As always, they're the most competitive in the land, and that's just talking about the numbers. Costco was always neck and neck with all online retailers, even when we're talking about their one time promotional prices! For comparison? my previous eye doctor charged and additional $50+ per box over Costco's regular price, which equates to $400 more per year for my lenses. Best of all, you get an additional % cash back on this when you use your Costco credit card! Win win win! Second, service! Costco's employees are the best and offer help wherever they can. Today the optician was super friendly, helped me quickly find my contacts, looked into applying my insurance and happily looked into and identified rebates for me too! Beyond that, she also applied both my insurance and the rebate INSTANTLY, so I only had to pay the difference. AND she shared that Costco's return policy essentially applies to contacts and glasses bought there too, so you can shop with the same comfort and peace of mind you enjoy in the rest of the store! Truly above and beyond, and it is so appreciated. Third, convenience! It's centrally located and we do so much shopping and gas filling there, that there's rarely a time going to Costco is inconvenient! So glad my eye care needs are now under the Costco umbrella. Insured or not, the cost savings are so worth exploring here.

Rose Hwy. and Thomas Creek Road), they're also well-equipped (snowboard rentals, clean interior, one bank of video poker machines, and snow chains). But the absolute review-worthy highlight - the quirkiest bronze sculpture just outside the front doors to the convenience store - a bench with Mark Twain reading a book! This item was a serious landmark for me (It's actually quite an impressive sculpture and I'm determined to discover the motivation behind it at this particular location). see the photo. Prices are a bit lower than the other station in the area and are far better than the gas prices up at the lake. A good place to stop and fill up if you are on your way over the hill to Lake Tahoe. The one way arrows guiding you out of the lot and back on to Thomas Creek Road are a bit confusing. We almost ended up in the carwash.

The problem is the pumps are ridiculously slow...no joke, it took a couple of minutes to pump a gallon of gas. Yes, THAT long! This has happened on several pumps on different days of the week. It also may help to have things cleaned up a little or even replace the faded pump screens; yes, I know it's just a gas station, but it would help to show a little pride and effort. Unless you have 20 minutes to spare, drive to the next gas station or you'll be staring at the slowest pumps ever...or you can turn your head and look at McDonalds or Home Depot while you wait!

These companies' credit card processors are often broken and rarely work, especially at the car…read morewash. All the equipment is very old and does not work. Cheap equipment, and it just becomes frustrating. They seem not to care about customer experience and want to go the cheap route on what they do. The car wash is just cheap equipment and more frustrating than convenient. The rates for the hand car wash are also more expensive and start at $8 for 6 minutes. If they had new equipment, most companies start at 4 minutes and allow the user to keep using it until they want to stop. Sucks to have a handcarwash so close, and it's so bad. Dar. The gas station itself has the same issue with credit card processing at the pump, which often breaks down. They are the highest prices for fuel. You can go down the hill and get much lower gas prices. Again, my complaint is more that it sucks to have this type of company close by that you would love to support, but are terrible at all they do. Heck, they do even have gutters, and you get the dipping on you as you walk in. Just tells you how cheap they are on standard things.

They do have a Redbox and some small slot machines, and the store is well-stocked overall. I came in craving a Slurpee, but unfortunately, the three flavors I tried were all watered down--ended up not getting one after all. Not a terrible spot, but the Slurpee disappointment knocked it down a bit for me.
