I have been coming to GameOn, since its first open location in Miller Place, and even before its current address. GameOn is owned and founded by Tristan Whitworth, who has been giving people of all ages the opportunity to relive their childhood experiences, and/or create new ones. All of the games sold here, are authentic, thoroughly tested, and reviewed so you can always count on the video games being in the best possible condition. GameOn also offers more than just games but consoles, accessories, controllers, and more. One of the recent times I went in; Tristan showed me that he received a whole bunch of promo posters from Nintendo that were unopened. I pointed out that the Banjo Kazooie poster he had, had a beta version of the character Mumbo. (Meaning the poster was worth more!!) It was awesome to see and the fact that he showed me it when I came in at a random day and time was incredible! The prices at GameOn are very fair, and trade ins are always WAY better than Gamestop who will give you pennies. GameOn gives you great rates and even greater if you vouch for in store credit. For those of you reading this looking to relive the past, or discover old but new-to-you classics, or even find consoles, accessories and more; this place is for you. One thing I was very grateful for, was that my cousin, his friend and myself produced a video game that mimics the retro style of older 2D platformers: I.E: (Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Country, etc.) and Tristan allowed us to not only bring it in for him to try it, but allow his customers to try our game and test it. As if that wasn't enough, our game was free to download, with the option of donating and let's just say Tristan donated very generously! Speaking of generous, I also had an experience, where a few years back, I came in with a trade in, and a new employee gave me a pretty low deal which I accepted, but later went home feeling duped. I don't know how, as I didn't even tell Tristan, or write review, and he wasn't in the store that day, but he actually reached out to ME, and apologized that I was shorted, and that I could have an in store credit or the option to receive more money than I reluctantly agreed to. The in store credit was more than fair, and once again GameOn proved why I love it so much; and why I want to return in the future. I shouldn't have to say this; but an owner reaching out to a customer who was shorted, apologizing and giving them a store credit/offering them more money for the price they agreed to? That is unheard of and let me tell you I was blessed and very happy he reached out to me. Overall, what makes GameOn so great is its owner: Tristan. He is an energetic, passionate and kind person who always does right by you. Tristan has also hired some awesome and dedicated employees and they are always very knowledgeable and passionate about gaming like he is! GameOn does more than just sell games; they have hosted charity events, birthdays, gatherings and more. Something worth mentioning is that GameOn has grown from one location, to three, and now even has arcades open which I would urge you to check out! All in all, Tristan has created more than just a store for selling old games, but a living community that supports all who have an interest in gaming, and offers a selection of oldies but goodies, and everything in between. This store has the most ignorant, unprofessional people working for them. I called inquiring about games that I saw on facebook. The stupid guy that answered the phone hung up on me twice. This was my 1st time calling. I wasn't angry. I wasn't belligerent. I never raised my voice. I just called inquiring about particular games. I asked for the owner & he said that he was the owner. They. Have. Everything! Even though the store isn't large, I found myself in there for a long time. It was awesome! This store has a lot of hard to find items. He has numerous copies of each game and in different conditions. I can't contain myself inside the store. We didn't intend to buy stuff, but ended up spending $150 in there. We don't regret it AT ALL. Everything is fairly priced and in great working condition. He has a middle station where you can play older games from different consoles. Such a cute setup! I noticed that every time someone walked in they'd have a huge smile on their faces with twinkling wide eyes. It's amazing to see that people are just elated to see what's inside. Shocked and appalled by the behavior I experienced in this store with my son. I don't know much about the products. I am just the mom of two boys that love video games so thought it would be a good way to spend the afternoon with my son Kyle on his birthday coming to this store. It's right in my neighborhood! The embarrsing belittling that one male (mid to late 30s?) employee did to me in front of my son had me holding back tears as we got back into our car. I don't know about the products and their prices and how good or bad they are so I apologize about not being able to comment on that, but I wanted to just share this for any other moms out there who are thinking about coming here with their kid. read more

Was on Long Island to visit friends and stopped by this store because my son had just gotten a Nintendo 64 for his birthday and I wanted to see if they had some games maybe I could get him. Was immediately met by a rudeness. I asked a man working there if they had Nintendo 64 games and he said "you have two eyes" which I was actually taken back by. When speaking to the other worker there I actually found out that was the owner of the store, and the employee had choice words about him as well. Saying that it is not uncommon for him to treat people poorly. I ended up leaving empty-handed. I think anyone who treats customers like that doesn't deserve my business, but the prices were also astronomically high compared to other places. read more

