Galt did a great job of moving my stuff into storage, as well as my new house! The movers were professional, funny, and quick. Considering that I didn't pack some of my stuff very well, I was expecting a lot more damage coming out storage, and absolutely nothing is damaged. I'm amazed. Also for a second time in a row, the bid was actually lower than originally estimated, so there were no hidden fees and the estimate was honest, which I've heard from others is rare. These guys did a fantastic job twice and I would recommend them without reservation! Unprofessional, careless, poor customer service. Unfortunately we did not purchase the extra expense of their insurance. After seeing all their good reviews I didn't think it was necessary to add that expense. Now I'm actually questioning the validity of all those glowing reviews. We ended up with several damaged (scratched) pieces of furniture and damaged walls from their carelessness. They literally stacked heavy pieces of furniture on top of one another with shrink wrap the only protection. A quilted moving blanket may have been a good idea! At the end of the day I brought the damage to the attention to the crew leader which was laughable. He acted clueless and actually had the nerve to ask for a gratuity for him and his crew. I spoke with the owner about the damage and he was very rude and offered a ridiculously low amount to repair the furniture after telling me we should have purchased the extra insurance. This move was several months ago. I was actually afraid of repercussions so waited on the review. I would not recommend Galt moving. read more

February 2011, I was disappointed with Galt Moving, primarily due to their very inaccurate estimated hours quoted. The most significant problem was the 13.5 hours versus the 8.0 hours estimated. We did not change any aspect of the move and I had previously moved all of the electronics and computers, as promised. There were two minor problems. The first was the broken round Ethan Allen accent table. This breakage was an honest mistake and was not the result of carelessness. The second minor problem was in the garage, where one of the movers attempted to remove a shelf unit, while it was still attached to the wall. I had instructed the team that we would not take the two shelf units in the garage. I was disappointed that no one mentioned that damage that was done when the shelf unit was ripped from the wall. I noticed it on Monday, when I returned to the old house. I repaired the damage myself. I want to compliment Larry on his work ethic and his attention to detail. I felt that he was trying to keep the other four (4) movers engaged and would frequently ask them to help with the heavier items. Larry and Dave did such a great job moving my things this past weekend (July 08). They worked very well together in moving, wrapping/protecting furniture and then unloading everything into my new apartment. They worked very quickly, efficiently and were very courteous in asking where I wanted my things placed. There was zero damage and the final cost was lower than the estimate. I went with Galt Moving because out of all the moving companies, they took time to call me instead of going back and forth in 20 different emails. I thought it added a personal touch. The two phone calls I received on the day of the move regarding ETA were nice, too. I got a call about 3.5 hours before the movers actually showed up, saying the morning job was running late. The move out of my apartment was fine. Three movers came and they seemed pretty motivated to get going. The majority of the issues came after that. Before leaving my old apartment, I confirmed my address with the lead mover, Brad. I watched him write it down on the paperwork (the office didn't even have an address close to where I was going down). He input it into his Google maps on his phone and I confirmed that was the route to take to my new place. I also tried giving him tips on the route (a mile away), but he said he'd just follow me. So I get to my car, I wait for them to start the truck and they follow me out of the parking lot. I went right at the light .25 miles down the road... And they went left. I immediately call to tell them they're going the wrong way. No answer. I get to the next stop light and call again. No answer. I get to my apartment. I call the office - no answer. I call the moving guys again - I think you can see where this is going. I finally text him - "where are you going? My place is the other way." 5 minutes later I get a call - they went the wrong way and navigation took them to an intersection a half mile down the street from my new place. I ask if they put my address into navigation - and Brad lost his shit, so to speak. Keep in mind - I watched the majority of my personal items drive away into the night. The guys and the office are MIA. I am fairly stressed out as it is. They've had a long day moving. However, there was absolutely zero need to repeatedly yell at me or demand I come and get them at a random intersection. They couldn't follow me out of the parking lot! Brad claimed the navigation took them down the street from my new place, which was a bold faced lie. The navigation works just fine - four separate people arriving different days and through different means plus myself made it to the apartment since I moved in on navigation alone and not one single person has gotten lost except Galt Moving. Half a hour after they left my old place, they showed up and moved my stuff into my new place. However, now I will have to file a damage claim on brand new furniture, which may end up being negligible, as they only pay out $.60 on the pound and not the actual value. Side note: this review would have maybe been a little higher, however, the owner was left a voicemail shortly after Brad lost his shit and he never called me back. Two business days were given to make it right. For a family owned business, you think they'd care about their customers and future business. This company is a joke and for a family company has no family values. My move was problematic from the beginning, they were late, forgot mattress bags for protection and did damage to my home I was moving out of. They damaged many of my items during the move. Two days after moving into my new home I had a very close family member pass away and I had to leave immediately and travel. I was out of town for two weeks to handle the death. When I got home and unpacked I submitted 2 claims for damage done. As I continued to unpack I reported damage as I u packed but shame on my for not reading the fine print on the back of the paperwork. If you don't report damage with 30 days they will not accept it. I was a week late and they refused the repair additional damage. Family company with family values..... I think not, they were not helpful at all in a time of family tragedy. I even send them the messages from the funeral home and volunteered their contact information. Now if you really want a joke, they repair man they hired to come out, it took 3 to 4 weeks to get them out, they did not return calls, said they didn't get messages so they did not call back. When I finally was able to get a date confirmed to do repairs, he was 45 minutes late and looked like he was out partying all night. He could not find my hone and I had to spend 10 + minutes on the phone guiding him to my home. When he arrived, after he used the port a potty across the street he just walked in my home. Didn't even knock! The only words out of his mouth were I don't have enough time to fix this! He went back out to his car and was on the phone for 15 to 20 mins and finally came back in. Said he could only fix a few things and he did a 1/2 ass job at that. The scratches and damage it looks like he took a magic marker and colored the scratch to try and match the color. He did not request a signature or approval for his "repair" job and left. Galt movers was not helpful in anyway and should be embarrassed to have representation like this. I do not recommend them at all. If they were professional, there wouldn't have been any damage to begin with. Shane on you Galt movers! I gave this company two stars only because of the actual movers, who were awesome, they get the 2 stars and the management gets none. I had issues with them being late, and not quoting me a correct rate even though they said they did, and when i questioned it there was nothing i could do because i signed the move agreement. All in all, the movers were awesome but the management of the company is awful, and ended up yelling at me when i questioned them in a he said/she said battle! I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone because the management was terrible to deal with. And on top of everything i dealt with, they don't take credit cards! read more

