The location has two massive stories of wall-to-wall geeky joy. Books, action figures, art, video gaming goodness; it's got it all. I appreciated how everything was very well organized (largely by pop culture features/brands). It was so well organized that I didn't need to actually ask for any directions or help finding stuff.

Prices are also pretty reasonable, especially on CDs which are sold as 2 for 1 on anything. However, actually finding something you'd like to buy is slightly more of a challenge, as there doesn't seem to have been much organisation other than tenuous genres. Is Alien a horror or a Sci-fi? Either way, it may be here for a very good price for all I know, but I couldn't afford to spend two hours looking... There's a... unique and possibly pleasant vibe about the place too, with whoever is working here watching a film or two on a portable DVD player while you browse around, meaning you often overhear familiar lines from old films while you search the shelves.

Still, if you're looking for that one special DVD/video game/music that you can't find anywhere else, try here before resorting to Amazon. As second hand shops go, HD2 does exactly what it says on the can: buys and sells second hand media. There's loads of stuff on offer here, although the mix is somewhat strange. I guess the DVDs and music that ends up in second hand shops isn't always the most popular, but I couldn't find one band I knew on a 5 minute browse! Still, you might find a buried treasure in here, and I do mean buried: everything is piled on top of each other in a rather hodge-podge manner, and the filing system can, at best, be described as 'lazy'. Still, as second hand shops go, the atmosphere is the place does bring to mind the hidden den of some new media afficionnado, unlike the sterile colours of places like Game. However, is atmosphere worth more than being able to find what you want? I find it hard to directly recommend HD2, as it's impossible to find anything, and the chance of them having the one thing you're looking for is pretty remote. If you fancy a browse, the filing system makes it a bit of a nightmare to find anything that might even interest you in the slightest! Still, the kooky charm here is quite pleasant: worth a short visit at least.

The deals on used games here are INSANELY good, especially for older stuff like Xbox 360 or PS3. I picked up so many games for great prices, like Halo Reach for £2.50, and FUEL for £3. While I was limited by the fact that the games I bought had to be US region compatible, as I live in the US and have a US Xbox 360, they still have a lot of great deals on those. If you're in the area and you love gaming you absolutely need to check out CeX! They also accept contactless pay which is really convenient and have a good selection of non-gaming things ranging from cheap dvds/blu-rays all the way to laptops and tablets. I typically come to the UK once or yay year and you can bet I'll be stopping by CeX at least once per trip if not more. It's impossible for me to overstate how awesome this store is for gamers and gaming enthusiasts, definitely recommend it to anyone in the gaming community.

And of course, that has direct repercussions on our household life. It means many hours walking by Games Workshop and Dark Sphere to pick up things for his army. It means many hours helping him paint tanks and aliens. It means bookshelves in our cramped apartment devoted to paints, men with little guns, and armored aliens. It means all of this to me. But of course so much more to my husband. With my husband's discovery of Dark Sphere, it means that he can now complete his army and get 25% off. Not only does that make him happy, that makes me happy too! Because that 25% in savings usually means treating me out to a nicely deserved weekly dinner for being a very tolerant wifey! Service here is knowledgeable and friendly, and it's easy to get into a long conversation about the item(s) you are buying and spend half an hour in there when you've only popped in for one thing. The range of games varies from time to time, so you can't always find something you've seen before, but ordering is usually possible. The shop is spacious and while items are not stacked in the most user-friendly way - a knack for reading sideways comes in handy - it means that a lot can be fitted in without making the shop feel cramped. Highly recommended whether you're a serious gamer or just looking for something to pass the time at a family get-together or children's party.
