We knew we wanted to remove any truly risky trees, but we also didn't want to make decisions based on fear or our own inexperience. So we scheduled a tree risk assessment consultation with Nathan Berner, owner of Calaveras Tree Care...and I honestly can't say enough good things about the experience. He was incredibly thorough, patient with all of our questions, and took the time to explain exactly what he looks for when assessing tree health and risk. Instead of telling us what to cut down, he helped us understand how to weigh risk, tree health, location, and long-term safety when trying to determine if any action should be taken. The biggest thing we walked away with was peace of mind...along with confidence that we can make thoughtful, informed decisions moving forward. If you have mountain property or have been feeling anxious after the storms, I highly recommend contacting Nathan to have a professional assessment done. It was worth every penny!

I've now worked with Nate twice regarding the numerous hundred year old trees on my property. Most recently he helped me determine a plan to save two of my largest trees from pest damage (not bark beetle thank goodness) and even called the tree service company who would be doing the tree topping work to explain my situation and get them to expedite the timing so as to save my trees. This is above and beyond service in my opinion. Nate does extremely thorough and thoughtful examinations, and does a great job explaining the situation and options in a way a non-arborist can understand. Beyond that, it is clear that he really cares deeply about getting and keeping trees healthy. It was a pleasure to work with him and I highly recommend him to others.

Five Stars for Arias Trees!…read more When I arrived at our pine mountain lake cabin, I was surprised to find a large branch had fallen and significantly blocked the driveway. I reached out to Arias Trees for help, and they responded right away. Even though I had sent photos, the owner took the time to drive out and personally assess the job. Once on site, he realized the immediate task was smaller than expected--but he also noticed several other trees that needed attention. He struck me as honest and knowledgeable, so I decided to hire him for a larger job: trimming multiple trees to keep the property safe and well-maintained, and hopefully prevent future branch drops. He returned the very next day with a small crew, and they got right to work. The team was skilled, professional, and even enjoyable to watch. Working with him was easy, and Monica in the office was fantastic--great with communication and helping me arrange payment smoothly. Bottom line: I highly recommend Arias Trees for anyone needing trustworthy, quality tree work. They're responsive, fair, and just plain good at what they do.

They grew to a height of over 40 feet and were starting to decay. I should have dealt with this earlier. I called several tree services and three came, gave me a bid only to walk off the job because the trees were rotting and more than half had hollow trunks. Tony from Acampo showed up, gave me a very competitive bid, showed up to do the work on time and then walked off the job due to trees being too dangerous. But unlike the other companies, he offered me the only other option; to hire a crane, do traffic control (because the only place the crane could work from would be on the busy road next to our house). Of course it was a lot more expensive but what choice did I have? So I accepted and after taking care of the permit for traffic control, reserving the crane and getting the crew together, Tony stated work on time, 30 days later. I was there when the crew showed up; I told my wife that these guys were obviously confident, professional and they all knew their jobs and acted like a well-oiled machine. Everything went according to plan. They started at 6:30 am and soon the crane was lifting sections of trees that were as big as a bus and weighed over a ton carefully over my other trees and fence to the road surface where some of the crew cut it into sections that were fed into the chipper. 4 hours later the clean up was underway. It was a dangerous project. Tony complied quickly when I asked that me and my property be named as an additional insureds on the Acampo Insurance policy and when I asked for confirmation that the crane operator was insured and that all of the crew were covered by worker's compensation insurance. When it was over, I breathed a sigh of relief. The job was handled professionally, no one was hurt and my property was not damaged. Tony had warned me that due the deterioration of the trees, several things could go wrong but his crew was on its toes the whole time and everything was handled well. I have already asked Tony to give me a bid to reduce several other trees on the lot before they reach the same level of deterioration. From the beginning he treated me fairly and I am confident that he will do so again. Based on my experience, I am heartily recommending Acampo to anyone who needs expert tree service regardless of how big or small the job is. Nelson Barry San Francisco June 21, 2023

In January 2023 we had 3 large trees go down in all the storms. We had Acampo out and they quoted…read moreus over $100,000 to remove 3 trees. That's not a typo. Over $100,000. We got quotes from a few other companies and ended up getting all the trees removed for around $20,000 (still a ton of money). I'm well aware of the reality of 'surge pricing' but this is just inexcusable, and it makes me question the ethics of the company. Please beware of price gouging, especially during/after storms, and get several bids.