I cringe at the thought of hiring movers -- I've heard so many horror stories. The Galt Moving team was professional from start to finish, trustworthy and a good value. I arranged for a move from our small Denver starter home to a bigger suburban home for our growing family. The team took great care of our stuff by wrapping all our furniture (dressers, nightstands) and laid down pads and rugs on the floors. While unpacking I noticed a few broken glasses from our kitchen boxes, but that's as to be expected, I suppose. Estimate was pretty right on, no hidden extra costs. read more

I had this company pack and move my 2 bedroom apartment in Lone Tree three miles to a home in Highlands Ranch. None of my paintings nor framed photographs were wrapped or put in cardboard as I was told by the guy doing the quote. My furniture was only wrapped in saran wrap and none wrapped with quilts. Wardrobe boxes were not taken away as promised. Over the upcoming weeks while unpacking and settling in, I began to notice a lot of scratches on my furniture and scarring on some of my leather furniture. The brown paper on the back of my paintings were torn. One mover, Mike I believe, had a rude personality. He also dropped several boxes/items. Fortunately nothing fragile, but he was very careless. I was their first job of the day and they were all in a hurry to get done and move to their next job (It was a Saturday). I overhead Mike make several comments about getting done as fast as possible. I won't blame anyone but myself, but I don't move often and those who have moved a whole house, understand how busy you become and it is easy not to notice everything being done/not done during the move. As a consumer, you expect a moving company provide a professional service at the level of quality they promise. Their pricing was no better than any other movers. All in all, I would not use Galt moving again. I certainly should have called the management during the move itself asking for Mike to be taken off my job. read more

