I have an unnatural fear of dirty nail salons. Galaxy nails put me at such ease! They use the plastic bags in the pedicure chairs and hardware is brought out in the 'sanitized' bags still closed. My toes look great and almost a week later still no chips! Which says a lot because I've worked out at the gym twice and swam in a pool a few times since getting them done. They got me on the massage chair with warm water immediately while I waited about 10 minutes for my turn. I noticed they did that with other people too. I would imagine it's how they keep people from leaving instead of saying a 10 minute wait. I'll take it over just sitting in a chair though. read more

I had an experience from absolute hell here, today. My usual salon was too busy, so I decided to make an appointment here, because my quarantine dip gel nails were looking really rough. I had a few nails that still had dip gel on them, and instead of filing them off, she literally grabbed an acrylic nail, and jammed it underneath of my old gel, and ripped it off! I yelled "OUCH" and grabbed her hand, and she continued to try and do it to my other nails too. She grabbed a tool, and started scraping it off, and that also hurt horribly. I don't understand why she didn't use the proper tools. I almost left, but I figured the damage was done. I wanted dip gel again, and I realized she was doing normal gel. She roughly filed my thin nails much more than necessary, so the gel lamp hurt badly. I am bleeding on the sides of my nails, and my cuticles on 4 nails. She didn't speak to me one time, or apologize. She was extremely rough, and seemed distracted. The guy next to her seemed as if he was disturbed by how rough she was going, but didn't say anything. My friend next to me was shocked that I stayed, but I just kept hoping throughout that it would get better. I suggest Sunset nails off of baseline, they're AMAZING. read more

I went here to have my SNS nails removed and then have a regular manicure. Instead of soaking them to remove them, he used a fake acrylic nail to slide under them and POP them off! It was painful and left every one of my nails very damaged!! This was my first time to have SNS nails, so I had no idea he was doing something wrong until I saw the results. He then handed me over to a woman that did my regular manicure. She commented about how my nails were peeling and said something to him in their language. She barely buffed them, so when she painted them they had bumps and were a mess. To add insult to injury they charged me EXTRA for removing the SNS nails. Seriously?!? After multiple terrible experiences here I will NEVER go back to this place. The techs are rude & talk about you while you're sitting right there. I've had several techs and all have done a terrible job. I continued going because the location was convenient in my busy schedule. This most recent time, I chose a pearl white dip and by the time I saw my nails (there's a plastic shield separating you and the tech) there was BLACK specs on my nails from powder contamination. The tech RUDELY denied seeing the black and when I asked her to fix it she became upset and starting painfully twisting my fingers and arms in all directions while drilling my nails. She then buffed my nails so hard she cut my skin under my nail in two spots. At the end, after taking 30 minutes longer to fix the mistake she clearly saw but was too lazy to fix they didn't even offer me anything for the mess up. The prior experience involved gel that they failed to do correctly and by the next day they were chipping off. They admitted the tech's mistake that time and did fix them but it consumed another 1.5 hours of my time. This place has untrained techs!! read more

