I move. A LOT. Sure the boxes and packing and unpacking and putting together are a hassle. But the worst part of moving: finding a new hair dresser. Amiright? Usually just as I find someone I'm comfortable with, it's time to move again. Thankfully I found a salon home within a few months of moving to Rochester last year. My fine, orange-should-be-blonde hair (thanks to a "high end" salon in DC) needed some life support. I'd narrowed it down to 2 salons and stylists, but the Gallery website provided more information to make a decision. Enter Nikki, or for Instagram fans: nikkirunswithscissors. Seriously-- check out her work, this gal knows her stuff! I've been a client since last fall, and have the best hair color and cut(s) in years. Bonus points for her sweet personality and never pressuring you to buy the products that she uses. Apparently everyone knows she rocks because she typically books months out. Hop on the waitlist if you're trying to get in sooner! The salon itself is well designed. Lots to look at! Oh, and wine is a beverage option while you process... :)

love love LOVED the hair cut i got here :) my stylist knew exactly what i wanted when i couldnt articulate the haircut i was trying to obtain. she also did a wonderful job with the color and i will definitely be going back!! 10/10 would definitely recommend - especially for queer people! the haircuts are not gender specific which made me feel very welcomed and the entrance to the salon is incredible. they have local art everywhere and its such a safe and comfortable place to be in. havent had such a great experience at a salon before :)

Gallery Salon did an amazing job with my hair! I wanted something different and Melissa Tausch did wonders!!! I have never been this adventurous with my hair but I'm so excited I did! The colors are so vibrant and the cut really works well with my face. Even though it took forever to do I could not be happier with the results! Anyone in the Rochester area need hair done please go to gallery salon and ask for Melissa...she will do you right!

Skip your old salon and come here. Seriously, I mean it. As a girl who's only gotten her nails done twice, well now three times. This is the place to go! I came today and did a wedding nail trial and from the girl who answered the phone to Bethany who did my nails. I was not disappointed. Bethany is a gem! She made me feel at ease and helped me figure out designs and stamps. The girl who was sitting next to her was nice as well. Bethany just let me try stamps to see to see if it would work and if it didn't we went a different route. P.s. Even though my nails are short she didn't even mention putting on fake nails. She swooped the gel on like it was nothing. Ladies treat yo self and come here!!!

Love this place. I finally made the switch to a new stylist after a lot of grumbles on my end (I'm very particular about my hair... New stylists make me nervous... Perhaps it's PTSD from that one time a new hairdresser gave me bangs and I looked like Garth from Wayne's World for 6 months...). Anyway, I made an appt to see Amy Pink and she is one hell of a rockstar. She is so speedy and thorough with her highlighting. She knows what she's doing and will offer relevant suggestions to help you look your best. Let's be real, she's the pro here so I followed her advice. And it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. I still get an amazing style without breaking the bank. The salon itself is adorable, very spacious since they moved to Elton St. It's like a mini-gallery (hah, get it) with the art and decor lining the exposed brick walls. You'll feel right at home here -- everyone is chit chatting with each other and having a good time. I could have spent the day there. They might even give you a glass of wine too -- then the fun really begins. That's my ultimate relaxation time. I want to enjoy a haircut -- you feel refreshed and renewed after so you might as well have a fun time while you get there and this is the salon to go to for that experience.

Beautiful little salon with a rotating "gallery" of local artisan made goodies. Jewelry, patches, stickers, framed photography, tshirts.... and the decor is vintage hair styling tools. Rustic, industrial, classy and clean. Complimentary wine, coffee, tea...in real glasses and mugs. Not disposables. Friendly staff, greeted with a smile and genuine friendliness.

I am a regular here at Gallery - these salon peeps are amazing. Everyone is always friendly and accommodating and it's obvious they love where they work. Gallery recently moved from University to Elton (a side street right around the corner). It is so beautiful - big - bright and spacious!! They have makeup jewelry and hair products for sale - plenty of room to get your nails done - as well as waxing, hair and relaxation space in the rear. They also feature new artists every few months and display their artwork on the walls!! I wouldn't dream of getting my hair done anywhere else. Erika is amazing but so are all the other stylists!

Great, simple mani-pedi. It lasted with no chips through a trip to Puerto Rico! Fair color selection. Great atmosphere. Will go again.

The tech struggled to match a simple beige, first suggesting white, then purple? I eventually searched myself, after receiving no clear direction to the gel colors on the wall. One tech commented I took a long time - wasn't even 5 minutes. Most importantly - the salon was visibly dirty. Nail dust everywhere, tools looked used and unsanitized, and the sink hadn't been cleaned in a while. One tech even picked something off a cuticle cutter before using it on me. The service felt rushed, with no massage, scrub, nothing. I left feeling uneasy and immediately cleaned my hands and nails at home to avoid infection or fungus. First and last visit. Hygiene matters, do better!