I go here all the time and have building my collection since they opened. I am not sure how anyone can give a negative review on this place - I read the 1 star reviews and it seems like they either work for a competitor or are just unhappy with how the market and economics for used video games works in general. This store and it's owner are top notch. I visited the store this week and instantly was hit by a blast of nostalgia. I even found a pricey item but did not have the courage to pull the trigger that day. I followed their Instagram page and messaged the owner until about 12am in the morning about the item I was interested in. The next day I arrived and completed my purchase. So when i went to GameOn to trade in my Gamecube they said they would give me only 35$ yea no joke. The stupid thing is that they are selling Gamecube for 150$ which is too expensive it should only be at least 60-80$. And almost all of their games are double the price then what you could get on ebay or East End or TradingPost. Not to mentiom the fact that the gamecube games are overpriced. If you want to get into or back into gaming, this is a great first stop (especially for older systems). There are a mix of games for every budget and the frequently have deals posted on Facebook, giving you incentive to finally pick up that rare cartridge you've been on the hunt for. Between the owner and the employees, I've had pleasant experiences with all of them. Some stuff is a bit pricey for my blood, but given that they refurbish just about everything and run a brick and mortar, I found them to be very fair. There are some great arcade cabinets to play on site, as well as some classic systems running on CRTs. Great small place for all kinds of games & systems. Much better then GameStop especially with the excellent quality service you receive when you walk in there. Traded in a Pokemon yellow for another one cause the disk battery wasn't working well, gave them the old one & walked out with a working one no questions asked along with no problems at all. I genuinely love this place and have purchased several systems and games for them here (An atari 2000, a PS 2--needed to have my Baldurs Gate II--an original NES, etc.) They clean the games, refurb them, and if something doesn't work they've always issued a refund. Additionally, the new arcade at the Smiththaven mall is FANTASTIC. Very much like the experience of arcades I had growing up, minus having to lug around a lot of quarters. It's nice to see small businesses thrive in today's world when corporate juggernauts are trying to get rid of all "mom and pop shops". GameOn, is a store that specializes in retro gaming and small collectibles. The selection is amazing for most systems. If anything, the newer the console/hand held is, the less games they seem to have. So it does seem that retro is their theme. The man who waited on me while I bought Cave Story and Shinsen Tegami Demon Survivor was very friendly and helpful. You know this guy clearly has a passion for what he does and it shows in his business and how he talks. I see a ton of potential for this store and my only suggestion is that they host events (because there's really nowhere else to meet like-minded gamers not on the internet. Their prices are a little higher, but that will always be the case when "John's Department Store" is forced to go toe to toe with "Wal-Mart", when Game On steps up against GameStop, when David Battles Golliath. But as long as we continue to give our money to the Wal-Mart's and the GameStops, the Game Ons of the world won't last long. This is a nice store and I have been a long time customer. Very good selection of games and nice service. I've seen some people say negative things that I don't believe. There are discount days and even events. They will give you something back for a trade in and it will be good. They even put free items out for grabs once in a while. They have some arcade machines that you can play for free. And if you like that then they have an Arcade at the Smith Haven Mall. What a nice store! Small but superbly clean and well organized. The games themselves were individually wrapped in sleeves and overall very good copies in excellent condition. To top off the experience, the staff is incredibly nice/knowledgable and we got well above what we expected for trade-in value. Prices are high, especially among the highly sought-after games ($10-20 over what I would expect for some). Not sure what they are using to price their games. What an amazing store !!! The retro selection is like nothing else on Long Island. Tristen is a real businessman. Honest , fair , goes above and beyond for his customers. I have a disabled brother who calls him often just to chat about games and ask vague questions that are hard to answer. Tristen takes his calls and chats with him. What a good person. They store has so much cool stuff in it, and he makes these small TVs that you can buy to play your retro gaming system on, since many modern TVs it's hard to connect to. Terrible place to go if you are on the AUTISM SPECTRUM!!! My son used his money to purchase a refurbished game system. Long story short and many tears from my son it was not working correctly. After a fight by my husband they attempted to replace it with yet another faulty one. Then refused to give my son his money back!!! They claim to be a friend to the autism community. Stay away!!! First of all I want to say the owner Tristan and the entire staff is great! They are friendly and helpful. The store has a lot of inventory and a good retro selection as well, the things that prevent me from giving it 5 stars are first the prices which are a little too high on some items. I mean there is not even ps2 games that are $5.00, the cheapest is 6.99 I mean really?? Some of these games are 4.99 or less. The only other thing is there are lot of little kids sometimes and the store can feel like a playground at times, these complaints are minor but I would still recommend this store read more

This is a video game store you need to see if you live on the Island. You should even come see it if you don't live here. Outstanding customer service as the staff are knowledgeable, helpful, and above all friendly. As I awaited marching in the St Pattys Day, I stopped in to see the selections and was greeted warmly. This is the 1st of 2 stores they have on Long Island. Both are well stocked and they have quality clean games. The guy who worked there is pretty sure he's an owner or THE owner is cool. They disrespectfully offered me 1/4 for my games AND systems than what other stores offered me even though they sell eveything for about the same price and at times even more than others.
