The most uncomfortable experience I've encountered as a customer. The experience was so bad I downloaded this app in order to post a review. The driver was so mentally unstable he spent 20 plus minutes ranting and raving on how he hated white people Donald Trump the military America and police. As a retired US Army vet disabled and a local of Gainesville I will never use this effing company again. read more

Unkempt vehicle, went ahead and combined fares (theirs flat rate, mine on the meter) without a heads up, and the oh-so-charming, legally binding $100 PER PUKE vinyl stickers on all windows gave me about all I needed to know when it comes to selecting a local livery. And that's that Gainesville Cab Company will absolutely not be first on the list. I get that their typical crowd may be the drunken 2am crowd who care not about the condition of upholstery or the deep-seeded cigarette odor. But that's not who's flying in at 1p on a Monday, so why present yourself like this at the airport taxi queue? read more

Gainesville Cab Co - Enjoy the ride! - Taxis Near Me - Gainesville, Florida

Awesome service. Cabs are old but so am I. Driver was engaging and funny, and will continue to use GC. Trying to remove my first review. I had my rear end on my shoulders that day. Will recommend to others for sure. I feel way safer in a taxi than in an Uber or Lyft for some reason. Karma saw to it that I got the same driver I was so hard on the first time, and.... Because I'm a woman and was alone, and it was at night.... driver Gary did not shift out of park, even... Until I was safely inside with the door shut behind me. Thank you so much read more

This morning, I went to the usual Greyhound station cause I thought it was still operating from this site. It's my fault for not checking. Well, there's this Gainesville cab car that's sitting there. The second mistake was getting in the car. I just wanted to try not to miss the bus. He said he could take me. Well, for 20.00 cash. I got the cash and informed me he wasn't moving until he got the cash. And I'm like, how do I know you just ain't gonna dump me somewhere. He said listen you can get out of the car.Of course, I'm on the highway with two suitcases. Just watch your surroundings." Vultures spot the desperate. read more

Very reliable service! I scheduled a ride for 4:30am to the airport. The driver arrived early and helped me with my bags. Fair price and much less stressful than an uber!! read more

Me and my friend needed a ride and asked someone who works here for one, we saw how much they charge and made us actually pay 2x the normal amount we had to. On top of that it was unsanitary and didn't even put in the directions we gave him and he yelled at us. read more

A coworker called this company earlier this morning. The dispatch was completely rude. We called for a client that needed a ride to the bank. When asked his location the man said "oh yeah, I know the place." We asked how long it would be and he said "I don't know. Could be 5 minutes could be 6 hours." Needless to say fuck Gainesville Cab! read more

Number 51 a burgundy Chevrolet... No use of turn signals... Pulling out in front of traffic quickly... Dangerous driving!

My friend, John, waited 1.5 hours for a Gainesville Cab in the rain. Rush hour, traffic delays, I can understand these things. However, upon arrival, the cab driver took one look at this 76 year old man, who was soaked to the skin, and told him he could not get in the cab. THE DRIVER LEFT THIS 76 YEAR OLD MAN IN THE POURING RAIN and the Gainesville Cab Co refused to answer the phone when John tried to request another cab. I will never use a Gainesville Cab again. Never. read more

Plane was leaving at 6:30 am. I called the night before at 11:00 pm for a 4:30 pickup the next morning. Cab showed up at 4:30 am just as I requested. Reliability is all I need from a good cab company. The same cab picked up a businessman from the Hilton on 34th who was also headed to the airport. I assume the hotel finds them reliable as well. read more

Never has cabs available when I'm in a rush now I am gonna continue usage with uber and lyft only because these guys are never available when I need them read more

Interestingly, Yelp has decided the worst reviews are unhelpful so all the one star ratings aren't factored in, even though some are pretty accurate. The cabs are saturated with cigarette smoke, beat up and overpriced. Everything about this cab company just feels run down and dirty. The only reason I'm giving an extra star is because the drivers are nice enough (the ones I've met anyway) and the cabs are ~usually~ on time. Do yourself a favor and call another cab company or better yet, get an Uber cab. Uber charges $1.50 less for the base fare, $1.00 less per mile and doesn't charge per person. read more

Whoever was answering the phone at this dump on 12/5/21 was the most low class, unprofessional ignoramus I had to ever deal with. I call the first time, and the guy answers after like 20 rings , he's out of breath and clearly flustered ,for who knows why, and he doesn't let me finish giving him all the info and he tells me I can't do that. So I hung up and called another listing at 352-374-8484 and its this same bozo. This time he's clearly angry but says he can schedule the fare. Then I give him the address and tell him I want to pay for ride in advance as I was not the fare. When I said I wanted to pay in advance he starts cussing and using abhorrent language. He then tells me that I'm shady and not going to do. This guy is clearly in over his head with being a cabbie. Meanwhile he has one business under multiple names and phone numbers ( talk about shady) His low class language ,and poor attitude and laziness sums up perfectly why rideshares like Uber and Lyft are mopping the floor with cab companies. Honestly i just feel bad for clown , if he can't handle the job of cabbie, he going to have hard time doing anything else out there. The dinosaur cab companies days are numbered and it's guys like this who are expediting it. I would never recommend Gainesville taxi or whatever other names this guy calls it. read more

I will never use this company again. The driver's were rude and not polite at all. When you ask them a question they hardly acknowledge you. The car was absolutely filthy and the upholstery was dirty. A roach crawled across the seat. The AC must not work. The car sound like it was on its last leg. I felt uneasy. Glad when I got to my destination. read more

Never use this company again. The car was filthy and the upholstery was absolutely disgusting. A roach crawled on the seat and on me. The driver's were rude and not polite at all. I would ask them a question and they would hardly acknowledge it. The car sounded like it was on its last leg. I felt like it was alot I paid for the short distance. We went less than 2 miles in university and they charged us $14 outside of the metered rate...wtf is this new York city?