We called ahead, and they recommended making an appointment to be seen quickly. Everything went exactly as they said, and there was essentially no wait time when we arrived. The salon itself was very clean, peaceful, and relaxing. The chairs were especially comfortable, and the overall atmosphere made it easy to unwind. One small thing I would change is the TV placement. I think mounting the TVs behind the estheticians' chairs would make them easier for customers to watch during services. The staff was incredibly kind, accommodating, and attentive to detail throughout the entire appointment. Since I do not usually get my nails done often, I appreciated how helpful they were with color selection and decision-making. They made the whole experience feel comfortable and welcoming. It has now been over a week since my appointment, and my nails still look great, which says a lot about the quality of their work. The pricing was also very reasonable for the level of service received. Monroe Nails is definitely a spot I would return to, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing experience with friendly staff and quality nail services.

You do everything online including cancellation and etc. Don't both dm'ing them on social media to cancel it's ONLINE ONLY. You go online pick a date and see what dates are available and of course what services you want. You will put in your credit/debit card and they will take a deposit and the rest is paid after the service. When they check you out the remainder will be paid. They don't do cash payments. You are welcome to tip in cash but make sure you have exact change. I came here as the person I normally see I double booked myself and she had no appointments available anytime this month (June 2024) so I decided to try this place again. If you want a place to roll into I can recommend a place but most spots now want an appointment. They are on the first floor as I think other businesses are here as well. The inside is light and bright, light woods and comfortable seating. I was greeted and asked to wash my hands.. ok I did not get that as I was here for a pedicure.. so... Also I was offered a drink, water, coffee, wine a nice touch. Now the set up for the pedicure was nice but I wished I could have moved back the chair, I had a pillow behind me but I got rid of it but I was comfortable but it was just wonky. I'm tall and usually they will adjust how you sit. This is minor but if you're tall ask if the chair can be adjusted. My nail tech Maddy Elizabeth was lovely, friendly and efficient. I picked out a color they have a bunch and if you want a gel type it's an additional cost. I got a more souped up pedicure with warm stones and a mask. The execution of the pedicure was great but the additional stuff did not seem too luxurious. The clay mask she almost forgot about than she put on warm towels and use also used warm stones. This was a nice touch but maybe I expected a bit more for $75.00. Oh well that's just me... When you are done you go into the back room and you dry your feet/hands for a bit. My feet I had a fan to dry my feet, not a big deal but it was odd... I think most are use to a light source or someone uses a quick dry. I think since they are all about 7 to 11 free nail items. While I was waiting I was offered a glass of rose if I wanted. The check out was easy and they did ask if I wanted another appointment. I said no but thank you. I'll keep them in mind when I can't get in with my regular person. From what I understand they are opening another location in Monroe in Brighton. This location from what I was told will get a refresh. All in all it was a lovely experience and a great pedicure. They share a parking lot and they ha e specific spaces for the business a plus. 4.5 out of 5

When I asked for a refund (on the same day as service) my requests were ignored until several days later, and then denied. "We need to pay our employees a living wage." By screwing your customers? Not to mention the damage done to my cuticles, which were left peeling and bleeding. Apparently, this was somehow my fault, per the response I received from the salon. I don't know if every manicurist there is terrible or not (this was my first and last visit), but to call what I received a 'professional manicure' is an insult to actual professional manicurists. Don't take my word for it, the photos speak for themselves.

The salon itself was nice and the staff seemed friendly. At first, everything seemed fine, and I clearly explained how I wanted my hair styled. I have a short bob that can be styled in a lot of different ways. When my stylist parted my hair down the middle, I got a little nervous but hoped it would turn out okay. The entire service was done with just a round brush and blow dryer. When she finished, I was honestly disappointed and told her so. The style made me feel like I looked like a little boy, and I said I could have achieved the same result myself at home. She responded by saying that's just how my hair responds, but I disagreed because I've had my hair styled many times before and know what it's capable of. (Basically I called BS) I even offered to show photos of previous blowouts I've loved. What I asked for was simple, some volume with a slightly sleek finish. I also mentioned that my hair can be parted in different ways. At one point she suggested curling it, but after later looking at the salon's website, I noticed they charge extra for flat iron or curling iron work, which may explain why it wasn't initially offered. To her credit, she did try to fix it, and it looked better, but overall I still wasn't very happy with the experience. I paid, tipped, and moved on, but for $45, I personally didn't feel it was worth it. Unfortunately, I wouldn't return.

(I also have an important event in a few days, so I was nervous about trying a new stylist.) I've always loved Aveda salons, so I booked with Lisa, a master stylist. Right out of the gate, the entire staff was not only tolerant of my service dog but welcoming. ‍ I typically bring a padded mat for him, but we were crunched for time getting there after work. I didn't mention his mat, but they automatically offered to bring my dog a towel to lay on, which he loved. Lisa asked many clarification questions as to the look I was going for. She let me show her pics and describe my experience with my natural waves and certain products. She told me we would take off the majority of the bangs and then come back after she'd cut the back. Aside from adding subtle layers, I asked her to take off very little length. She listened, which is not ways the case with stylists as we all well know! She then made three passes at my bangs based on not wanting to take off too much. I really appreciated her level of care, empathy, and patience with my service dog and me. I also discussed starting demi coloring with her and asked several questions about products she used to style my fresh cut. I loved how she didn't push products on me like some people do. She was all about making me comfortable Nd happy! Needless to say, she's my new stylist, and I can't recommend her enough!