I used Galt Moving because I had used them once before and had a good experience. This time around I would have to agree with several of the other negative reviews that I ignored before. The movers themselves were great...dealing with the management was a nightmare. It started with the fact that the quote was for 6 movers and 2 trucks and they showed up with 5 movers. Then, before they even started they were telling us that the cost of the move was going to go way over because we had told them that there would be no boxes to move. They even sent a threatening email that said "Please be advised that due to a change in the actual vs estimated inventory, your estimate has became a "default estimate" outlined on the Pre Move Advisement as well as the contract. According to the information provided at the time of the in home estimate, Galt Moving was to be moving large items only (no boxes). According to the crew leader, there are between 100-150 boxes. With this significant change in inventory, your move may end up costing more than expected." Since I was the one who did the in home estimate with Mike, I knew that I never said anything about no boxes. So I called and insisted that I never said anything about no boxes and he kept insisting that I did because it was on the paperwork. Then he proceeded to threaten to pull the crew off the job because I was upset that: 1. They showed up with 5 guys instead of 6. 2. They insisted that I said no boxes were to be moved. 3. Before they even started loading the truck they were telling us that it was going to go over and that they had sent an email saying that it was now a "default estimate." Since Mike kept insisting that "the estimate said..." I finally turned on my computer and looked at the estimate. Turns out that he was wrong and the estimate said 80 boxes. Did he apologize right away? No, his first response was "well the crew leader says there are 100-150 boxes. When I pointed out to him that I didn't tell him how many boxes but that HE was the one who estimated the boxes he did let that drop. He handled the situation horribly and immediately resorted to threats when I challenged his memory of the in home estimate and took exception with being threatened with an overage before they even started. But that is just one of the reasons I would not recommend or use them again. The second reason is that their estimate was WAY off. This was a big move that required 6 guys and 2 trucks. It was not cheap...but his estimate was off by 44%! But the third reason is, even with all of that I never would have written a review if there had been any follow up after the fact. People make mistakes and if they just apologize and say they are sorry, that can go a long way. I even reached out to them with an email and they ignored it. They made a mistake in their paperwork, did a horrible job of estimating, but still treated me like I had done something wrong. I do wish that I had paid attention to the other one star reviews. read more

I used Galt to move into a new place last week. The move went fine, except that the movers caught some wrapping on the railing down the stairs. The workers immediately contacted the manager, who claimed that everything would be taken care of -- so I assumed everything would be fine -- however, it took me threatening a law suit to get them to cover the damages that that their workers caused (and I can only hope that the sum we agreed upon will cover it). Moving furniture is one thing, but stepping up when something goes wrong is the sign of a good company. This company failed. read more

Scum of the earth. On Monday, Mike from Galt told us that they could move us on Friday. Today (Wed), we hadn't gotten the confirmation yet, so I called to ask if I could get the quote and if we were still on for Friday. Mike answered and said "I'm not in the office, I'm not sure about Friday". I told him it was too late for us to book anyone else for Friday and he said "Well sir, maybe you shouldn't do business with us". F' them. We now have to move ourselves, not something we were looking forward to, but if you use Galt, you get what you deserve. Cesspool company. read more

Absolutely AMAZING service! These guys were hard working, polite and everything else I could have wanted. Marcus, Rick and Javier moved my mother-in-law to a third story apartment in three hours and I would hire them again without a doubt. Javier even brushed the snow off of her car. I would feel comfortable with any of these men in my home even without being present. They were clean and very professional. They wrapped and padded all furniture and breakables. Nothing was damaged and they were quick and efficient! You can't beat their prices either! Absolutely NO extra charges, they are the real deal! In the last four years we have made four major moves and GALT Moving has been by far the very best moving company we have worked with. They have been the only company that sent a person out to look at our things and the estimate made was spot on. The size of truck needed, the amount of time to do the move and the number of movers needed was perfect. Our estimator was professional as were all of the movers. We didn't have a thing scratched or damaged. All items were wrapped and taken care of as if the items were theirs. Michael was very polite and professional on the phone with me when i called him about an emergency last minute move. He told me he would see if he couldnt come up with a crew last minute no promises. He was able to secure me a crew of two strong men to move my one bedroom apartment at last minutes notice(i recommend giving notice as i will in the future). Two men showed up at my apartment promptly at the requested time. His men moved quickly and efficiently without sacrificing the gentle care many of my valuable require in handeling. The moving truck was well equipped and in like new condition. The movers were very professional and took the time in shrink wrapping and protecting any breakables. This was the first move ive had where nothing was broken! I would not hesitate to recomend Galt moving to any of my closest friends or loved ones. read more