10 minutes after I called for a taxi they were at my house to pick me up. The person I spoke to on the phone was very polite and helpful. The taxi that arrived was very clean and the driver was nice. It was a pleasant and reliable experience. From now on, I will be using Gainesville Cab Co. anytime I need a taxi and recommend it to anyone else who wants reliable cab company. read more

My guess is that as an airport shuttle this may be a good deal. However, as just a taxi service it is way overpriced. I made an appointment and then called to cancel because I found a ride to the bar I was heading to. The lady on the phone literally hung up on me. I was polite. However, she seemed irritated as soon as she picked up. I give a two stars because someone answered right away but I will not use them to take me to the airport tomorrow or ever. Politeness really does matter to some people and I am one of them. read more

We took a cab from our hotel out to some clubs and during the ride the dispatcher was all over the radio insulting our driver in the meanest way, saying that he was a rookie and unable to work his radio. It was embarrassing for the drive we could tell, and especially unprofessional of the dispatcher. We went pretty far, from south 13th to Main and University and it was only around $10 with tip. The next day I called the same company since I had the card in my pocket and we took a cab from Archer Road to the Harn museum on Hull St, which was possibly a mile or two and they charged us $12!!! The meeter read $7 and some change. Apparently there were signs on the outside of the cab but I wasn't really looking and the driver said nothing about it until we got to our destination. $10 to go half way across the city at night, $12 to go less that 2 miles the next day? Double standards and shady business practices. Do not count on this cab company to be fair or professional. read more

I've had so many encounters with these vehicles out on SW 13th street and Williston Rd, I know I'd never recommend them. If you see one of their maroon minivans coming your way, watch out! They speed, cut people off, and are intentionally aggressive (sitting at a green light until it turns red, then speeding off). read more

This review is in regards to Gainesville cab's insurance carrier, Ascendant insurance. Myself and three other vehicles were rear ended by a cab driver on their phone and didn't stop at all at a traffic light. It's taken their insurance four months and many many many unreturned phone calls to even acknowledge my claim. Gainesville cab is (barely) insured by a very shady insurance carrier, drive very carefully when you see one on the road because if you get hit, you may not receive any help at all read more

I will never again take a Gainesville Cab Co taxi. The taxi was old and run down, the drive was the rudest person i have ever came across. He was trying to kick me and my 2yr old son out of the taxi because i asked him what would be the cost of the ride and then said i was being overly excited. I was like WOW how am i excited i just wanted to know. Long story short i called them back and all they could tell me is the he just woke up and was in a bad mood. When you come to work you are suppose to leave your home life at home and he really did not very sad man someone should pray for him. read more

Very dangerous driver. Had him slam on his breaks to get someone off his tail. I wouldn't trust them to drive me safely at any distance.

We came to Gainesville for a football game. Our cab driver just made us ride in silence. He was going to put us out on the side of the road. The first night, they were great. I would not use them again for this reason. What kind of company hires a driver that thinks people will ride in silence?? read more

THE most rude employees I have ever talked to. I got hung up on because I told the dispatcher I would call a different company if he was going to continue being rude to me. I work at a hotel and trust me when I say I will NEVER recommend them to another guest nor will I use them personally. read more

BEWARE! My husband and I picked up a Gainesville cab on Saturday night after the Gator game. All started normal with the cab driver starting the meter, then about 30 seconds down the road he says it will be a $22 minimum. 3 minutes later he calls into dispatcher and then reports to us that it will be a $27 minimum. At this point we were stuck since we were nearly halfway to our destination. When we arrived at the destination and the meter said $17.09, my husband called the dispatcher to ask why they arbitrarily choose minimum fares. I suppose I can understand wanting to increase rates on a game weekend in Gainesville BUT they should be required to notify passengers either verbally or with a sign in the cab with the change in rate. Will NEVER use them again! Very bad business. read more

have a flight on 7:40am. called the day before, and showed punctually at 6:15 AM. but kind of expansive. 10 miles, cost 33 dollars. but as long as it shows up on time, it's good enough for me. read more

I have been using this company for 3 years now and I have been putting up with their crap for too long! This morning was the final straw when I requested a cab to take me to church service, and I had to get a lecture on "making up my mind?!". The "idiot" operator on the phone was so arrogant and ridiculous, he shouldn't be in a position to deal with people. After giving me the famous "15 minute" time frame, I called this poor excuse of an employee back after 30 minutes have gone by to cancel my pick-up. This pitiful fool had the nerve to tell me that the driver was "almost" at my house, and that it takes gas, blah blah blah, and that I should make up my mind a little sooner. I don't request their services to get lectured on some BS! I have the right to change my mind as I darn-well please, and Gainesville cab need to check their "high and mighty" attitude workers before they get slapped with something more serious than a bad review. Long story short, if you don'y mind high minimum fares, smoke infested cabs, drivers who don't even have the decency to help with your baggage, and some of the ruddest dispatch service in Gainesville... Then by all means, keep calling them. read more