Went for a pedicure and eyebrow wax with my mom. Being a Saturday afternoon they were a little busy but they were well staffed and got us right in. We opted for the pedicure with callus remover. They were very nice and wanted to make sure we were comfortable. The pedicure included a paraffin wax dip which I think made a huge difference. They didn't rush through anything and did a wonderful job. The older lady really took her time waxing my eyebrows and made sure she got every hair. Okay, I've never bothered to write a review before, but I had to! I was a walk-in and instantly felt welcome. The staff was so warm and friendly. I got a basic spa pedicure, which was anything but basic! They used this amazing smelling scrub, gave a great massage, and even used hot stones! I got a gel manicure with a design on two of the fingernails which came out great. The technician could tell that I wasn't thrilled about the color I chose for my toes, so she insisted that I pick a different one and she redid them! My total came to $45, what a steal! So I tipped generously of course. Especially since there were two people working on me. I highly recommend this salon. I just moved here from Florida, and I've had to suffer through a couple bad experiences to find this gem. There's not many good salons in Mesa and the ones in Scottsdale are too pricey. As you can see my nails look horrible and I just got them done 5 days ago. I can tell by the next day they did a bad job because I would slide my nails through my hair and my hair would get stuck on the base of the nail because the nail was sticking out. Any other time I've gotten my nails done the tech uses a few different filers. This one used one before gluing the nails, glued them, filed them once more and he was done. I meant to go have them fix it but I was in town the next day and it was Mothers Day the next and of course I work M-F. The pedicure was fine but I was overcharged by $3. My second time here, decided to treat myself to luxury pedicure rather than standard. They wrapped my feet in some moisture mud and plastic wrap, then a nice sugar scrub. After that was a decent leg and foot massage and then hot stone massage, which was too quick that I didn't know she did it. Chair massage is good, not too harsh where your back feels bruised the next day. The lady who gave me pedicure was not friendly at all, almost seemed pissed to have to give me a pedicure. This was my first time here and the salon is very nicely decorated and seemed very clean. My mom and I came in for pedicures. This is the first time I've seen a nail salon line the bowls with a plastic bag. It made me feel a little more comfortable with getting a pedi done since it keeps the bowls more sanitary and your feet are the only ones that have been in it. I would have still liked to see them to be disinfected since it still has jets but I'm not sure on how it works being that it's the first time I have seen this, so maybe water doesn't flow through the whole system. Luckily I didn't need her to use any implements (cuticle pusher, nail clippers, cuticle nippers) on me since I didn't need any polish or clean up done. I didn't see her grab clean implements once she finished with her last pedi. The massage and sugar scrub felt amazing. They also do a little massage with hot stones and a hot towel. I had Linda, at least I believe that was her name, she was very nice and we made some small talk. She talked about where she went to school to become a licensed nail tech and we had talked about the school I had gone to for cosmetology. She was very sweet and I would definitely be back to see her for another pedi. I have been getting my nails done for over 10 years, so I know what they should look like and a proper job. This has been my most disappointing experience yesterday at Galaxy nails. I went in for a full set, first the lady kept trying to get me to keep my nails long when I told her I wanted them short. Then, I had to ask her to put more acrylic, because the way she did it they were paper thin. Once I left already frustrated by having to coach her through my nail appointment I noticed she didnt file them properly. They are so bumpy, and she did noy give them proper shaping from the cuticle down. My HUSBAND even said something and men hardly pay attention ti those details. Her concern for quality was NON EXISTENT! I recently moved and was trying a shop close to me, but I now regret it and will never go back. Great nail shop! We were a group of 6 for mani & pedis. Definately make an appointment. The staff is friendly & very efficient. The regulars of course had their favorite nail technician. My first time here but had great service nonetheless. My sister had the basic pedi & was still treated with the hot stone massage. I cannot pass the sugar scrub. OMG so happy I didn't skimp on this. (Sister was treating me today! ) love love love her! This salon has a nice setup with newer pedi chairs lined up on one side with a long table for manicures on the other side. They used liners in the pedi tub for easy clean up & sanitation. Great location that was easy to access despite being in a busy shopping plaza. I have never written a review before, but I felt extremely compelled after my last visit to Galaxy Nails. I found out about this salon after I moved to Mesa; I needed a new nail place, and this one had good reviews on Yelp. Since then, have been to this nail salon 5-6 times for pedicures, shellac manicures, and most recently, the SNS nails. For the pedicures and shellac manicures, I would rate this place 3 to 3.5 stars. Nothing terrible, but not fantastic either (I miss Fountain Hills Nails!). For the SNS manicure, this place definitely earned its 1 star rating. Let me explain. I called Galaxy Nails prior to going to make sure they actually did SNS for nails (it seems fairly new). After being enthusiastically told that yes they can do SNS for nails, I made an appointment and went. The experience started off fine. I received the normal filing and cuticle trimming, so I thought all would go well. The technician did chop one of my cuticles and it wouldn't stop bleeding, but it does happen every now and then and I've learned to live with it; I wouldn't rate poorly because of that. During this time, I chatted with the tech about how excited I was to try SNS for nails specifically because it did not use UV light. I mentioned this twice. The experience completely went downhill once the tech actually started the process of "applying" the SNS nails. SNS for nails involves repeated dipping of your fingernails in powder. First is a pink powder for a natural look, then you can either choose white powder for a french tip or other color options available. After the color is on, your finger is dipped back into the pink powder to help set the color. I chose to do the french tip. It makes sense that a french tip nail would generally be somewhat rounded to match your actual nail, right? WRONG. Not at Galaxy Nails! The tech made COMPLETELY STRAIGHT edges on all the nails on my right hand. Additionally, all of the tips were different sizes. DIFFERENT SIZES!! Wouldn't it make sense to do one nail, then ask the client if they like the shape/amount of white tip/etc.? NOPE, not at Galaxy Nails. I put my trust in this woman to do a good job since she wouldn't show me my nails, then she gives me uneven tips and completely straight edges. I told her to please round them, and all I get is a blank stare back. I don't think she has ever had a client ask to round a nail, because when she dipped my fingers back into the white powder to create a rounder tip, they came back straight. During this entire time (even when she did my left hand), she FREQUENTLY asked me to help her with shaping my own white tip using the powder. As in, she's holding my hand and my nails are facing her, she is bent over my hand and holding the little pot of white powder to try and shape it so that the powder forms a tip, and she's asking me to help her with the shaping. How does she expect me to see my own nails when she's bent over them?! So frustrating. But that wasn't the worst part. Like I mentioned above, I was excited about SNS nails mainly because they don't use UV light (something I made the tech aware of). After the tech did some sanding of the nail (not sure why) and put the SNS top coat on, she had me stick each hand under the UV light for 2 minutes. EACH. Then she looked at my nails, and put a topcoat of shellac on them because they looked like complete crap and it was an effort to make them look shiny. Then, hands back under the UV light for another minute each! So each hand received 3 minutes of UV light exposure total, the same as with a shellac manicure. I was so, so, so disappointed by this experience at Galaxy Nails. The entire process took much longer than a pedicure or shellac manicure, and the tech even knew she did a terrible job, because she kept apologizing and saying "next time I will be better." Like I mentioned above, Galaxy Nails does an adequate job at pedicures and shellac manicures, but nothing fantastic. After this experience, I do not wish to give this place any more chances to finally do a good job on my nails. I will make the trek to Fountain Hills every few weeks to Fountain Hills Nails..at least they know what they're doing! read more