While the gentlemen who moved us were good, they did damage a railing in our house. When Mike came to repair it, he said we could not prove that they did it. 3/4/2012 Edit » Gone Galt? The "service" this company provides is a direct result of the lack of regulation in the industry as a whole: uncaring, unprofessional, disorganized and dishonest. We were supposed to have a total of 4 movers, along with the moving truck itself. The fourth man was the team leader and a supposed partial owner of the company. He was also rude and confrontational towards myself and my fiance, which makes me wonder if he's simply somebody's son who is taking liberty with titles. Either way, he was unprofessional and incapable of leading his crew. The three movers we actually had were overwhelmed with the job. They complained repeatedly, because the job was too big for three men and as the day wore on, their fatigue caused them to start dropping boxes, which in turn, caused them to carry a single item at a time. The job was supposed to take 5 to 6 hours. It ended up taking much longer, and, ultimately, the police were called to settle a dispute that arose between myself and the "owner". The company threatened to take my things that remained in the moving truck, some of which were medically required by my fiance. What a nightmare! Stay away from this company, there are plenty of alternatives, even if those alternatives cost more; avoiding this company will actually save you money in the long-run. read more

Galt Moving did such a good job moving me the first time that I have used them again and yet again! First they partially moved me out of a storage unit into a row house. Then, they moved me from the row house to a new home and the rest of things out of the storage unit to the new home. Several different crews did the work. Everyone was friendly and professional. They always showed up and did the work as promised and cost me less than anticipated based on the estimate. I HIGHLY recommend them. read more

We selected Galt on the recommendation of a friend. Our experience could not have been more different than his. To start off, they showed up 90 minutes late. Then we had issues with them smoking while moving our furniture, even after we requested they not do so. We also had issues with broken furniture - which happens. What really bothered me about the broken items, however, is that they tried to cover one of the issues up by using packing tape! They tried to hide the damage, which only ticked me off more when I discovered it. Finally, they were difficult to work with when it came to getting reimbursement for the damages. Mike at Galt was very short with us and took over a month to pay us. The settlement was a fraction of what the value of the damaged furniture was worth. I am just too tired of dealing with them to pursue a more equitable settlment. Go someplace else for your moving company! read more

