Elizabeth A. was one of them. She called to have work done on her roof. The repair work was done correctly and there was no defect in the workmanship we provided. She did not pay her bill in a timely fashion as she has indicated, even though we had explained to her in advance that she would be charged for materials. We provided labor free of charge, even though the repair was fine, except 7 years had faded the existing material and the new material, which is black still needed to fade to blend in. She was called several times to pay her bill and she finally gave us her credit card number over the the phone to pay her past due invoice. She then disputed the credit card charge. We supplied the credit card company with the documentation regarding the repair and the credit card company declined her dispute. It is difficult to understand why Elizabeth A. acted in this manner and it is unfortunate that as a long time customer, she chose to write a negative review when the job was done properly and we went he extra mile to accommodate her. read more

Best company I have ever worked with --actually an understatement--...they are creative, resourceful, detail oriented and knowledgeable. They have worked with me from the very beginning at many levels, from solving an extreme case of humidity/mold in my basement, along with updating all the operating systems in the house, to the most incredible transformation of an old house. I can rave about this company and their workers for hours, probably without being able to put into words how responsive and hard working they all are. The quality of their subcontractors is superb, very sincere people, and in a world where honesty is rare to find, I most say they are a gem, because they are very honest. After Storm Sandy, we got water in the basement every time it rained. It was a serious problem. Water was coming in from the perimeter of the house and up through the basement floor. We contacted a few basement specialists and decided to hire Gaines Construction Company. They had the best price and Mike, the General Manger, was easy to work with.They installed a sealed a 1 1/2 HP Sump Pump, Battery Back up System, an in floor perimeter water guard tunnel drain, landscape backflow prevention and a dehumidifier. The work took about four weeks to complete and along the way we added on a number of miscellaneous repair request. These guys were very professional. They did an outstanding job and they were so accommodating and flexible. They were reliable, polite, clean and tried to be as unobtrusive as possible. We made the right choice! read more

I have used Gaines Construction for well over 25 years and always gotten great service and great design suggestions. They have replaced my windows, roof (building a portico at the same time), siding, two bathrooms and a complete kitchen renovation at our home. We hired Ray Gaines and his crew to complete a commercial handicap ramp which required special building code requirements. It was tucked between a parking lot and planting area and had to match up with an existing platform entrance. They did an excellent job. The work area was neat and cleaned up every night after working. Ray was helpful with suggestions and changes which benefited the project. They all were very profesional.