Every time I have walked in the door, whether walk-in or with an appointment, they always have a seat prepared for their next customer. The seats have a massage controller. I had my 4 yr old daughter with me and they were patient and kind to her as well. They also did a great job on my daughters polish and design. Paid a bunch of money to get my nails done for Valentines Day. I got fancy gem designs and gel put on that peeled in one day, I went back to get it fixed 2 days later they did for free of course. But still inconvenient to have to go do that when I was reassured that it would not peel even though I asked for actual acrylic powder to be placed instead of gel polish. And now about 2 weeks later I decided to take off the rest of my nails to get new set from my normal salon and low and behold I have green mold fungus on 4 of my nails!!! Ewww! I've been getting my nails done bout every 3 weeks for over 5 years. Trust me I know nails. I normally only go to my salon in NE Phoenix @Infinity on Greenway Rd. But since moving to Mesa I've been trying new places and this place I will never go to again. Even my toes have been having like weird stuff around them since I got the pedicure. I really don't know how this place has such good ratings! I usually don't leave reviews but I feel like people should know how bad the service was here. I went there today for the second time (first time didn't go well, but I thought I would give it a second try,) and I will NEVER go back. The pedicure was terrible. The girl didn't say one word the whole time. I asked for a callus removal after realizing she wasn't going to ask which pedicure I was purchasing. She seemed mad that she had to go get the tool a few steps away. The massage was her rubbing my leg back in forth mindlessly while she chatted with her coworker, which was followed by three- five squeezes of my foot. The gel fill that I got was also disappointing. The towel she laid out on the table was dirty. I could tell by the finger nail(real) tips that were all over the towel. The older woman was distracted by every little move in the salon and was hardly paying attention to the little machine hitting my finger.. And it got stuck in the towel at one point! I asked for thicker nails and she did them thin, I asked her to do it again and she proceeded to tell me my nails were thick at least four times throughout the session, before she filed them half thin and half thick. She then painted my nails clear when I asked for white gel polish and tried to convince me it was white. Then she started talking to her coworkers about me as she got up to get the white polish. The ends are half painted and it looks like I painted my nails myself with my left hand(I'm right handed) Do NOT go here if you want your money's worth! read more

I went to Galaxy nails because my other nail salon is being remodeled. I asked for my usual SNS. The lady who did my nails asked me if I wanted them shortened. I was very specific and told her no. The acetone she used made most of my nails bend off and she ended up cutting them very short. I was incredibly disappointed to say the least. Also, she only put one coat of the white powder...resulting in my nails being very thin. My other salon uses 3 coats. Not to mention, two nails are crooked. I will never go back! read more