I used Galt Moving the first time in 2011. The movers did a great job and were so patient with me! They even helped me move my huge oak bedroom furniture around as I tried to decide how to arrange it! They wrapped all my furniture in shrink wrap to protect it and I sustained no damage. The second time was this year 2013. Again, they treated me well and were careful with my furniture and belongings. They finished faster than projected, which saved me some money. I was so pleased with their work that I've referred them to friends, who have been just as pleased with their services. There are no hidden fees like other movers surprise you with. Our experience with Galt was not a good one. They were contracted to do a good portion of the packing, as well as moving our belongings into storage for a month and then moving them to our new home in Alamosa (from Littleton). The packing and load-out went well, they sent a great team out and we were happy with the results, but that's where our happiness ended. The owner of this company provides some or the worst "customer service" I've ever experienced. So, if you're looking to be blamed (by the owner) for any mistakes and/or issues caused by the company - Galt is the mover for you! For us, that part of the customer experience started at the end of load-out and continued until they left us "high and dry" when we needed to complete the move to our new home. Our experience included: Mishandled / incorrect billing at the end of load-out day, that was blamed on me. No information provided to me that Galt had kept the keys to my storage units, instead of leaving them at the front desk. I found out about this less than a week before the move to Alamosa (3 weeks from when it happened). Again, the fact this was the case was blamed on me. When I did receive the keys for the units (on the day of the second move) - one of them was broken and couldn't be used, so lock had to be sawed off (at my expense). Galt took ZERO responsibility for this. No pre-planning by Galt to ensure the trucks needed for my move to Alamosa were available when required. Less than a week before the scheduled move I was informed there were no trucks available, this despite Galt knowing for over a month when the move was required. So, about 3 days before I needed the second move to happen I was left to try to re-schedule it with someone else. I was lucky to call Road Scholars and get the move planned - the customer service I experienced from them was the complete opposite of what we received from Galt. Their price for the same move was about $2000 LOWER as well! Anyway, my advice is to NOT expect too much customer service if you decide to use Galt. There's only one star because the site wouldn't let me select zero stars. This was a horrible moving experience with an uncaring staff and crew...unless you count how much they care about getting paid for poor quality work. This move cost me much more than I expected and much more than they estimated. I was scheduled and rescheduled - waiting a day and a half for them to show up. Once they finally made it, their 4-man crew was 3 guys and a stand-around guy who folded a couple of blankets and wandered around doing nothing. They loaded the truck half way to justify 2 trips and twice the time (at a very high hourly rate). The second trip included a 2-hour lunch...time that they billed me for. In the end, their bill included not only their long lunch but another half an hour they were never there at all. They threatened that if I didn't pay up, "there would be issues!" They refused to correct my bill to reflect their accurate time and told me there was nothing I could do about it. This was an awful experience with an unethical, uncaring company. They advertise "no extra fees," but that's not true- they just charge theirs by padding their time. Larry, George and James did an excellent job on my move today. They were exceptionally courteous, professional, and above all- hard working. Though the hourly rate was very slightly higher than other places I called, I actually saved money because 1) they did not charge for drive time to and from my start and end destinations- which was important because I was moving from Evergreen 2) they had no surcharges or fees for plastic wrapping, fuel, etc... and 3) they were so efficient that they were below the estimated time. Additionally, they were careful with my items and did not break or scratch anything. I am very impressed with their work ethic. My neighbor watched them moving me, and hired them for her upcoming move- based upon watching their hard work. I will be hiring them again and will continue to support local businesses. We recently used Galt moving for our local move and we were very impressed from start to finish! Their customer service is fantastic, they really do go above and beyond. The woman I spoke with when I initially called to get a quote was so nice and friendly, and helped me with every thing I needed to schedule the move. The movers were on time and did a fantastic job moving all of our stuff. They were very professional and polite. The move took longer than expected, thus costing more than the initial, quote, but it was totally MY ERROR. I underestimated how much stuff we had to move in our basement and crawl space, so it was not their fault at at all. There was only one damaged item in the whole move and it was a mirror in a wood frame. I called to find out how to file a claim and I was expecting that they would say sorry, we don't cover mirrors. But I was so wrong, they were awesome! They had me drop off the frame at a custom glass shop and they paid to have a mirror custom cut and installed at no charge to me. It was ready in 2 days and looked perfect ! I was so impressed and couldn't believe they did that. I would highly recommend Galt Moving and give them 5 stars!!! read more

I moved to Colorado in July of 2015 and used Galt. They Did A Great job. So I hired then again in July of 2016. I'd recommend these guys.

Let me say first, that I have never written a review on anyone for anything but I simply cannot let anyone else waste their money on this company. The movers arrived and the first thing they said was "this is a tipping business." Fine, I am happy to tip should it be deserved. They then proceeded to move as slowly as I have ever seen humans, let alone movers, move. No surprise we were paying by the hour. The van, which we were assured would be big enough to move our whole house did not fit half of our stuff. We booked 7 hours which should have been enough to have them do two trips but they moved so slowly that it actually took them from 9:45 until 6:00PM with one 45 minute break. Of course we were charged for the extra hours. At one point both my husband and I were out and my son said they literally stopped moving anything while we were gone. i got home to find the three of them hovered around a filing cabinet and when they saw me they said "this needs to be emptied before we can move it downstairs," to which I said fine and they were still standing there messing with it when I came back 5 minutes later instead of moving the rest of the stuff on the truck. In addition, with literally every piece of heavy furniture there was a howling and grunting like you have never heard. I thought at one point the guy had thrown his back out or something. It was as if we were asking them to do herculean work rather than their every day job. Truly, this was a disgusting display of "service." Pay the extra and get professional movers. read more
