too scared at some of the prices you see. But here's why Taki is exceptional... I bought an Armitron watch for a very reasonable $25 (then incidentally spent another $16 somewhere else getting a battery and a resizing)... and it turns out I didn't like it. Too big, uncomfortable to wear. Remarkably, Taki gave me $25 full credit originally paid towards the Armitron. I added $25 more dollars, and upgraded to a really nice Citizen that I actually do like, for $50. I mean, THAT'S class. I was 100% honest that it was my fault for making a careless purchase, and he honored my honesty by minimizing the blow to my wallet. As far as I'm concerned, I only wasted the $16 on the battery and the resizing... I guess I'm happy to give it back to Taki *with* a new battery in it, lol. Anyway, thank you. I was in the market for a kayak. Man are they expensive.! I had NO idea! So as folks do, I had been searching and searching. I used FB Marketplace, Walmart, Ocean State Job Lot, OfferUp and a few other sites. I noticed the Sundolphin Aruba 10' on OfferUp @ Silas Dean Pawn Shop. It was priced decently so I sent them a message. Sam from Silas Dean messaged me back to let me know the kayak was still available. I made arrangements to see it the very next day. Knowing it is kayak season I let Sam know that I understand if it got sold before I could come down to see it. Sam was nice enough to offer to message me if that happened so I didn't waste a trip . I got to the shop and was a little leary. You know how pawn shops are portrayed in the movies right? And I'm not the most street smart person . I gathered myself and went in. What a great place!!! Shop was clean and staff friendly! I saw my kayak right away up on a shelf. I asked for help getting it down to inspect it further. A great guy came right over to help me out. It was Sam! He got it to the ground so I could check it out. It looked great! That's when I had to ask about the price. As I said, it was priced ok, but could've been a bit better. Imagine my surprise, when I questioned Sam on the price he said "Oh No, we can go lower than that." The lower price put my kayak directly into my price range! I said " I'll take it!" Now, we just had to load it up. Sam wasn't sure I'd have room in my SUV for it. I knew I had enough room, I just had to clean stuff out. Sam waited patiently while I took, what seemed like forever, to clean out my car. Once that was done Sam helped me load it up and the kayak fit perfectly! I couldn't be happier!!! However, when I took it to get inspected by a Watchmaker, I was told it was missing two movement screws. In addition to that, there was writing with permanent marker on the case stating a repair of some sort. This only means one thing: that it was not in impeccable shape. In my opinion from what I went through I was being polite and nothing but rude staff , I try so hard to work with them but they will always look on eBay in the lowest priced items n Lowe ball you on top of that. I had a brand new pair of Louis Vuitton evidence sunglasses and they offered 75.00 dollars. BEWARE: My fiancé and I pawned a like-new $500 iPhone 5S at Silas Deane Pawn. We were given only $50 for it. We returned two days later to retrieve it. The screen is now SEPARATED from the body and *severely* chipped. An EMPLOYEE at the store clearly dropped it or damaged it in some other way because it was like-new when we dropped it off. Someone at the store ruined our phone. It looks like they were using it as a hockey puck. The damage is not just cosmetic either: The thumbnails are flickering and my photos are now flip-flopping back and forth at random. I have no idea how long it's going to remain even semi-usable. I got the phone out of the pawn to sell to a friend and now it's basically an expensive paper weight because an employee had butter fingers. It's shameful they didn't just come clean about damaging it when we picked it up (it was wrapped up when we retrieved it and we foolishly didn't open it up to inspect it because we trusted them). I repeat: It was in like-new condition. We are very careful with our electronics and the phone had never been dropped or treated roughly before we took it to Silas Deane Pawn. When we returned and paid the 300% interest rate fee to get the phone back it was SEVERELY DAMAGED and I cannot re-sell it. I strongly recommend that you go elsewhere to pawn your goods. Not only did the staff damage our device, they didn't know what the heck it was when we initially dropped it off! Nobody in the store knew what they were talking about or understood the difference between an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 5S when we brought it in to pawn it. Other than the horrible customer service and ruining our phone, the store is awful. It's small, dank, and they have a terrible selection of goods. The only things they appear to sell much of are weed-eaters, overpriced used CDs, overpriced Cabbage Patch dolls, a hilarious collection of mint in box N'Sync barbie dolls, and other random (overpriced) items. Take your business elsewhere if you need to pawn something- you won't get much for your item here and if you choose to buy it back it might return to you damaged with no explanation. Take your business elsewhere if you're looking for a good deal on anything. I have been buying tools from the Wethersfield and Manchester locations for a few years, today I stopped in to Vernon looking for a table saw because I was in the area. After waiting for Taki to stop bragging to another customer about what a great business man he is I finally was able to ask him if he had the rails for the table saw that I was looking at. He proceeds to try to educate me that "this is pawn shop, that's what you get" Really??? If you were such a great business man you would not have given a loan on a table saw missing the rails, no wonder the person pawning it didn't come back for it. He then tried to tell me that the rails weren't important. Really??? Taki you don't know what I do for a living, the saw is useless without the rails. I don't go to many pawn shops since I could probably get a better deal on eBay for most things, but decided just to drop in because of their funny commercials. But it really wasn't a fun place. Very small store with a huge backstock of tools and other really big equipment. I was afraid of moving around for fear of knocking stuff down and over like in the movies. Many stacks of soooo many items it was difficult to properly look at an item for condition. The only thing that looked in the remote area of the clean fun looking commercials were the glass display with many upscale items such as iPods and jewelry. Some nicely priced but most were waaay over their resale value. I'm talking mainly about the electronics displayed. I tried to haggle over an iPod that outdated by at least 3 versions but the owner wouldn't budge. I figured I could get the same here instore as eBay but without the long wait for shipping, but I was unsuccessful in convincing him. No matter, it didn't hurt to ask. My opinion is that people watch the pawn TVs shows and think that they are all the same. I'm one of them. read more

The slogan on the commericial is "Why do we pay so much!?!". WHAT A JOKE. I have a $600 laptop that was given to me as a gift, which I never used. I mean never as in, didn't even change the wallpaper or put any media or anything on it. I brought my laptop in, with charger cords, and I even printed out a list of the computer specifications, which also listed the current selling price being $600. I walked to the desk and a gramatically incorrect woman asked me "what I can do for you?". Nice greeting. I handed her my laptop and the paperwork I brought along with it. She didn't even take it out of my hand to look at it before telling me "you could keep that.". She turned it on, made a bunch of clicking noise with her 3" nails, and brought the laptop to a side room to ask another employee a question. She returned momentarily to tell me that she would be willing to offer me $150, I asked if she would consider $200 as the absolute lowest I would accept. She once again told me $150. I politely declined and thanked her for her time, she responded with a "Yup." and walked away. Leaving my laptop and charger on the desk, completely open and powered on. I gathered my things and left. Sold my laptop for parts individually and made $450. If the employees were smart, maybe they could actually make a profit. Awful. Cheap. Dirty. Save yourself the trouble and just sell your items online! read more
