READ THIS BEFORE SELLING YOUR COLLECTION To HERO COMICS & CARDS!…read more I walk in and the owner shows me this incredible card collection he just bought from someone and starts bragging how he already sold a card for $2000. Mind you, he had no idea how to identify some of these cards. I've been in this hobby for 10+ years and I was more than happy to show him everything I know on about how to identify a card. One of the cards I helped him identify was worth $900-1300 conservatively and in NM condition. When he found out how much this card was worth he told me he didn't even factor this card into the value of the collection when he paid for the collection. He said that he thought this particular card wasn't real or was tacky. If you do not know how to evaluate certain cards don't accept them but instead do the right thing and guide your customers to a place that can evaluate a collection appropriately. This should be common sense for someone who has been in the industry as long as you have been. When the owner realized how much the card was worth he didn't seem too concerned about ripping the person off at all! Instead he said "sometimes not knowing what a collection is worth can truly payoff," then he laughed. I really tried to have a good conversation with this man but deep down my intuition was screaming that this person was lost in Greed. There was one card I wanted to buy and he wasn't even willing to sell the card for fair market value even though I helped him identify these cards. All of a sudden somehow he became the expert and was suggesting that these cards were worth more than they actually were. He kept referencing TCG player prices but he knows nothing about how this market works and pretends he does! He didn't even know how to look up these cards on TCGplayer until I showed him. The prices you find on TCGplayer are oftentimes above market value and you can almost always find them cheaper on eBay! Don't deal in a market you're clearly not informed enough to deal in. Be ethical and guide people in the right direction rather than try and fill your own pockets. It's just really sad businesses like Hero Comics exist. I feel for the customer who didn't get the value for their collection that they truly deserved. If you are looking to sell a collection get a quote from multiple card shops before actually selling your cards. If you find out your cards are worth a pretty penny reach out to an online auction that pays 90% of a cards value! Their are plenty of local card shops that know what they're doing and won't accept cards that they are not experts in. Many of these shops are fully transparent with you about the cards you have and can guide you into the right direction. And to Hero Comics, no one is perfect, do the right thing, actually reach out to the person, and be fully transparent with them on what the cards are worth and what they sell for. Give them at least a 70% commission which is industry standard for most card-shops. Take accountability, learn, and grow. I'm confident you will.

Best Comic Shop in The Area! I've been going to Rogue Comics…read moresince its initial opening in 2010, and I must say, the place is like fine wine- It gets better with age! The owner Mike is one of the most pleasant people to talk to and his seemingly endless knowledge of comic books and generally nerdy things is rather refreshing. You can tell he loves what he does and puts care into making sure every customer he serves ends up enjoying their visit. Want a certain comic book or piece of paraphernalia that is unavailable at the moment? Mike will offer to order it for you. He is helpful to people of all ages and doesn't get enough credit for the work that he does. I truly hope that Rogue Comics stays open and thrives in its business for years to come.

But as I said, it's a lot neater. They had a good sale today too. There was a 40% off sale going on. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything. They didn't have as many books as Bridgeport did, but they did have a lot more CDs. CDs were selling for a dollar with 40% off. So, you figure a CD was would be $0.60? It wasn't very busy so getting out had I found anything would have been really quick. They have somebody ready to check people out of the bookstore. Maybe next time I come I'll find something whenever that will be.

Nice selection of books here. Came her a few times a couple years back when I was looking for…read moreissues to fill runs. They were super friendly and helpful in person and on the phone. I ended up not needing 2 books I had them dig for for me and they were super polite about putting them back (some comic shops have made rude comments when asking about stuff and choosing not to buy something last minute). I ended up coming back 2 weeks later and bought out the rest of the books that I originally did not want, as well as got some older books as well. Condition here is good. Its super clean and organized too. Wish we had a shop this big near me. Also, comic hunters, they have bins, FOR DAYS!

It's spacious, clean, and pretty well run. Comics: There's the weekly releases, then a few dollar bins, and dollar bins are always excited. There's a couple of bookshelves of graphic novels/TPBs/HCs as well. I wish that shelf had some used/marked down stuff, but whaddya gonna do. The store also has a small but well curated array of toys/video games/statues. Nothing I needed but always fun to look at. They also do some Magic and Pokemones card stuff. Not for me, but if it helps pay the bills, so be it. The employee was pleasant to interact with, I didn't catch his name but he was aight.

But the central location is convenient, and offers a great selection of design, gardening, fashion, photography, and art books. Will you find the super rare or esoteric here? Probably not. But if you enjoy a good general browse, you will not be disappointed in the array of new releases, classic fiction, etc. While I absolutely prefer and rely on independent book sellers who are genuine cognoscenti, I don't expect that from the employees of a big chain. In all my visits to the store I have always been treated well. You do not get the kind of kid-glove or deeply informed assistance you might at The Strand, Rizzoli, Argosy, Three Lives & Company, etc. True, but B & N is convenient to us suburbanites. As long as you accept the baseline that you will find mostly mainstream publication products here, you won't be disappointed. As to value, the pricing is typical. But even at specialty and rare shops today it is difficult to find a bargain, everyone seems to use the internet to ascertain book values and prices. We stop in B & N frequently.
